And he was basically free. And he seems to be being courted by a number of very decent European clubs. Who we could sell him to. For a profit.
Not going to lie. I've seen money spent worse. A lot worse.

they didn't fail to get him a WP though did they. Im not entirely what else they could have done. It seems to me the FA wanted to fuck us over off the back of that speech by whoever that clown was that was banging on about homegrown talent.

I'm happy to believe a lot of things Kevin. I'm happy to believe that we didn't really go for a player we clearly want (quite a fucking bit) earlier, for the sake of a relative small fee, when the work permit probably would have got through. I'm prepared to believe we waltzed into the hearing half arsed, thinking it was a formality when more work could have been done. I fully believe that Cartwright and Scholes are wank........ but committing to buy someone irrespective of the outcome of a work permit application just doesn't happen, however half arsed your back office is. It just doesn't.

I'll bet you my absolute last penny that any pre contract will have contained a clause stating 'subject to work permit'. There is no way on Gods green earth we would have entered into it so blindly, regardless of how wank you might think those involved are.

Though Agudelo included a hash tag reading "#SignedToday" in Tuesday’s revelatory tweet, sources on both sides of the Atlantic have confirmed that his original contract has tied him to Stoke since August and no second attempt at a deal was ever necessary www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2014/01/15/american-exports-juan-agudelo-set-move-stoke-will-go-loan-elsewhere-first

So there's a FIFA 'law' that says a contract of EMPLOYMENT is enforceable even if that person has no legal right to WORK in the country where the contract exists? Really?

If the daily star is questioning the validity of the deal, I fear the worst.
It is universally understood that they are the Davesviews of the tabloid press

Someone needs to have a word with Sir Trev...
Seriously though, it seems someone took a punt and in the short-term (at least) hasn't worked out.
I'd guess once he's playing in Europe and delivers you'll walk it through the next application.

A contract has to be agreed by both parties and signed,so surly if it stated that it was subject to a work permit then this must be enforceable?
So if FIFA can over rule the immigration and right to work rules of the United Kingdom why don't we apply to them for the work permits?

I don't fully understand this can someone explain simply? Is it that because we offered him a contract we have to pay his wages despite him not gaining a work permit
