Hart Johnson Cahill Jags Baines Gerrard Henderson Milner Sterling Lallana Sturridge At least for the first hour so we're not out of the game. Much more protection for the full backs and no dog shit Rooney. Never happen though!

Our defence will struggle against players half the class of Suarez, I just hope we can score more than one against them or we are going home. Because its not like they play against players like him all the time is it? Johnson Gerrard and Henderson should know his game fairly well too. Wonder if thats got anything why this Englapool team was picked

Hart, Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines, Gerrard, Ox, Sterling, Rooney, Lallana, Sturridge.
Bring Barkley and Welbeck as impact subs. Lambert as well.

Realistically is Woy going to keep the same team, apart from switching Sterling and Rooney?
Lallana's not getting much of a shout in the press as a starting option.

Could be Grapey but I'd rather keep it a little tighter and play Lallana instead of Welbeck. The Ox would be the best option to be honest as he's good going forward and full of energy and able to cover his full back but I'd guess he'll be on the bench for this one. You'd don't drop Rooney, you just play him in his preferred and proper position. Anyway, Woy won't do it and nor should he. I can see this being quite a physical game so our own discipline will be key too.

For me rooney has to play. Play him just behind sturridge and put sterling out wide Rooney is one of them players who can produce a goal out of nothing

I've had second thoughts on this one.. I was thinking if the Ox was fit he should start instead of Rooney. However, knowing Uruguay are likely to line up 4-4-2 with Maxi Pereira suspended and Cáceres looking dodgy against Costa Rica (to say the least) we simply have to have Sterling and Welbeck's pace out wide exploiting that weakness. Due to there being more space in the midfield that will give Rooney far more opportunity to make an impact, hopefully. Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Welbeck Rooney Sterling Sturridge .. for this game anyway. spot on

IF Rooney is being played in his best position then yes, play him definitely. if not then don't play him at all, fucks about with the rest of our setup too much and we look worse for it.

Hart
Johnson . Cahill . Jagielka . Baines
Henderson . Gerrard
Sterling . Barkley . Lallana/Chamberlain
Sturridge
And that back 4 is chosen very begrudgingly.

I would go
Hart
Johnson Cahill Jags Baines
Barkley Gerrard
Sterling Lallana Ox (if fit)
Sturridge

for me
Hart
Johnson Cahill Jags Baines
Jones Gerrard
Sterling Rooney Welbeck
Sturridge
Barkley would be wasted as a holding player, Id love to drop Gerrard but out of all the players who position is safe its his. Which is sad as hes the one that should be dropped

Funny how before the game Italy weren't all that and after the game they are one of the best teams in the competition. Laughable.
Defeat against Uruguay for me. We aren't good enough defensively. 2-1.

I think the result could depend on Saurez and how much he can con the Ref. with his diving and cheating. If he does dive for a penalty and Uruguay win the game because of it,all the Liverpool players next season should give the cunt a kicking in the showers.

If the Ox is fit, chuck him in for Welbeck switch Rooney and Sterling and we'll absolutely destroy Uruguay, and that's egardless of Suarez, Cavani etc. Their defenders are Championship standard at best. Get in front and stay in front. COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!!!!

Really can't see us winning. Draw and hope we can beat Costa Rica and hope the Italians do is a favour and win all three games. That's our best hope in my opinion.

Exactly the same team as against Italy but switch Sterling and Rooney. Wont change the way Sterling plays at all and will improve Rooney.
The Racing Post preview before the Uruguay v Costa Rica game said that the Uruguay defence was awfully slow which was proved spot on.
Overall we played quite well against Italy so it would be mental to make wholesale changes just because we lost.
Speed kills and it especially kills slow cumbersome defenders. Play exactly the same way and on 60-70 minutes bring on some more pace & guile in the form of Barkley, Lallana, and the Ox if fit.

A gallant 2-1 defeat to Uraguay, followed by a 3-1 win to IC would be good, with the main thing being that they sang the national anthem with gusto and should therefore still be welcomed back as heroes. The 3-1 win will justify that we're on the right track and the team should still be picked on the basis of media love-ins with individuals. We will of course need a sacrifice which will be handed on a platter if Rooney fails to score but we have hapless Roy Hodgson as the man to fall on his sword for the press. To provide a catalyst for radical change, 2 6-0 drubbings would do nicely.

If Woy continues with a 4-2-3-1 who can he play instead of the Gerrard - Henderson combo? Gerrard just doesn't do it for me. Would rather see Barkley-Henderson myself but Woy would neverdo that? Would he?

Would he? Gerard was absolutely awful on Saturday and gave the defence no protection at all - is it any wonder Liverpool conceded so many goals last season? Personally I would go with Jones and Milner - it's never going to happen mind.

Its a game neither can afford to lose so I don't think there'll be many goals. Some in the media are saying a draw wouldn't be a bad result.
