When I was at school (a long time ago ), we had a black kid in the class, and he was called "Blackie". He took no offence, as I wouldn't to b e called "Whitey" It was never meant to be offensive. I suppose that is the difference - how the use of the word is intended.

Yes he was on the field today and scored. Not exactly banging em in though Doesn't today make him joint top scorer? I'm quite happy he scored, obviously it seems some arent I'm more than happy he scored. But banging them him he ain't. In fact has he scored against anyone in our league this season

Wondered how long it would take for Stafford to come on and defend racism.

If that was the chant, then one doubts it was sung in a positive light, so it can obviously be construed as racist, whether you wouldn't be bothered if you were called "Whitey" in Africa has nothing to do with it.

Well I sit in block 21 (middle of the boothen) and didn't hear any racist chanting or any other chanting today. Apart from the one person who started this thread did anyone else hear anything? Whats "real racism"? Racism is racism is it not? “It’s not about intent. It’s about impact.” Racism hurts, whether someone means it or not.

I have the same opinion mate but you get called a racist on here for having such thoughts. I am guessing that the chant could have been "your just a town full of p####" If this was the chant is it really that bad? Not saying it's right by the way before someone jumps down my throat. Yes it is that bad you moron. It is meant as an insult, so how do you think the Asian community in Leicester would react to it? Wow.

Did you report it or just ignore it? I don't understand why this is the barometer of whether something is offensive or worth mentioning or not. It was the 'town full of..." song. Depressing. If he didn't report it does that make it ok?

'block 19 scum' oh dear is that any better than being racist? One is illegal the other isn't. I'm sure I don't need to explain which is which. H I think you will find that it's not illegal to be a racist if you keep your opinions to yourself there is no law against racial hatred, just discrimination. apparently. However that doesn't make it right, same as grouping people as 'scum' because of where they sit or how they look. ;)

Wondered how long it would take for Stafford to come on and defend racism. Not getting involved in all this bollox again. I really don't care a fuck. Most of the time it is just a bunch of do gooding white fuckers poking their noses where the supposed victims don't want it. Crack on.

Thats not what I'm getting at mate, I'm asking did he report it or just jump on here to have a moan and not do anything about it, if he was unhappy about it he should be reporting it, its the only way it can be stopped.

The difference being, black people were persecuted for hundreds of years, white people were not. Bollocks. Many White people have been persecuted and kept as slaves etc it's just not as recent in history... White Europeans where at the whip hand of the arabs during the 8th and 9th century. The fact is regardless of race, all peoples tend to have persecution and such in there history at some point. This is another reason why racism is so small minded.

Rompindonkey. I agree. I know nothing like that should be said and id never say anything myself. It's totally wrong. But I agree if I went to play in Africa say, and I got booed, called whitey, chalky and had pieces of chalk chucked on the pitch id say 'yeh I'm bad' laugh, feel proud of who I am and carry on. Don't get me wrong im not trying to justify it and it should be stamped out, im just trying to think how id feel. If that were the situation, I doubt the abuse would stop there. And that's the problem, it's not just on the football pitch. You would also see your perceived inferiority present in societal structure and daily interactions.

The guy in the class from Liverpool nicknamed "Scouse" The guy with red hair, nicknamed "Red" The guy from Wales is called "Taff" A person from Britain is a "Brit" From Pakistan is "Packie" From the States - Yank In Australia - the guy from UK is a Pomme In the States - we are Limeys
So a black guy from Africa being called "Blackie" is wrong?

We are talking about racist chanting at a football match which is most definitely illegal. I would say grouping a bunch of racists as scum fair enough. If of course there is any substance to this in the first place as it seems only one person heard it. H
