With losing their first game England will be really up for it! A game of two halves could go either way but think we will win it. But I also thought we'd beat Italy. Still sulking.

This is going to make Graham Taylor's attempts look a whole lot better.
Roy needs to start thinking up his catch phrase or he's never going to get into the adverts!

Welbeck left, Rooney central and Sterling right. Play our best players in their best positions.
Two genuine holding midfielders rather than Stevie Me charging off and leaving whoever is alongside him to get picked apart.
Soneone with pace in defence to deal with Suarez. You can guarantee he'll go straight for Johnson's throat if he plays.

Sod the world rankings, I've been saying for weeks Uruguay look a poor side (imo). Their 4-4-2 formation, Cavani having a nightmare whenever I watch him, no Maxi Pereira, Diego Lugano's concrete filled boots and Suarez not being fit will all play into our hands. Confident of a 3-1 victory.

Personally, I think we played really good on Saturday night and from what I have seen from Uruguay & Costa Rica, we should win our last two in a comfortable fashion. We lost against a world class tournament team but we certainly held our own and, in my opinion, if we were to play Italy again this week we would beat them if we played like we did.
It seems England got a lot of plaudits in the foreign press for how we played as well. We lost but nobody wants to play us.

Absolutely agree with Britsabroad, General and Millsy above.
No fear of failure and go for it against an average Uruguay. Suarez can't be fully fit, and he's the only one that can hurt us.
We kept the ball so much better and looked really dangerous when possession changed. our quick breaks could kill them.
Wellbeck left, Rooney centre, Sterling right. I don't think this will restrict Sterling, but we'll get so much more out of Rooney and the team as a whole.
I also thought Italy again demonstrated why they are so good at tournament football.
Tactically aware and flexible, used possession to dictate and control the pace of the game, brilliant at disrupting play or fouling when necessary high up the pitch before attacks or breaks develop, took their chances when they arrived. They may not have the fire power to do really well, but it would not surprise me to see them in the semis. They just know how to play international tournament football. We don't.

Suarez isn't fit! I think he'll play with one knee though when you see what Demba Ba can do with EKS it's scary what could happen? Yipes!!! I do think we'll win providing Woy plays round pegs in round holes!

Agree with the comment that Italy are a tournament hardened team, it showed against us. They are masters at grinding out a result. And that has been true as long as I have been watching World Cup football, they are usually in the mix at the end. Our young players will learn at lot from this, as it is something they have not been exposed to. Our kids have pace, skill and confidence going forward, which all add up to a defenders nightmare. This second game is a huge test for them. I really hope they can pull it off because it is great to watch. For me our Achilles heel is our defence, it will need protecting properly if we are to survive.

Costa Rica didn't beat Uruguay because they're better than we thought, they won because Uruguay were far worse (especially at the back) than we thought (and i never thought much of them to begin with to be honest.) without Canvani and Suarez, Uruguay are a poor side. i desperately hope we win on thursday as well to make things a bit more comfortable for us but if we don't and only manage a draw then things are still far from over* * based on Italy winning on Friday too which i think is a given

Hart Johnson Jagielka Cahill Shaw Gerrard Sterling Ox-Chamberlian Rooney Sturridge Lambert shaw in a game we have to get something out of??? Baines was completely exposed because of Rooney on Saturday so as long as we sort that then Baines will be fine and Ox and Sterling in more central roles with only Gerrard (who was awful on saturday) to cover them???? -----------------------------------------Hart---------------- ------------------ Johnson-------- Jags------------ Cahill--------------- Baines ----------------- ---------------------------------------Gerrard---------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------Barkley------------------------------------------- Sterling----------------------------------------------------------------Lallana----------------- -------------------------------------Rooney---------------------------------- --------------------------------------Sturridge-----------------------------

Should have used to dots like yourself. Sterling and Ox still out wide so it would be a diamond formation in the midfield. That way all our best players are played in their proper positions with an attacking outlay.

The keeper and the back 6, in the Manager's eyes, picks itself. I'd play Shaw all day. Baines is out of his depth and another poor show could be catastrophic. I know he was exposed on Saturday but he was abject all the same. I'd go Barkley behind Sturridge with Welbeck and Sterling left and right. Dropping Rooney might give him the rocket he needs. If we don't win, and God forbid lose, I'd drop Gerrard from the last match.

I've had second thoughts on this one.. I was thinking if the Ox was fit he should start instead of Rooney. However, knowing Uruguay are likely to line up 4-4-2 with Maxi Pereira suspended and Cáceres looking dodgy against Costa Rica (to say the least) we simply have to have Sterling and Welbeck's pace out wide exploiting that weakness. Due to there being more space in the midfield that will give Rooney far more opportunity to make an impact, hopefully.
Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Welbeck Rooney Sterling Sturridge
.. for this game anyway.

Our defence will struggle against players half the class of Suarez, I just hope we can score more than one against them or we are going home.

If we go out to attack both teams, i think they will both struggle to get behind our defence. I thought Costa Rica looked really poor the other night and then beat an overrated Uraguay team 3-1. We should win both of these games comfortably. If after losing the first game roy decides on a defensive approach we could mess it up. Come on England.

So roy thinks Suarez has to shine in a World Cup to be classed as great, god help us with Rooney then
Play Rooney in his favoured position or don't play him. This is a game we should win comfortable
It's now looking criminal that Ashley cole isn't available
