I know the question is Stoke game but fuck im breaking the rules My first game I ever watched at the Victoria Ground was England U21 v France u21 between 1991 and 1995. Robbie Fowler and Sol Campbell both played. If anyone can remember the score please let me know? I think we won 2-0 My first Stoke Game was against Norwich we lost 2-1 in the 96-97 season, Stein scored our only goal.

My first league match was Man City at home in 1966, all I can remember is us losing , getting upset and a rollicking from my mum when I got home because I had sat on the chalk/white washed wall behind the goal in the Stoke end.
Having looked it up on the web we lost 1 - 0.
Been a Potter ever since, and still going even though I live up near Hull. My old chap has got a lot to answer for, god rest his soul, he would have loved to have seenus back up where we belong in the top flight.

At the Vic, v. Brighton home about 1960, 0-0 boring, sat with my dad in a small rickety-stand next to the main Boothen stand. Think the players changing-rooms were beneath. Anyone remember that construction?

I can finally contribute to a thread like this one. This past September vs. Man City (hey, I'm a poor US based Stokie). I'm sure you all remember that game ! Was a great game though, hoping my job sends me that way again (or I'll have to foot the entire bill to fly over).

Stoke 1 Nottingham Forest 2 1966, around Dec 17th, and last year I was lucky enough to spot the reprinted match report in The Sentinel's The Way We Were.
Sometimes I think of some the folk on here as today's version of that night's grumbling old men in The Boothen Paddock who were shouting, "Bloody 'ell Stoke, you're rubbish. Ay anner comin' agin the say this," then fumigating my head in their pipe tobacco smoke.

Can't remember (poor old sod) It was in the 50s as a very young lad! and I sat with my dad in the Butler Street stand.
Started going regularly, nipping in half way through the second half when the exit gates were open during the 60s shortly after George Eastham arrived.

My first game was Feb 1957 - Stoke v. Man City in a friendly, I was 10, (got my dad to give me a lift) I went to see Bert Trautman, Manchester City's goalkeeper who was my hero, after he broke his neck in the 1956 Cup Final, and finished the game and they won the Cup. Both Stoke & Man City were knocked out of the Cup at the 3rd Round stage, so they arranged to play a friendly on the date of the 4th Round. Been a Stoke supporter ever since

For me it was 1969 about my 9th birthday a midweek match Stoke v Coventry.
We won 2 nil with both Greenhoff and Conroy scoring.
It might have been Jimmy's home debut as he'd only just been signed by Waddo from Birmingham for £100,000, what a bargain that was!
I went in the Boothen Paddock stoke end side with my late Dad.
Never ever forget the first experience of being a Stokie.

Arsenal at home 1979/80 season. In the boothen stand with my dad and grandad. We lost 3-2. Only got very vague memories of it, nothing about the game whatsoever but still have the programme.

Sheffield United at home in the 1995/6 season I think. It was an absolute demolition. We lost 4-0. Sorry to quote again mate but I seem to remember babyeuan off here being the mascot for that game ?.......not many 40 year olds get that honour ( smiley ) I was indeed mascot for my 40th birthday though not against Sheff U, it was the Tranmere game 96/97 season, I was a lucky mascot too as we won. (I'll be forever grateful to the great set of lads who I used to play 5 a side with (namecheck Werrington, **************, Arris, Jimmy, Mozzer, Gretch, Hoodi-Elbow, Brat, Tezzer, Alec, Watto) who, via some serious string pulling and friends in high places at the club, arranged it. I've still got the Stoke kit complete with the number 40 they chipped and bought me.)Absolute pisser of a day. As for my first Stoke game, I don't remember it, it was sometime around 64/65. The first game I distinctly remember was at home vs The Villa, Stoke won 6-1 and Harry Burrows scored a hat-trick, sometime around 66-67

First one I can remember is wolves at home i think it was last game of the 84 season. A solid 4-0 win. Can't be sure but I think wolves were relegated that day. I probably went to an earlier game but that's the first that I can remember

I remember Fowler scoring and I think Darren Caskey was the captain and he was awesome but never quite made it at the top level. I think the score was 2-0 but not 100% sure.

Stoke 3 Barnsley 1 in March 1988. It was a treat for my sixth birthday and we sat in the Butler Street Stand. My two biggest memories of the the day being stamping on the wooden floors every time we got a corner and Chris Kamara's "Soul Glow" hair and 'tache! Werrington and Stoke-on-Trent in general probably wasn't the most diverse area to live in during the 80's and Kamara was pretty much the first black guy I'd ever seen in the flesh!
Edit!
I beg your pardon I think the Kamara memory was from my second game the season after! All so long ago now!!

Stoke v Arsenal, 16th Dec 1967 I don't remember much but I do remember it was a sunny day with clear blue sky but freezing cold. We lost 0-1. I don't remember anything about the game but do remember their goalie had a GI Joe flat top (Big Jim Furnell) and they had a dirty centre half with white hair just like Tin Tin (Ian Ure).

Mine was the 4th Round FA Cup tie v Man City in 1976. Went with my brother(I was 8).
Night match because the Butler Street stand had blown off during that fateful stormy night a few weeks previous - we've only just recovered from that! Anyway, we won 1-0, Shilton penalty save, possibly, Bloor sent off? Not sure of any or the goalscorer(Moores?).
The atmosphere was spine tingling - full of the smell of smoke, bovril and Stemerol with plenty of singing - classics such as 'Land of Smoke and Glory' and 'We All Hate Blues'. Great stuff.
We were visiting relatives(we lived in Lytham St.Annes at the time) and made the same journey with our mum and dad 10 days later for the 5th Round clash v Second Division Sunderland - expected to win but it was 0-0. Third biggest crowd of the day at circa 41,000.
We lost the replay but the whole experience got me hooked. Having heard grandparents, uncles, etc discussing the good, the bad and the ugly it was nice to be able to see it first hand.
I will never understand how anyone can get any satisfaction and sense of place by being a gloryhunter - supporting Stoke City, the football club that represents the area where my family have lived for well over a century, was my only desire and the feeling of pride wearing the red and white stripes out and about never leaves me.

2nd Nov 1963 at home to Burnley 4-4 after we led 3-0 at half time. They battered us second half after our Eddie Clamp had been dismissed for sticking the nut on their winger John Connelly. Their final equaliser came from a Tony Allen og. Strangely enough our next home game two weeks later finished exactly the same 4-4 and once again we were 3 up at half time. 16 goals in my first two games watching Stoke.

First game I got taken too was England v West Germany schoolboys at Wembley 1971 , worst headache I've ever had 100,000 screaming school kids, we won 2-1 I think but seem to remember my first Stoke match against Wolves at the same time that would make me 11 still just at junior school, happy days.

Aged 14, two school friends took me to my first Stoke game towards the end of the 83/84 season. They'd been going for years. I went with them numerous times the following season, which was the holocaust season. As a result they decided to support Man Ure instead leaving me alone and loyal to Stoke.
So here's something I've wanted to get off my chest ever since then. Apologies in advance but it really has got to be said.
PAUL STONELEY YOU ARE A GLORY HUNTING MAN U LOVING TREACHEROUS DISLOYAL TWAT and I AM STOKE you TWAT.
Thanks for listening everyone, and sorry about all that.

I can honestly say I have no idea. Remember my mate saying he had a spare ticket and asked if I wanted to go. Don't know who we played or the exact date. All I know is it was at the vic around 94/95. just remember the atmosphere and looking out in awe across the stadium. Was in my early 20's and always listened to the games on the radio at work so the opportunity to go was grabbed with both hands when I had a weekend off. I've been hooked ever since through the bad, the very bad and the good.
