Yes. Even our friend Trevor Francis said it was harder than it looked. It was a tremendous finish. I think Diouf is that sort of player more often than not and is more of an instinctive player. To be alert and to get over the ball and hit it so well showed great technique. He does little things that others don't that help him sniff out chances (see his premeditated run for his goal against Palace), and he gets his shot in so quickly that he doesn't have to be as precise as other strikers: the ball is in the net before the keeper has even prepared himself. This makes up for the fact he's never going to be a Robbie Fowler type coolly rolling the ball into the corner of the net. As others have said, he will do better next season as our players get better at spotting his runs, and perhaps play to his strengths with more crosses. I would also bet he himself will put this year's experience to good use, as he now seems to better understand where the chances are likely to appear in the English game. His technique is often clumsy, but he is a very intelligent player.

I have to say he has scored more than I thought he would, still think his overall game is lacking but if he keeps sticking it in the back of the net that'll do.

A great front man. We dearly miss his pace when he is out of the squad. At times he seems isolated but when teams like Saints play with such attacking fullbacks that is going to happen! 10 goals so far with the chance to add to it. Considering he has spent a lot of games out wide he has done really well.
People have been crying out for a 15-20 goal front man. Well, we have one in Diouf and people still aren't happy???? If he were to have played as the out and out front man he'd have been around 15 now I think.

All I can say is Fuller was seen as a God, but his best ever premier league haul was 11 and he played virtually every game and as main striker. Diouf has 10 and spent a month in Africa and played mostly on the wing

1 in 3 has been a very decent return from Mame so far.
It actually could and should have been a few more which is encouraging for next season.

And that's from someone who thinks Mame is doing well.

Yes I like Diouf, he's had a good season. We do need to strengthen up front for next season though.

Would I be correct in saying that only SJW went to celebrate with him, seemed the case on MOTD and what I noticed at the time he scored.

I like him, I think his poor touch to start with was him 'trying too hard' & confidence. When he came on at West Ham it was sticking nicely to him, if he could build that side of his game he's going to be incredible. I like Diouf and hope Hughes realises he need playing in behind and into the channels as some of his runs are outstanding. Dare I say it, I think he could get 20 next season if utilised properly.

His touch has improved in recent weeks though, which is hugely encouraging, and his instincts are superb.

Absolutely right,The one touch lay off in the build up to Arnie's goal at West Ham and his cute finish on Saturday were very encouraging.

Diouf is doing just fine though.

I think mame is a more clinical finisher than ric. Agreed, we all have rose tinted glasses where ric is concerned and rightly so the bloke will go down in folklore but let's not kid ourselves if ric was that good he'd have been taken from us before he had the chance to write his history with us. He scored most his goals in an inferior league and could go missing for weeks at a time Diouf has only had one season and has been played out of position for a large percentage of it add to it that he is on course to finish the season in double figures in the premier league in his first year and it's no contest really.
