Going to be a real messy situation after the game on Wednesday presuming we fall to yet another away defeat. Hughes is out of ideas, desperate signings. Sunderland is always an unhappy hunting ground and they are on a high.....going to be a long evening. Can i have this weeks lottery numbers please? 12, 18, 33, 39, 43, 44

I fully expect us to lose at S'land, but to me it will have altered very little. We need another 18 points from 16 games and that is feasible even if we continue to play as poorly as we have at times this season.

Wednesday is a important game, but it won't send us down if we lose!

I guarantee we will lose..the away mentality from the past 3 seasons is hard to shift plus most of these Pulis players/wankers are born bottlers! I take it you have been drinking. One thing the teams Pulis put out were not is bottlers. Are you winding me up?? The surrenders away from home for 4 seasons was a team full of bottlers imo but you thought that was going for it???

...............Bego.................. Wilko...Shawx(anchor)....Wilson(pass to whelan).....Pieters .......Cameron(attacking role)...Whelan(Holding Mid)............ Arnie........Ireland.........Assaidi .............Guidetti.................
This is our fastest most creative team excluding Adam, who I'd bring on for Ireland circa 75'min as another option unless he's needed sooner. If Walter's is anywhere near the starting 11 after that display MH needs sorting out in all honesty.

Well he should try something different because we are 2nd bottom of the away form tables. Even Fulham are above us!

Never in a billion years will that happen for so many reasons, and i could actually argue for and against my random team choice but i'm just mixing things up a bit.
Begovic Cameron Shawcross Wilson Pieters Nzonzi Whelan Walters Adam Assaidi Crouch
Is probably what he'll start with, probably. Two probablies meaning a definitely maybe not for sure.

I'm ever the optimist.
"The darkest hour is before the dawn" and it was pretty black yesterday.
Sunderland are on a high after getting to Wembley and may have a "hangover".
Sunderland haven't beaten any bottom half teams at home and only appear to play well against good teams.
Cattermole will play like crazy to show what Stoke are missing, and will get sent off.
Sunderland will have their eyes on Saturday's match at Newcastle.
Stoke are due an away win at Sunderland - or anywhere come to that!

Bench: Sorensen, Shotton, Cameron, Adam, Etherington, Walters, Odemwingie.
I'd like to see Etherington start with Assaidi but I can't see any if them working on the right.

Premier League predictions: Lawro vs badminton star Gail Emms Stoke battled well against Chelsea in their FA Cup tie on Sunday but they never really looked like getting anything out of the match. Peter Odemwingie will be a good signing for the Potters because he adds something they have seriously been lacking this season, which is pace in their attack. They have not been able to stretch the game at all and it has been too easy for teams to play against them. Sunderland's problem continues to be scoring goals, and they badly need a home success in the league to go with their wins in the cups. I am not sure they will get it on Wednesday, though. Stoke would take a draw now but it is not really much good for Sunderland. Lawro's prediction: 1-1 Gail's prediction: I am not sure it will be a great game, especially if it is wet and windy in the north east. Sunderland will be up after their win at Old Trafford, and Stoke will be happy with an away point. 1-1

I would try and new formation with 3 at the back.
Bego
Cameron Shawcross Wilson
Nzonzi
Walters Adam Ireland Assaidi
Crouch Guidetti
Walters and Assaidi to track back covering wing back positions and Nzonzi helping sweep up.
leaving Adam and Ireland to be the creative midfield and 2 up front.

Guidetti, a grumpy frustrated ambitious young striker who can't wait to get on and take on the opposition? Will this remind Hughes of someone? I hope so.

If you analyse Sunderland's most recent Premier League games home and away, Fulham and Southampton had enough chances in the early stages to put the game out of reach. Fulham didn't take theirs and paid a heavy price. Southampton scored twice, should have scored more, and also paid the price. If you go back to the Villa game at the beginning of the year, they were happy to let Sunderland have most of the possession and play on the counter. They won 1-0 and according to reports looked like scoring more, restricting Sunderland to long range efforts. I'm not convinced that we have enough movement within our forward line to counter attack using the same players who started at Chelsea. Guidetti, Assaidi and Odemwingie might give us that option because the movement in front of N'Zonzi and Adam would be more direct. Given the lack of chances we are creating at the moment, I cannot see us winning the game using the Southampton or Fulham tactics. If the line up on Wednesday does not include some movement in attacking positions, we will not be able to play on the counter attack and get drawn into a game where chances taken will win the game. That will suit Sunderland at home so I can only pray that Hughes has something up his sleeve!

Sorry but our most creative team would not have Wilko anywhere near it and Whelan above N'Zonzi...please, N'Zonzi is limited but he can drive forward, Whelan can't run at any pace whatsoever and his passing at Crystal Palace was truly shocking I see where you're coming from. I do. But Whelan in our side more games than not has had a good season so far and has been a solid passer and tbh surprised me as well as Cameron going forward. We dont need pace from Whelans positon. We need accurate passing. He did have one bad game recently at CP but overall hes been one of our top passers statistically. Hes not as habitual as Walters in doing fuck all or losing possession, lets be honest. The second most pressing problem stoke has besides pace from RW or CF is the fact that when Nzonzi has possession infront of the midfield circle hes been turning backwards to Glenn or the back four killing our attacks instantly all season. To say steven nzonzi can drive forward hasnt been the case at all this season so I dont know where you're seeing nzonzi make dashing forwards runs next to our Cam or CF... Hes great on the ball himself, but our problems lie with getting the ball forward quickly and our midfield is unable to take on a man or pass into channels and get runs off of our CAM in Adam or Ireland. You cannot have a do nothing midfield and wingers who dont or cannot even cross or better yet even pass with Walters to get anys assists in this league. Wilko? Why wilko? Wilko at rb would shore up our defence and allow cameron to get it up to Ireland or Adam in the midfield so they can also dash forward in center or on the wing. Having two cms that do basically the same job isn't working. Eitherway you look at it. Hughes lack of seeing our defensive cm roles creating a massive gap near center field is worrying. Out of the two we have there now Whelan has been arsed most of this season and more consistent in his play and it is the truth. Tbh I didn't rate him a few seasons ago thought Nzonzi would take us forward in fact hes just bang average he has a 8.5 or 9 rating one week and a 6 the next as he sulks... story of our season.

Compelling viewing, like a horror film , you know it's going to be scary but you just have to watch.
Just hope it doesn't turn into a disaster movie.
