I don't understand why when you've got one of the fastest player in the league up front you don't put the ball into the channels for him to chase. Also with a target man, you use him as a target.....to play directly to him especially when a tortoise is quicker. To do the complete opposite was baffling. We're using Diouf massively wrong and have been all season (I've been moaning about it all season), he could get us 15 league goals a season easily if played up front and if we actually play through balls and balls into the channel to him. And if we did that then a midfielder making a late run into the box would see some great chances .... A strength of our Charlie. And Bojan and Ireland....... I would never start Adam but bringing him on yesterday at half time was definitely the right call. I was surprised it was for Ireland (but we thought he looked injured). It's a real simple equation imo, we need some wingers and full backs (Geoff in particular was an abomination with the ball at his feet yesterday) that can cross to Diouf as he's ace in the air. And we need Bojan back to thread some through balls to him and Fonzy needs to bloody well practise them too.

If he scores more than 5 goals I'll be absolutely amazed, I can see now why he failed in the Prem last time around. This guy knows his stuff. On the ball as usual.

When you consider he's only started 24 league games (5 sub appearances as well) all season to gave netted 9 times with 5 games still to go is pretty impressive.

He definitely got hurt about the 30th - 35th minute and I thought at one point he was looking to the bench to get replaced before half time.

Scored the same amount of premier league goals as Pelle. The so called signing of the season no in Novemeber last year. We've certainly go our selves a bargain with Diouf.

The lad scores goals, especially when played through the middle. Like Bayern said, it's so frustrating we don't play more through balls to him. He was screaming for them yesterday and making some really good runs, felt sorry for him when he was subbed.

Best signing by any club this season. Absolutely delighted he's proved the doubters (myself included) wrong.

Had a little laugh to myself when the pair behind me yesterday were moaning about how he's never in a the right place at the right time, approximately 30 seconds before he scored.

Bizarre as that seems to be his best trait! I can think of at least 3 goals where he was just stood in the right place to score or even the ball just hitting him and going in!!

I think a lot of people have understated his finish yesterday. It's a superb half volley that was a lot more difficult than it looked.
Great finish.

He's been a better buy than Bojan this season.
The stick he gets is unbelievable.

It's hard to tell if some folk are serious because some of the comments are just daft. Diouf has done well for us this season and will be better next.

I am not Dioufs biggest fan but his goal return is perfectly reasonable given the number of games he has played and the positions/roles he has been asked to play. If we play him up top with a couple of quick wingers and Bojan behind he could get us 15 PL goals a season.

Even our friend Trevor Francis said it was harder than it looked. It was a tremendous finish. I think Diouf is that sort of player more often than not and is more of an instinctive player. To be alert and to get over the ball and hit it so well showed great technique.

I think his attempted overhead kick in the first half deserves a special mention. He was closer to the Soton player's head than the ball and my God if he connected with the bloke's head it would have been half way to the moon! I've never seen a leg move so quick.

He did appear to be tiring when subbed I was expecting SJW to go off, however he played a better game with Crouch.

Dear onlooker did not have him labelled as useless - FFS ? go find the bloody post where I was saying that it does not exist utter bollocks Useless was too strong a word and incorrect, but to be fair you had written him off: We got lucky We are an incredibly frustrating team to watch at present - so much talent - so lacksadasical though, its just not true multiple arse kickings needed and as for Douif - Im begining o fear I was correct a week or three back
i.e. you dont get decent premier league strikers on free transfers - it just does not happenand lastly Bojan amazing talent but - so sloppy at times today oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/233833/jesus-weptThe silence is deafening.

Diouf is probably the most underated striker I've seen at Stoke, he's always in the right position, all that lets him down is his control, other than that he's a quality forward

He's been mildly frustrating at points this season, but the goals and points they've secured have been absolutely crucial.

He is actually a very good finisher. If he gets a good chance it's very often in the net sharpish.I think he was taken off early to save him for the rest of the season, given that Crouch is injured and struggling with his groin.

good player diouf, how come he doesn't celebrate though? I think the initial footage wasn't clear but he actually stood there with clenched fists and "pumped up" face until the players arrived when he broke into a big smile. Not orthodox granted but he looked happy enough.
