Solskjær was Diouf's manager at Molde where Diouf was a hit and was discovered by Manchester United. If OGS wants him this could be a tricky one for us, so don't wait, but act now! According to Wiki, Diouf was at Molde between 07 and 09 and Solskjaer was the boss from 11 onwards. Their paths didnt cross at United either. I think you're getting mixed up with Pape Pate Diouf, who Solskjær managed twice at Molde. I might have mixed those two up I Guess?!

I was hoping that Mark Hughes contacts would help out in many possible transfers, making the club a more attractive proposition for any potential players.
I agree we need to act quickly when such players become available.
Most / all of the clubs around us are looking to strengthen their striking options.
Yes this will be an expensive exercise but the reward is a Premiership place for next season.

I don't understand why the shock that we've lost out on him and lost out on yet another target. Joke of a club when it comes to paying the going rate for a player and things will get a he'll of alot worse now PC allegedly has no say in transfers. Not impressed yet again. We're doomed, doomed I tell yer Captain Mainwaring.

I get it now. We were haggling last time around the 6m mark. Now he's available for about 2m and were still dithering. If we want him just get it done. Just do it the stoke way. 2m spread over 5 years.

What if the going rate is over priced, like it was for Diouf in the summer? Yes - and anyone who wants a reminder about how poor financial management (ie overpaying players wages and transfer fees) can fuck up a club, take a look at Bolton.

Diouf did play for Solskjær's former club Molde FK before he signed for Manchester United. Solskjær was not managing Molde FK during Diouf's time at the club though.

Wasn't he Man Utd reserve manager when Diouf was there as well though? That'd be a pull if he'd worked with him before for a couple of years - as would that nutter Tan chucking a massive salary at him

Wasn't he Man Utd reserve manager when Diouf was there as well though? That'd be a pull if he'd worked with him before for a couple of years - as would that nutter Tan chucking a massive salary at him Yeah, but I don't think he really rated Diouf. Manchester United reserve team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed striker Mame Biram Diouf as "one for the future" after he marked his second-string debut with a hat-trick.
"Diouf is a young lad and he will get his chances but he is one that we have brought in for the future," Solskjaer told Telegraph Sport.
"He is a different kind of player to what we have up front. Of course, when you sign players you hope that they are going to establish themselves as first team players. "He has fantastic potential. He is a fantastic athlete and he has a fantastic attitude plus he is a good finisher as you saw here tonight so we are very pleased for far with the start that he has made. "I don't think I need to give him any advice because I have already got to know him a bit. I have seen him in Norway and I have spoken to him a bit and he is very down to earth and he knows what he wants."

I still think were a better option established with a solid board. Greed can be a pull though. FFP not an issue for a promoted club though

My money is on Cardiff or a Middle East club.

I don't want us to become the next Blackburn or Leeds for sure. But if we offload a couple of players and free up their wages (ethers, edu, ness, Shea, possibly pennant) and spend up to 10 million I think it's a sum we can easily afford without risking financial ruin. Thoughts about this ?
