Aren't you still jizzing at the thought of palacios and whitehead in midfield ? Fuck me !!! Delap is the best defensive midfielder we've had in the prem. He could do all the defensive work but still get forward and chipped in with the odd goal, despite playing in the cage. Whelan hasn't got a positive bone in his body. Begovic is now more prolific than Glennda. Seriously WD you have lost it mate

As good second half of the season as he was bad the first half.
Now looks to go forward, benefited from better coaching.

Excellent yesterday but for all round best player of the season has to be Ryan or Bego.

A revelation who just always seems to come back even more determined before becoming pivotal to our success.
I'm with whoever said he's one of the best signings ever made. I've always backed him against his critics, which has always seemed completely unjust anyway.
It's good to see players like him getting recognised for doing what he does. Good on him.

I'd still have Bego (who was a million miles in front in the first half of the season) and Shawcross ahead of him. But he has been superb, no doubt about it. Real old school character. Shows no emotion on the pitch, even during goal celebrations! Just works his absolute balls off for 90 minutes at all times in the key area of the pitch - and has shown he's got a lot more about him than was evident while he was caged! Have to agree with this. Really never rated Whelan at all but he's been very good for most of the season. Could have easily been awarded motm against Fulham.

Pulis and Hughes obviously realise how vital a component he is.

I slated Whelan a while back but he has come on leaps and bounds over the last few months. Looks forward instead of back. Definitely benefitting from the coaching we now have.
However, to say he is POTY after 3 good months is fucktardery of the highest order.
Ryan Shawcross has been CONSISTENTLY our best player. Stoke City colossus.

I slated Whelan a while back So did I, I used the word 'wank' pretty often in The Pulis Years. I'm happy to eat humble pie, because he's transformed himself under LMH.

The OP and thread title is "Player of the Season".
There are only two contenders, and Glennda isn't one of them. It's as simple as that.
End of thread.

Opinions. Shawcross and Bego are more than worthy contenders and no arguments from me if either win it. But for sheer inspirational, never say die, bouncebackability I think Glenn is another worthy contender.

Glenn Whelan, player of the season? This time last year I'd have laughed my spleen out of my japseye at the notion, now its entirely plausible and I wouldn't raise an eyebrow if it happened. He's been outstanding, absolutely outstanding and a credit to his manager and the club.

Glenn gets my vote. It's been a pleasure to watch him this season, he's a true professional, obviously respected by his teammates and makes you proud to be a Potter! More of the same next season please

Whelan is definety the most improved player under Sparky, but player of the season has got to be Shawcross or (in my opinion) Begovic.

Explain to me what he's done wrong then? He isn't because Bego and Ryan have been excellent from the get-go. To not have him in even in your top five is retarded.

As already said he is still behind both Begovic and Shawcross in the player of the season race but he comes a very commendable 3rd. It's no coincidence that Glen coming back into team coincided with an upturn in our form and performances. When he came back into the starting XI against Sunderland towards the end of November we hadn't won since the end of August. He came back in he helped tighten us up defensively and give our midfield the bite it had desperately been missing.
