Excellent again today. Involved in all three goals and the red card. You can't ask more than that.

This guy looks absolute dog @@@@. He works hard and runs channels, but his awareness and touch are awful. Also he does not look like a scorer of goals. So yet another non scoring forward to add to our ranks. Urghhh this is going to be a long long season Help yourself.

Wonder how many he will get when he plays just up front and doesn't lose a few games with ACON.
We are finally starting to play more balls down the channels for him to run in to and also playing the balls in from the wider players giving him the chance to score how he did in Germany.
We have a really good striker, his lack of hold up play and finesse is more than made up by his power, pace and endeavour.

Some of his overall play is really sloppy at times- yet he keeps on scoring!
My opinion of him's improved since the start of the season but he still frustrates the shit out of me at least a few times every match. On the plus side though, he is always hovering on the shoulder of the last man anticipating a ball that sometimes doesn't come. The other thing he's good at is closing defenders down and providing excellent nuisance value. In fact, it was his persistence in chasing after their player that led to the red card after Diouf had outmuscled him.
I don't think I've ever seen a player at Stoke who looks so bad in general play yet seems to have such a lethal poacher's instinct. It's not even like his finishing is that good; if he's through one-on-one with a bit of time to think about it, he usually misses. But give him a ball whipped across the box and he seems to have a sixth sense where he should be. For all his faults I can't think of many more useful attributes to have than that!

I thought every aspect of his game was excellent today.
He did marvellously well for the first goal, got the player sent off and scored one.
He held the ball well, played nice passes, made good runs. I don't know what more he could have done today!

Really played well today and showing with a bit of faith he can play the lone striker role well! People who sit round me continue to slag him off and I have no idea why he has improved us a lot especially away from home!

Diof is brilliant
If you watch the hard work he does. He runs the channels creates space which is calling for a good pass that often doesn't come. All season he has done this
The guy who rang up P&G who said he was rubbish is an idiot
Glad he got his goal

I was hoping for a 3rd goal from either him or Arnie and the fact both were involved was great to see. Certainly a very good player who creates lots of space for others to operate in.

Passion, Power, Athleticism, Enthusiasm - yes
Touch, Control, Passing - not so much..
definitely did well today... and is almost the polar opposite to Crouchy... which is a good thing.. i really like the guy... but you can't compare him to Ricky... i dont care how many he scores..

Still unconvinced. He's good defensively, he somehow manages to score, but he's composure on the ball and most of his touches are fucking awful.

Utter bollocks. The only current player I've really criticised consistently from our current squad is Diouf. It's not spiteful or personal- unlike your comments towards me on this thread-I just didn't think he was very good. Diouf's proved me wrong in the respect that I thought he was a terrible footballer and that he'd get nowhere near 10 goals this season. As it's turned out, he's had a mixed season- some rotten performances and some good, which is a lot better than I thought we'd get after his first few displays. I still don't think he's the long-term answer as a lone front man though. Someone to keep in the squad and bring off the bench, definitely, but I'd rather we try and find someone who can do more in general play as well as score the goals. If Villa can find a Benteke from somewhere, and Swansea can find a Bony then so can we.

Diouf is the key to maximising the impact of Bojan next season.
Diouf is so fast that he makes the defenders sit back an extra 10 yards or so which gives Bojan extra space to work in.
When we play crouch the defenders know they will not be beaten for pace so can push up and compress the play leaving the little magician with les room in which to work.
Most teams that have a sitting striker (ie the Bojan position) have a pacey striker to make the opposition defence sit deep.
For this reason I think Diouf will play a lot more games upfront next season.

Earlier in the season I'd have always gone with Crouchy on the basis that he can hold the ball up better and bring the likes of Bojan into play. As the season's gone on though it's obvious just how vital that element of pace is with a lone front man.
