you never know , we have one eye on tomorrow night yet , remember being heartbroken at that age many a time watching our lot ,you have to have experienced the bad days to appreciate the good ones . Have a good day in footballs capital city. Absolutely. Its character building if nothing else. Chin up Johnno...at least you will get to see a team 'take it to them' now

I can guarantee that we will cross the half way line at least once on an attack and if we do it will be one more time than we managed in the last 3 seasons combined. One other thing for absolute certain...if Pulis was still our manager I wouldn't be going regardless of how much my boy begged me to take him. We would be watching the lego movie at the cinema instead.

Terrific day out, loads of Stoke stuff in there too. My favourite (just about) Stoke related thing was a crown built by Dave Brammer while in primary school and presented to Colin Bell.

What most of you seem to pass off as attacking - I would call suicidal.

I look at crossing the half way line as at least having a go at trying to score, you look at it as "suicide".

we got 14 points last year. we came away with something on 10 visits and nothing on 9.
you lot kept bleating how playing more attacking football would get us more wins and more points.
as Diana Ross once told us, '...and I'm still waiting'
we've conceded more goals already and have far fewer points - it will take a pretty big turnaround to get close to 14 points.
still, as long as we are 'taking the game to them'

So we would need another 8 points to match last seasons away points total?
Win at Cardiff (last season's QPR) Win at WBA (last season's WBA) And Pick up a point at both Norwich/Villa.
3 away wins and 5 draws for the season, compared with 2 wins and 8 draws last season?
If you took the away points total from this point last year - it would be 9 points consisting of 1 win and 6 draws. Currently we are on 6 points, 1 win and 3 draws.
All IF's, and MAYBE's - but you cannot compare the away points haul, until we have played ALL of our away fixtures.

But at least we try and have been pretty unlucky in a few games (Newcastle, Fulham, Spurs). Last season in most of the games the tactics were nothing more than stop the other team playing and hope something will drop. It didn't work last season and it hardly worked in the previous seasons too. At least we are trying something different. The results so far are similar (crap), but we should get better.

Well, it's possible, but we only won 2 away games in the whole of calendar 2013 (6 months of Pulis and 6 months of Hughes)so I am just not sure why we might suddenly win 2 in about 10 weeks. You sometimes wonder why we don't just concede the away program, it really is that bad and I just don't understand it.

According to some geniuses on here , our away attendances are down because of the free travel. H And at least one genius blames Pulis, (not mentioning any names). Either way our support is crap.

It did work...to a point. We got more away points last season than in our glorious 3rd season. The glorious 3rd season wasn't very glorious though was it? In fact, aside from a spell in October and a spell from March-May, it was fucking wank for large inexplicable chunks. The away defeats at Fulham and West Ham just before the cup win against West Ham are two of the worst performances I witnessed during the Pulis era. In fact, only this weekend, in extolling the virtues of the FA Cup, Danny Higginbottom said that the Stoke side looked all the world like relegation fodder until that cup win sparked our season to life. He wasn't wrong. Glorious spell is fine terminology. Glorious season really isn't because for the most part it was as boring and turgid as anything that followed in the following 2 seasons.

It's no fucking coincidence that our away support fell away while Pulis was in charge and his attitude to certain away games. You can try and re-write history if you want, but it's a lot harder getting supporters back once they have gone. Our away support is shite in the main, and has been for 3 years. H

Our chances of victory are slim to none but rather than sitting back and waiting for the inevitable, I suspect that we will have at least try to cause them some problems. That, I can very much live with.
