Not knocking Crouch but not sure how we look more lively up front when he replaces Diouf Think he showed is skills on the ball, and as we put in a lot of crosses Crouch was the obvious choice. As I said I would also have kept Diouf on the pitch. I think that dioufy would flourish alongside a poacher like hernandez, with Dioufy (or SJW) chasing down and working their bollocks off, and Hernandez poaching them in, we would be a force to be reckoned with.

I like diouf. Always a willing runner. Makes intelligent runs. So want him to do well.

An absolute shocking decision from Hughes to take him off. Is it me or has he in recent weeks been to The Tony Pulis school of bizarre decisions. I can see why he bought crouch on with the balls that were flying in the box, but diouf should have stayed on. Ireland off for crouch is the way I would have gone at that point.

He was superb today ....closing down defenders constant running into space but the usual few won't see it due to their Crouch obsession Hughes only blemish mark was his substitution and it played into Sunderlands hands Spot on. His presence was giving Coates and O'Shea the shits and no coincidence they sliced nearly every clearance that came their way. Crouch came on, they pushed up 10 yards and came back into the game. Agree, bizarre, bizarre decision. Does Hughes not like him? Walters was really poor again contributing nothing, yet stays on, utterly mind blowing.

Credit where it's due, he played well today and even I wouldn't have taken him off!
O'Shea is about as quick as my grandpa, and shat his pants every time Diouf was within 20 yards of him.

It seems as though hughes has fallen into the same trap as tone, walters brought nowt to the table today and still didnt get dropped where as diouf was having a real good game and gets dragged off! I do trust hughes but sometimes he makes some real strange decisions!

I haven't got a problem with Walters starting but when he's having very little impact on the game surely we can take him off and change our players/formation around to accommodate someone else?

Was unsure about Diouf at the start of the season but really warming to the guy now. Always looks likely to score which is the sign of a good striker. Needs to anticipate things a bit quicker and if that can be learned we've got a top striker on our hands.

Diouf is no goalscorer. He's not a premier league player. Just fast and strong. He plays in the Premier League. He scores in the Premier League. He is a Premier League player, our best striker and was one great save away from scoring in 4 consecutive games. My opinion is he is not technically good enough. He has missed a lot of easy chances and has been lucky to score that many goals. I think we can do better. I don't dislike him. Just frustrates me and often we struggle to turn the screw on teams when he is the lone striker because the ball just bounces off him.maybe he will improve but if I were hughes I'd replace him with a Charlie Austin or Patrick Bamford

A few of his goals have been lucky. Meanwhile he has missed easy chances at crucial times. he missed an absolute sitter at Blackburn which would have finished the game. Misses as bad as that can turn the game. This is just my opinion. I think we are an established premier league club that could easily attract better. Because of his sheer athleticism and selflessness though he is a useful player to have in the squad.

He has missed a lot of easy chances and has been lucky to score that many goals. You probably lose the credibility of any reasonable points you have posting shit like that. Honestly, and I've said this for a long time, persist with him up top and give him the sevice and support similar to yesterday, and you have a 20 goal striker there. He's on 10 from 20 odd starts (mostly on the wing) in his first year, cutting a pretty frustrated shadow most games.

I think his 'technical' ability is fine - the way he finished that rebound a couple of weeks ago for example. He's a good header of the ball too. Strong and pacey the lad has just got better and better. Can't really believe we are debating his worth, he may not get in Real Madrid's first eleven but as a squad member at SCFC what's not to like??

I dont think he is a twenty goal a season striker. He isnt technically proficient on the ball. just my opinion. in terms of luck I can think of a few goals of his off the top of my head that anyone could have scored. Everton, west brom, I can think of a lot of chances missed my three year old could have scored. Hopefully, if we are going to press on with him, you'll be proven correct. But the manager doesn't seem to be convinced by him in the central striker role. I think he is a very useful squad player but I think Hughes will be looking for a natural goalscorer in the summer. Diouf is just not one of those.

Diouf is just not one of those. You can argue his technique, or his "anyone could have scored's"; but I'll raise you Inzaghi, Van Nistelrooy, and other world class goal-scorers with the same 'issues'. He killer nack he lacks, he makes up for in work rate and speed. As you say, it's your opinion, but it certainly flies in the face of all but 3 turbulent seasons of his career.

I'm so chuffed for Diouf. The lad went to Germany, put those spitting incidents behind him, sorted his game out and now he chose us to come back to us and he's got 10 goals. All you moaners shut the **** up I think you are thinking of El Hadj Diouf with the spitting. Our Diouf has never spat at anyone.

He makes smarter runs than Cameron Jerome, but having watched how benteke brings the ball down and can boss the front line I feel like we've taken a sideways step in Diouf. Energy and pace is great, and I fully agree he needs players behind him who can play to his strengths but im glad we didnt spend £8m+ on him.
