Our lack of quality up front is frightening. Jon Walters is not and has never been good enough to play at this level. I fear for the worst I really do, our crossing is pub league level. Pub League is way better and what's more you would see a competitive match with both sides FIGHTING TO WIN!!! How much do these filmstar prima donnas get paid?

This is actually an historic moment for me (i have been on this board previously in different guises) as it's the first time i have ever slagged off Walters on here. I guess i've avoided it in the past because why would i do summat everyone else was doing However, unfortunately it's now got to a point, and did a long long time ago for most where "you could'ner make it up" that both our ex-manager and now our new manager cannot see that he offers NOTHING to the side besides puffing and blowing. I have lost count of the times when he has been dreadful and yet was allowed to complete 90+ minutes of a match for us, that is not only ridiculous but the regularity of which it has happened is almost criminal. Yet he doesn't get rested nor does he get dropped, he still hardly ever gets subbed even though every single person can see that he's one of our weakest links. If not the weakest link. I will never doubt his commitment, his effort, attitude and desire however that has taken him so far and has taken us so far. Now we need to move on from him. We really do, he is just not good enough as a footballer at this level. I don't like saying that because if you look at some of the players who currently play at this level there are some bloody awful ones about but let's be selfish. If we want to progress as a club then Jon Walters can not be a part of that, it's getting desperate now and quite sad really.

Beyond dreadful today. If he starts on Wednesday, Hughes needs his head testing.

I agree the continual slagging off of Walters is both harsh and uncalled for but I have to admit that he was a complete and utter embarrassment today. It was like the worst of Cresswell and then some. He did have that one shot in the second half and that was about his only contribution to this contest. He was dispossessed so easily, it was cruel to leave him on the pitch. I also wonder if Guidetti is the next Michael Owen. No doubt Hughes has his reasons. He needs to explain them, especially to the Stoke fans who forked out good money to watch that capitulation.

I've always supported Walters in the past. Not the most technically gifted player but often very useful within our setup. However, that must be his worst performance ever in a Stoke shirt. Hopefully a one off.

Beyond dreadful today. If he starts on Wednesday, Hughes needs his head testing. He will you know he will which means playing with ten men and certain defeat because it's away.

I agree that was up there with his worst but it was hard to expect anything significantly better given his performances for the past few years.

The issue is Walters had performed consistently better than Arnie. Really we need someone else in leaving Walters as a utility squad player.

Someone had to replace Richard Cresswell !!! He gets worse with every game,if there's 2 players I'd like to never see in a Stoke shirt again it's Walters and Wilson....which is a shame when you consider how good Walters was in that period up to the cup final. For as good as 'that period' was, it was about 10 games and was a period where all of our players hit a purple patch. He's never once looked even close to emulating that kind of form

I agree, been saying it to my lad for two fucking seasons now, the other ten aren't good enough collectively to make up for his deficiencies, which are many. He looked, yet again, like a fan that's won a competition to play for his team.

Worst away record in the prem......i wonder why Mark....well because are still playing a player who quite clearly isn't good enough at this level..he is getting slower in every game, which i did not think possible..if he is picked to play Wednesday, then we will expect to lose and eventually go down under your management as we did under Pulis as he also chose to keep picking him....jesus wept

Beyond dreadful today. If he starts on Wednesday, Hughes needs his head testing. We both know he will start him bud. I blame sports science. They strap them bra things on them and it records everything from distance covered to heart rate to when they last had a crap. Then it's into the lap top and the performance analyst puts it to the manager. That's why SJW keeps playing because of his stats. The fact he can't pass, cross or score is irrelevant, it's the stats. Edit Worse still I just wasted my 1000th post on him.

Has anyone at the club thought about the fact that Walters is from Liverpool? I believe the residents have a talent for fiddling meters and such like...

That was bad, even for Jon.
He looked like a bloke who had won a raffle and got to play with his heroes.
It was pretty embarrassing really.
On Twitter, Angela Smith was (commendably) trying to stick up for him and said you'd want him stood next to you in a battle.
I pointed out that we aren't at war, we are playing professional football at the highest level and the time for limited grafters in attacking positions should have left us a few years ago.
