I'm quite convinced we're not gonna get him. Would be surprised if we get anyone in fact. I still beleive that if we keep all our top players we may still scrape through. But next summer will then be the real big test for the owners' ambitions for this club. They have to provide Hughes with sufficient money to assemble a competitive side which can have a good run in the cups and a comfortable mid- table position

As I have previously stated , we are very much front runners on this one. Ok so stick your perm on the line and say yes or no to signing Diouf this window. That's impossible to say any person with football knowledge knows that transfers take many twists.

Im not saying just our club in particular, but all clubs including united etc, that all chairman must have been jumping through hoops when this FFP came in.
Before you'd have fans demanding their club spent big. Now even some of the top clubs have to be careful how much. Chairman can now just come out with the 'we're up to our allowed limit' line. The pressure is now off them even more. They can just rake it in without the pressure of spending more than they want.
The chief exec and technical director role has largely helped chairmen and owners. You used to get sack the board chanted. Now you have the manager, technical director, chief executive, to blame and get at in the queue before you get to them.
This is not a criticism of our wonderful owners for all they've done but I bet all owners had a big group hug when this FFP was passed.

Quite a lot of rumours on twitter saying he's on the verge of joining Cardiff City If that happened and the only striker we got was Guiddieti or however You spell it, I'd go a little bit mad. I have no problems with the Swedish lad but relying on a bloke who has been playing reserve football after 18 months out isn't my cup of tea. He's clearly an excellent talent or was an excellent talent, that's the problem, we don't know. If we did, he wouldn't be potentially coming to Stoke I guess.

Think we all knew this wouldn't happen anyway, if it was going too it would of been back in the summer, they persist and unrealistic targets, who are all about money that we cant offer, very disappointing, but we need too move on.

The summer fiasco set the trend relating to future incoming transfers, no money and Uncle Peter no longer has the clout he was accustomed to.

While Rome burns, Bet365 fiddle. Couldn't of put it better myself www.tsmplug.com/football/teams/stoke-city-squad/Stoke City has the average salary to the players around £22,739-a-week which puts them 10th in league in terms of highest salaries by club in english top flight. While if we look at yearly salary on average its accounts to £1,182,425 a year and that puts them 30th in terms of world football and 155 overall if we take all the professional clubs in different sports. Perhaps we are not as "mean" as reported.

Uncle Peter is the father of the main shareholder, her brother and husband. All of them are keen Stoke supporters. If they want to spend money on their hobby then it will be made available to them. This they have made clear on several occasions, they have said that the biggest restriction is that it must represent value for money, and who doesn't. The biggest restriction is the fair play rules.

We're looking to get someone on the cheap. Perhaps if we can free up some e pensive wages eg ethers and jones then maybe the owners might become a bit more inclined to open their hands. Ness, Shea and edu to be sent on loan too so more cash will be available

Interesting when I see the need for a 15 goal a season striker and remember John Ritchie, best season 30, 176 from 347 games in total. 15 would have been a poor season. John Ritchie played for Stoke in 11 league campains, he scored more than 15 goals in 2 of them!
