I'd have sent India out again.
We now have the conundrum of what is a safe lead. As we know AC is a hugely cautious bloke and you could see us running out of time again.
Jimmy would be buzzing after getting a fivefer and I don't think India would have relished batting again.
Hopefully it'll all pan out OK but I like decisive actions in sport and enforcing the follow on is a really aggressive move in my eyes and one I'm a fan of.

yeah, looks like negative captaincy to me, but the follow-on seems to be deeply out of fashion.
The argument goes that your bowlers get the chance to rest up.
I think England will win anyway and it will become a non-issue.

if we tries to score quick runs and smash them, because realistically we only need a 2nd innings score of 150 to add to the lead should see us through i would understand but
when faced with these instances we usually score slowly or bat too long

how broken was swann, was his retirement linked to the new regime Well he retired in the middle of the series in Australia , the new regime hadn't come in then .He says he was struggling that much could barely get his arm over to bowl when i say new regime, i include th ebehind scenes problems all too sudden for me really

I don't get this the bowlers need a rest. How many bosses will give you a day off because you just worked an 8 hour shift?

Enforcing the follow on would have been a bad move - mainly because, as explained in an earlier post, our negative selection policy for this game means we only have two bona fide front line test bowlers in the team. Anderson and Broad who took 8 wickets between them in the first innings are going to need to repeat that in the second to force a win. They need a rest. But, now Cook needs to show his aggressive side. You're on top. Force the advantage - score 250 runs at double quick time, declare and pick up a couple of wickets this evening.

If we go out and smack them all over the park then there won't be an issue at all. It's if we fanny about where the problems start. Edit: At our current 4 and a bit an over then there shouldn't be an issue.

If Test players are playing far too much Cricket these days, should we revert back to when you had a rest day in the middle of a Test? The schedule is far to crowded as it is with three days between Tests , if there are rest days that would mean an extra seven days cricket lost this season It won't happen

Away from this match, Kallis has now retired from all international forms of the game.
166 Tests, 292 wickets at 32.65, + 13,289 runs at 55.37 with 45 hundreds.

to be fair to umpires they have taken to replays and are not afraid or embarrassed to stand by the replay
however the standard of umpiring seems to have slipped almost to where umpires let the tele make the important calls

but momentum can cure tiredness you only get tired when getting hit over the park Only to a certain extent , when you've bowled a certain amount of overs you get tired, and when you are tired you don't bowl as effectively

If the technology is there it has to be used , this match only continues to show that the Indians are wrong not to accept DRS
