Eurosport has chosen our very own Geoff Cameron as man of the match yday, giving him an 8/10 rating and describing him as 'rock solid' in the heart of defence. I have always rated Geoff very highly and to think that there are people on this board who advocate that wilko should be in the starting line up ahead of him is truly mind- boggling.

We should be selling him apparently...... This from the poster who has actively been campaigning for Palacios to be given a regular midfield start ( massive smiley )

Some said he was our player of the half season as well but that wasn't true.
Glad he played well though. He was never even mentioned in the 20 mins I saw.

Well done Geoff, I'm glad he's done us proud on the world stage.
Note that he played centre back - he may prove to be a useful player there, but he is never, ever, ever, ever a right back.

Wingie got plenty of praise when he came on as sub as well. Anybody see how Bego performed against the Argies?

Who reported that? The Onion? Not saying he played poor or anything but Brooks gets it hands down you consider all the circumstances.

Wingie got plenty of praise when he came on as sub as well. Anybody see how Bego performed against the Argies? If the Nigerian coach doesn't play Wingie from the start in the next game he's an idiot. Technically, Wingie was by far the best of their attacking players last night. He looked to be aware of what was going on around him, which is more than you can say about most of his team mates. The downside was that, in the formation Wingie was forced to play in when he came on he often had to come far too deep to pick up the ball. It was as if he had to be the best midfielder as well as the best striker.

Be interesting to see where LMH decides Geoff's best position is this season.Could he play alongside Ryan, is he a better CD than Mark Wilson?.He's our utility player being cover for RB now and CM if we get injuries.Excellent player to have in the squad.

Brooks was dreadful.
Geoff had a stormer last night.
Still hard to see him as first choice anywhere in our team next season.

I didn't catch the match last night but I'm relieved to read that we have one 'international class' centre back in our squad. Well done, Geoff.

Like many have pointed out , he played a solid performance but nothing that warrants a MOM award.

He was absolutely fantastic. The commentators were piling the praise on him and he's been awarded man of the match. He was blocking everything and winning every header. He was at no fault for the goal as Brooks switched off. Very proud of our Yankee doodle.

The man who played the most influential part. The outstanding performer.

Like many have pointed out , he played a solid performance but nothing that warrants a MOM award. Who are these 'many'? Well , our golf club was packed with England supporters ....not too many Stokies though. That could play a part....they weren't as biased perhaps. I happen to agree with them. A solid performance none the less.

I wouldn't say hammer, just very quick to downplay his efforts and damn him with faint praise. I'd like to know what solutions the Golfing fraternity have come up with to solve the Rooney dilemma though. Woy should seek their counsel...

Starting to think there's an anti USA undertone on the oatcake
