I think the first Planet of the Apes film is my favourite. The moods created by the music and the memorable back drops give the film a great back ground, as the story unfolds. The clever script co-wrote by Rod Serling, makes sly comments about race relations, the generation gap, religion and the role of government. It might even be described as sci-fi satire. It's stuffed full of memorable dialogue and one of the best twists in cinema history. Gotta love it for that I'm not certain , but I think Rod Serling wrote the scripts for the original Twilight Zone T.V. Series ?

Serling wrote, created and hosted many twilight zone episodes. These episodes had similar twists and comments about America (McCarthyism etc), so Planet of the Apes has an obvious influence.

I always had a secret crush on 'Marina' out of thunderbirds after failing into the paddling pool head first at the bottom of Pittshill and sustaining a nasty blow to the forehead. The worrying thing is that I still do.

Right, no fannying about you lot. What is the best Sci-Fi film ever made? And no Minnie, Morph from Tony Hart doesn't count as "a flim". My choice: I keep telling thee, and no-one listens...it's John Carpenters's 1974 low budget epic. "Dark Star". By a mile. Late comer ....I did this thread a couple of years ago , along with best Western and best British War film ...still interesting to read the replies though

Yes most definitely. I couldn't afford a pair mesen , so I borrowed a pair from a member of the Chell Heath hit squad.
Chell Heath was the Pits.....even by Fegg Hayes standards. One car per street and if it had wheels , then you knew it was stolen.
Most weren't proper thorough breds .....neckenders !

Oh god, not the old "book is better than the film" Craig? Please not that.Bedtime for me. But it is.Have you read the book? The film is very good, especially in how a future city would look.(Always thought this was how Mega City 1 would look in Judge Dredd) But it isn't as good as the book. No, not read it Craig. You obviously rate it as a good read then? How did the book end? Was Deckard a replicant? Something inside tends to stop me picking up hard SF books, no matter how well recommended they come. Like most folks though, i've read the dystopian classics.

Right lads, down tools. A great treat here for all us Sci-Fi goons - a full episode of U.F.O.
When I was 10 I used to feel all funny whenever I saw those purple haired Angels and the ladies in the string vests in SkyDiver.
