I love F&C but, admittedly, I don't have them very often (due to the Mrs not liking them, and she insisting they're not too good for me).
Anyway, we got a flyer through the door this week. The local chippy has been taken over by new management.
Small cod and small chips....£6.90! Large F&C ~ £9.50. Pie and chips ~£6 Large chips - £4.50 (they were pretty big if the previous owners portions were to go by) We live in a wealthy area, but FFS, they are expensive.

It's the same where I live mate , its expensive , made my own last night for the whole family paid £12 for 5 portions of haddock . . Fish and chips have become expensive because of the costs involved i think . But compared to the cost of a takeaway , Chinese or Indian its not bad as they use very cheap components compared to fresh fish . Early this year wholesale price of potatoes tripled

Our chippy in Brixton is reknowned throughout the South Hams. Cod and chips are £5.20 and large cod and chips £7.25. But then the owner gets his fish directly from Barbican Fish Market in Plymouth straight off the trawlers which keeps cost down. They fry to order so On Friday evenings pop in to place my order then nip next door for a pint at The Foxhounds. Bliss.

Seabridge Fish bar in Clayton is a good un. Owned by the family that own Chris Fish bar in Rising Brook, Stafford. The younger brother runs the new one in Clayton.
Just a couple of doors down from the Co Op in Windermere Road.

Nothing beats a chippy tea, with loads of bread and butter and washed down with a cup of tea. Heaven. And why does tea taste so much better with fish and chips and/or a full english??
