Yeah, Arsenal ran riot didn't they.
Bar the odd brain freeze he's been very good since stepping in for Huth.
Further proof that statistics can be made to say any old bollocks

To be fair that is a pretty wank 11! They would give Derby's minimum points tally a run for their money

People on here were saying Huth would have a hard time getting back into the side because of Wilson doing so well.
Things change quickly due to the odd (and to me expected) freeze though, doesn't it?
My honest opinion is that Marc has been doing a great job replacing Robert these months the German's been out due to injury. Keep it up Marc!

With all due respect, Marc Wilson isn't a centre back. We've turned him into a makeshift centre back. If they have a problem with that, they should take it up with Hughes. Wilson hasn't had a particularly good run of form to be fair, but against Arsenal he was excellent with Shawcross.

HTF isn't Smalling in that team?
Pretty much every match I've seen he's been dreadful - to the point I'm actually beginning to feel sorry for him.

So if he's none of the above and also not a centre back then what is he?

More meaningless drivel from people who clearly have too much time on their hands. He's had a few 'shockers' but just as many good performances and against top opposition too. Statistics clearly have a role to play in life but they are constantly used to validate whatever point an individual wants to make and it's all about context. Most statistics can be used and abused to prove just about anything depending on what viewpoint you approach them from. My 'pet hate' is having pass completion stats quoted at me to prove how good (or otherwise) a player is at passing the ball. Imagine you have one player who never passes the ball more than a few feet to the next guy - his pass completion rate should be in the high 90's (%) then you have a creative player who plays adventurous, defence splitting passes that get you goals week in, week out. He might only have a completion rate of 50/60% despite being a much better passer of the ball and a much better player. The STATS, however, will tell you that the first player is the better passer of the ball. It's not that I hate statistics because they CAN be useful. It's more a case that I hate how they are used to prove a point when they do no such thing.

They wouldn't dare put a Man Utd player in there... With all due respect, Marc Wilson isn't a centre back. We've turned him into a makeshift centre back. Well, I actually think he does a job in centre midfield, although I can understand your point. He's also not the worst left back we've had in recent years, I reckon Danny Collins takes that accolade. In a lot of ways, he is what he is, a utility player. He's a less talented version of Geoff Cameron, who despite being a utility player has turned out to be a fine right back. Wilson does a job at centre back, but that doesn't mean it's his natural position. We saw how Muniesa did at centre back against Everton didn't we? Has Wilson ever performed that badly?

I think he's awful in midfield myself mate and no he's not the worst left back but following the foosteps of Danny Collins helped him look amazing. Wilson had a nightmare against Liverpool at centre back from memory but my memory's not to be trusted. At this moment in time i won't slag the fella off for his performances in the position of as you say a kind of makeshift centre half, because he's done a decent job there overall. He makes me nervous though, especially if he 'thinks' with the ball at his feet, i start worrying.

Yet he's been in the teams that have beaten Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal this season.
To summarise: WANK.

Very unfair to pick him out in this way. He's done a reasonable job, given our lack of back-up centre-halves. It just shows how meaningless stats like this can be

Marc did play at CB while he was at Portsmouth (I remember him getting done by Huth in the air and RF10 on the ground for a couple of goals) - so it is one of his positions - as I'm sure he has confirmed.
He's been a mixed bag for us at CB. Just off the top of my head he has been at mistake for: - sending off and pen at Newcastle - the pen against and the poor header that costs us goals against Liverpool - being too slow to react against Palace for their goal
That's too many out and out goal costing mistakes IMHO.
He is improving though.

Being too slow to react against Palace - Was caught somewhat but Puncheon has a knack for going down.

What he does do though is provide more ability to keep the ball at the back. On Saturday we switched the ball about well at the back and kept Arsenal form getting momentum.Huth is not great with the ball at his feet and time on his hands

I don't think he's been as bad as some have made out. He's made mistakes but every mistake is poured over whilst others tend to get off scot free when committing similar errors. One thing is for sure we're still in a bit of trouble because of our failure to despatch teams at our level and our abysmal away form and that was going on long before Huth's injury.

At least he's got the highest rating in the top flops
He's had a few dodgy games but overall I think he's done a good job in a position he's not played in for a long time, a decent backup and never one to complain, hope he stays at Stoke for a long time.

Even though he's no Huth it's harsh on Marc, that is. He's been fairly solid and has grown into the position.
You've got to give him credit for the way he's stuck at it despite costing us a couple of times.

Never my first choice as a CB, but I'm sure he's not Hughes' first choice either. The whole point is, Hughes picks him, and yes, he does tend to turn off sometimes, but he does his best, which very often is enough, and very good. I could go all around our team and identify performances that are not up to standard, but we play what we have, and none of them let us down deliberately.

The Premier League is awash with this sort of statistical shite. I notice that winger Spurs paid about £30 million for but who never gets a game isnt in the line-up! Wilson is really good squad player and we need him.

He's a good left back, but he's third choice there now. He's a decent right back-third coice. He's a poor centre back-third choice and we need better. He's a dreadful central midfielder 329th choice.
Immensely dispensable for me.

He's been very hot and cold. It seems to me that when he has a good game he has a great game and when he has a bad he has a very bad game. He's been unfortunate that those bad games came in quite quick succession. He's done alright though certainly no complaints about his performance last week.
