I had some sympathy but you can bollocks now It's easy for you to say that the tax payer is worse off etc. you forget that they wrote off 1.3mill owed from a total 2.8mill. Then you have the mess of liquidation. The land which on VP is built would cost 5million of tax payers money to deal with. The money spent by the council while in administration which I think was around 400k was paid back in full. If we had gone into liquidation then the clubs assets would have been sold resulting in the council recouping it's money. You need to get over the fact that the city council "bailed" us out. This post is nuts. On the one hand you're arguing that Vale Park represents a liability for the council and that liquidiation would prove more costly than bailing the club out. On the other hand you're arguing that the council would recoup it's losses if the assets were sold in the event of liquidation. Try and stay consistant, eh.

Agree fully with the Rudge comments. The best manager we ever had and will ever have. Bill Bell was an enigma but he left us in a mess after pushing to try and get us somewhere far beyond out means. V2001 was set up with good intentions but too many cooks spoil the broth and all that and Bill Bratt put his trust in the wrong people and they had no money to invest and pretty much zero business sense. I aren't here looking for sympathy but to defend the fact that I don't believe football clubs deserve to go bust because of dodgy owners. Football is seen as a cash cow and when it goes wrong then it's fans that suffer! We have fans who are 8-9 years old... They don't deserve to lose their football club. Fans who have watched Vale for 60+ years don't deserve to lose their football club. You may hate us and we may hate you but that's football! you make a valid point , but you wont get any violins on here. Like some of said, many of us remember the Billy Bigbollox attitude in the 90,s and don't forget. The majority of vale fans would have seen us go to the wall and laugh their bollox off. What goes around comes around.

Vale will never make it to the prem and I like the fact a club from the city I'm from hosts some of the best players in the world. The shit you got with Tony Pulis was easy. We can't argue anymore that you are a well established, well ran football club signing players like Bojan!

But you should have gone to the wall twice in recent memory, most Stoke fans never thought we would make it to the PL but we did, we have never opted for administration as a way of reneging on our debts, we had to sell our best players often to stay afloat on the other hand your poxy club has lived beyond it's means twice in recent times. As a business PV are a liability, the council invested wisely in Stoke City making a substantial profit, they invested poorly in Port Vale and made a substantial loss. As a business it is a lame duck it needs despatching to put it and the rest of the tax paying/debt paying residents out of their misery, to top it off your captain next season is a diehard Stoke fan who many Vale fans labelled as a thug whilst he played for Stoke, you couldn't make this shit up, now get your buckets ready for your next begging session.

It's sad how bitter you are.. Are you one of the fans who embarrassingly still bang on about Shawcross doing Ramsey in?

But only one club has cost the council money. I agree that the council has benefited from you making it to the premier league. My problem with the thread is the enjoyment some of you got from the possibility of us getting wound up. You got PC and we got Bill Bratt. This is not correct. The council made money from the stadium each year even when the club failed to make the play offs in whatever the third division was called at the time.

A Vale fan calling a Stoke fan bitter what a pisser , still eating them sour grapes are you god that must hurt after 7 years, you should be sponsored by Gaviscon, by the way the ones banging on are Arsenal fans and the media, Pride of the Potteries , Wembley of the North The Brit is a Council house

Pointless fixture for us. It would be a no win game for us and a win win for them. We're expected to beat them as we're the "Premier league club", if they beat us (extremely unlikely) it's another statistic for the giant killers. They've always been a bit of a bogey side for us but I would like to see us play them now, I personally think we'd absolutely bstter them 5 or 6 nil. Mate who's a derby fan said that the gulf was massive when we beat them in the cup the other year as we were just too strong

If we did draw them in the cup would all S-o-T council tax payers be allowed in for free as they do technically own them by default ?, now that would be really funny.

Everything to lose but a lot of pride to gain. I want it You want it The majority of the board want it Let hope it happens. A lot of pride? How can we gain a lot of pride? I think in the pride stakes we're pretty much ridiculously ahead of Vale nowadays do you not think? I wouldn't even start to have what the kids call "banter" with my Vale supporting mates because it's pointless, we're worlds apart currently. But let's just say hypothetically we play Port Vale in the 3rd Round of this seasons FA Cup. We win 2-0. Do we get lots of pride in that? We should beat a League 1 team taking everything into consideration, and you know it, and Vale know it. How could you start to try to take the piss and laud it over a Vale fan afterwards "Yeah, we beat you! 2 nil to the Premier League" So? All you'd hear back is "yeah, well you should beat us, but you were shit though" or summat. How can you give it the big 'un over a League 1 team like that? Doesn't work. There is everything to lose and nothing to gain, unless we won like 8-0 or summat, which wouldn't happen anyway. Imagine if we drew and played shite, or lost and played shiter? Blimey O'reilley, no thanking you! They currently have no ammo (or money) at all, and you want to give them the opportunity to have some? Crazy poop. I'm not going to post anymore on this because this chestnut appeared before and sidlittle' called me boring, and i hate it when he does that. He weally huwt my fweelings. The tosspot I may post this again before the 3rd Round draw (if Vale are still the cup at that point) but until then. Vale v Stoke? Ever again? No way Pedro.

Erm but we did pay it back...... Unlike the million/two you got given. You paid it back because of Peter Coates. A man you hounded out before he was willing to bail you out. I would imagine the discount you got on The Brit was probably significantly more than the debt they wrote off for us. Err, not bitter much? So what, a local Stoke fan (from Fail's part of the city too, bad luck) took over his local club, and put his own money in (made largely from a company that employs local people, Stoke and Fail fans alike). That's upto him, and perhaps he did owe some pennance from his previous spell too. It's not our fault Robbie can't be arsed with you I remember a brief spell when we were the poor neighbours in the city, on the pitch and finance-wise, but you never had or never will have, the potential or support to sustain that.

Even when it was pretty even, even games when we beat them, Stoke-Vale games we're nearly always wank.

Like a wounded animal thats been hit by a car, the Vale need to scamper off into the bushes to die. It's over. Totally unsustainable and an embarrassment to the City. Surely not a third council bail out? It's crap like this that forces cuts on the likes of the Gladstone Pottery museum. Where's the dignity ffs? Call it a day. Look, i'm all for two teams in the City but not if one of them can't control its finances and balance the books, especially after two previous bailout scenario's. Sorry Valey's, it's sad news, but the games up. Now get them corners filled in.

This is all pretty simple really, all that needs to happen is this. Uncle Peter has a dig down the back of the sofa. Down there along with the remote to his old betamax and half of a Jacobs cream cracker will be some small change. He takes this to the Smurf who thinks he's been offered magic beans. Deal done uncle Peter sells off the ground to a Mr Tesco and with the profit fills in the corners at the Brit. One section of 25 seats can be set aside for any new supporters from Boslem to cater for their needs to see proper football. Everyone's a winner.
Simples.
