Surely someone who's at least third in the "depth" in whichever position he plays can't be a senior pro and can't be on good (guessing 25-35k/wk) wages. Surely it's better spent on an actual centre back or central midfielder?

"Marc Wilson just seriously messed up an offside trap and it lead to a Serbia goal."
"Marc Wilson made Serbia score what a guy"

We notice Jon Walters isn't in that list. It's not a list of top 100 worst performers ! You really do have a problem.

Yeah, Arsenal ran riot didn't they. Bar the odd brain freeze he's been very good since stepping in for Huth. Further proof that statistics can be made to say any old bollocks 87.2% of all statistics are made up on the spot! ????

He's a good left back, but he's third choice there now. He's a decent right back-third coice. He's a poor centre back-third choice and we need better. He's a dreadful central midfielder 329th choice. Immensely dispensable for me. He's better than Muniesa at left back He's better than Muniesa at Centre Back He's better than Palacios in Central Midfield but then so is my Grandmother Still has a big role to play whilst the BET365 penury PR campaign is in full flow.

He probably is, he's still third choice though. Again he probably is but he's still third choice irrespective of what You think of Muniesa..... Again I aren't sure. I think both are dreadful, I would never want to see Wilson (Marc) in there again, even for a 5 minute cameo, he scares me too much on the ball. I can live with a 5 minute cameo from Wilson (Palacios).

I will just point out at this juncture that statistics have absolutely no relevance where defending is concerned. They basic stats available to the ordinary person about the defensive side of the game just don't have enough context and can't be used for any sensible conclusions. Usually someone tries to state that player x is a good defender on the basis that he made more clearances than any other player - how is the number of clearances made per game even remotely helpful in judging a player's performance?

He's been decent overall but he has his moments and they have been costly, but he doesn't deserve to be named in this 11 imo

Wilson is a great squad player. Would be ridiculous to even entertain the prospect of selling him.

Solid cover in any defensive position. That kind of flexibility is quite valuable I think.

leave it up to Leslie.......fuck the stats There's no other choice really, which is part of the problem. But I just think it'd be pretty ace if we could swap Wilson for a centre half who is actually a centre half. And Palacios for a midfielder who can play for more than 5 minutes and who isn't Wilson (Marc) because I just think he's dreadful in there.

Shawcross is a weak captain and not as good as you lot think, do any other premership teams want him, no Yesterday Wilson was the best defender again and shawcross was doing the usaul, out of position and leaving his legs open and turning his back on the ball like he is scared of it Butland 6 Cameron 6 Shawcross 3 Wilson 5 Pieters 5 N,Zonzi 6.5 Adam 7.5 Whelan 8 Arnatovic 7 Crouch 7.5 Walters 7.5 Wilson is Irish but no he wasn't. Shawcross picked up Wellbeck leaving Wilson with little to do. He never gave him a kick! Absolutly immaculate performance,, I would say decent, apart from his needless kicks into the stands giving away possesion, his man handling in the box is going to cost us at some stage and Wellback got a good header in Can see Huth and Wilson being the main partnership

Think you need to look at the bigger picture pal. Let's face it, Wilson has been given the task of replacing the almost irreplaceable in Huth, who has been amazing for Stoke since he signed. He has been excellent in some games and poor in others, but on the whole pretty good. Who else do you think should be in at CB? Shotton? Cameron? We clearly didn't have the funds in January to go and splash out £5-6M on a replacement so get a grip and get off his back.

I think if the club/management had looked at the bigger picture before the start of the season we would have had decent cover at CB, if not the January was a must for bringing in a proper CB, in my opinion he has been bang average since he signed from Pompey where he also played at CB, Mark and his team have had a nightmare utilising the loan market if as you pointed out we did not have the funds(which is conjecture) pal.

Football is all about opinions pal. In my opinion i think he's been an excellent signing for the club, and has shown himself to be a solid Premier League standard player at full back and centre back, but as i say that's my opinion.
