As mentioned above what is so staggering is that he had a rush of blood and got away with a shit tackle seconds beforehand!!!!! Then to do it again, well again as mentioned above did he do it in purpose ?

I think it was the fact he came on and lost his head by giving away 3 free kicks on Baines in the same dangerous position, before gifting them the peno. And sandwiched in between all that he did fuck all. His dodgy temper got the better of him and cost us 2 points.

The bloke had a nightmare but the abuse he's getting is ridiculous. He clearly got very frustrated and tried to make up for it and failed miserably. In the end he whipped in a fantastic corner to try and make amends.
He made a terrible mistake, but that's all it was. He did fairly well against Spurs and is much better than Walters on the ball. It's scary to see that Walters, in this thread at least, is suddenly considered a good defensive player. He's a defensive player but he costs us defensively all the time!
For the record I would've brought Arnie on as he looks very good defensively compared to our other options.

Theres one thing thats united pretty much everyone on this forum tonight and that is the undeniable point that Pennant cost us 2 points today. If he wasnt on and we had 10 men for the last 10 mins we wouldve won. Of that ai have no doubt.

It was shit by Pennant but talk of it being deliberate are stupid really in my opinion. For me, it was a player who had barely played any football for 2 years trying to do something positive and play himself into the game. He didn't do it very well at all and his performance was a shocker but i'm sure he will be gutted about it. Not quite as gutted as us but gutted all the same. As I posted after the Spurs game, it is harsh to expect Pennant to come in and do brilliantly from the start. If he's an option for us, he needs 6-10 games to find his legs. Look at Assaidi as a prime example of that. He was garbage when he first played, fucked after 10 minutes...today he was up and down that line like a man possessed and he turned in a cracking performance.

I thought we sat back far too defensively for my liking and invited pressure when Pennant came on. If we'd have ended that game victorious there would be nobody more relieved than me, I was clock watching for the last 15 minutes. 10 men wouldn't have made any difference to the result, in my opinion, other than we'd have been fucked for selection even further for the next game.

I remember Adam having similar sub appearances especially his sub on and red card off fiasco. Nothing new, I don't think it is a chronic problem with him. He's a great cover winger until we get more signings.

Baines has history of going to ground easy and I would of hoped that the management team would of gone through their team and told our lads what to expect in those situations. I think Baines is very clever, he turns his back at the last minute so a shoulder charge turns in to a shove in the back, and down he goes and refs fall for it to easily. He did it twice which is what I'm guessing you are referring to? Add to that pennant hacking him down and it was clear his head had gone and Baines had got to him after pennant didn't get that early free kick. I don't think for one minute he deliberately meant to give away a peno though as others have suggested.

I reckon he was too eager to impress. Wants get in the side and what better by putting in a crunching tackle in the box, winning the ball cleanly, and getting the fans singing his name.
Oh how he failed that...

This is where for me Marriner was a total prick he failed to give two free kicks against Everton for fouls on Pennant but then proceeds to award Baines 3 free kicks for pretty much carbon copy challenges the only difference was Baines exaggerated it.

The bloke gets payed 15-20 grand a week to do basically fuck all, he gets asked to give a 15 minute cameo and decides to throw all MH + his team-mates hard work and commitment in the dirt because he cant handle his temper, and people on here are defending him? I find it ludicrous that anyone can do that every point is absolutely vital to keep the club we love competitive. Pennant has responded to all our backing of him through tough times with a massive middle finger.

You'd imagine he is top of the on-the-way-out list currently. Completely indefensible display today, not sure I remember such a worse substitute performance if I cast my mind back about 20 years. Cheerio Jermaine, you can keep your curly hair.

he looked like a man who stood to win a lot of money if everton could get an equaliser astonishing I've not seen that sort of recklessness in our own penalty box for a long long time I think Jp as a person not as a footballer is a piece of shit so wouldn't put any motive past him. He's rubbish and should be sent off immediately and never allowed to have any further connection with our great club

I just (and neither can anyone else it seems) cant imagine another player from our bench being that fucking stupid. That leads me to think that given any other player with 10 mins on the pitch then we would have had 3 bloody hard earned points. Does anybody else agree/disagree??!

He needs to go. His time is up, like a few of Tone's old guard. Time to move on from Pennant, Ethers, Crouch, Whelan and Walters methinks. I have a horrible feeling we'll go bargain basement again this window. I am usually optimistic and thought we were manful today, but this window is pivotal.

It's not the fact that he made a mistake with the tackle, it happens in football, players make errors. It's the fact that when the full-time whistle went rather than acknowledging the fans and putting his hands up, he walked straight off down the tunnel.

Having seen it again it's worse than I remembered, I thought Osman was in on goal but he wasn't. Sheer stupidity. There was three penos in that sequence though, Pennant, Cameron then Pennant.
