I like Assaidi and stuck up for him on here before the Chelsea game when loads had written him off, but he's still very hit and miss. He's been in and out of the side and his final ball and decision making still need a lot of work. He's an exciting talent who will get better but he hasn't made himself the untouchable that Arnie has. For that reason, £7m is absolutely mental and we should walk away rather than pay that. Probably just Liverpool's first gambit and we'll meet in the middle somewhere though. I’d go along with most of that Rob. He is hit and miss, but he’s an exciting player and I’m definitely buying into the “there’s plenty more to come” notion. I think there’s also a slice of “own player/double standards” at play. Whenever we are linked with a player the majority on here will often give it the “he’s not worth that much” line and then say “I’d want £30m for him” the second one of our own shows any promise!! I think £5m will be enough to get him and I’d say that’s about right. I just think we could get as good or better for a lot less than £7m if I'm honest WD. As you say though I don't think he'll end up costing anything like that in the end.

Still got plenty to learn if you ask me. Good little player with bags of potential, but £7m would be waaaay too much to pay.

That's how his "valuation" will ultimately be decided.

I don't exactly see a queue outside Anfield lining up to buy Assaidi at any price, never mind £7M. Someone there has obviously lost the plot. Let's just let them carry on paying his wages for the next two seasons to sit in the stands, because it's doubtful he'd even make their bench. Dipsticks.

Simple at £7M pull out. At present his maximum value is £3M (Plus injury prone). Still very raw, must be better value out there.

If Liverpool had paid £6 or £7 million for him and he'd ended up here on loan and had had EXACTLY the same season he has had with us, then would we think he was worth more now than most of us seem to do?
Is our perception of what he's worth influenced by what Liverpool originally paid for him?
We paid what £2 or £3 million for Arnie, what will he be worth now or even what will he be worth in 12 months time?
I guess we have to consider Assaidi's potential when attempting to establish what we want to pay for him now.
Having said all that, personally I haven't really got a clue what he's worth.
Fair comment Paul but I actually think that, had Liverpool paid £7M for him and he'd failed to make an impact there, had then come to Stoke and had some good games, some poor and some indifferent, then I doubt they would be claiming that his value had increased much, if at all. They paid £2.5 million for him and he made little impact with them since when he's had a handful of impressive games for Stoke. For them to see his value as having tripled on the strength of that is complete madness. I like him very much and I hope we sign him but £7 Million is bonkers.

I stated it previously and stick by my comment, Assaidi should be Sparky's main summer signing.
Our team is brilliantly balanced with him in the squad.

Anyone that questions if he's good enough needs sectioning. The way he ripped Fulham apart on his own showed exactly what he's capable of. The best player on the pitch by a huge margin. Tricks, step overs, crossing....
Looks to have more tricks than Arnie that lad.

Tricks, step overs, crossing.... Looks to have more tricks than Arnie that lad. I don't question his ability and (all in all) he's done well with us. I do, however, think we need to be a bit level headed when we are faced with a demand for £7 million for his services. He had a few outstanding games for us and quite a few mediocre games too. He may well be a fantastic signing (and I do want us to sign him) but Liverpool are taking the piss with their valuation based on what he's done since they signed him. If we can reach a sensible compromise then we should get him in. BTW: The Wolves winger looked like the best on the planet when we played Woodgate at right back.

A lot will depend on how good our scouting network is. £7million is an awful lot of money for a player who has not featured regularly for a number of reasons. We've all known that there good value to be had abroad and we should be able to find a player that costs much less. If we can get him for between 4 / 5 then it would be ok but I think there is better out there.

I bet Liverpool want no more tan £5 million & Stoke being Stoke are trying to get him for £3 million over 25 years with a 10 year warranty, we've got previous in this department. Just stump up the cash Stoke, £5 million these days is Championship signing money, ffs.
Assaidi will only get better with games.

Stoke Loud & Proud 23 May Been doing the rounds regardless but just for a little reassurance, our sources have just let us know that we've agreed a fee for the wing wizard Assaidi (Jase)

Is he really three and half times the player that Arnie is? Or inferior to Palacios and KJ? You can use any transer fee in isolation to ridicule another.

£4 million for cash. If they won't budge then offer £4.5M final offer.
If they don't go for that then enquire about another season long loan. If they don't go for that then Arnie wide left and PO wide right.
There's no way Stoke should/will pay anywhere near £7M. Maybe Brenda's changed his mind about him and with Champo League fixtures coming next season they want good strength in depth but £7M is too much for a decent but slightly hit and miss, 25 year old winger. I'd LOVE him to sign but not for anything near £7M.
Rivière is 24 and plays CF or either wing and has been quoted at £5M - £6M Saint-Étienne pld 73 goals 22 Toulouse pld 44 gls 9 Monaco pld 40 gls 14
"Thanks Oussama it's been great. Shame it hasn't worked out for us. Remember now, when you're bored shitless on the subs bench or dossing around in the U21's the fella that made all that possible for you is the one in the black tie, black shirt and black suit and has a fuck off big picture of himself in his own office. I agree he is a good, full of tricks & has a decent eye for goal, but noway is he any where near a 7 million pound player. This is why im glad we have stopped shopping in the premier league market so often because all the prices are highly inflated. Imagine if we were trying to sign Arnie from a premier league club, would be easily double figures.
