Meltdown imminent. This is hilarious reading. All of those years of sticking the boot into Pulis and Stoke football under him. I'd pay serious, serious money out to see this happen.
Karma, what a bitch.

Bet Victor even have Mark Hughes in at 66/1!!!!!! I noticed on oddschecker earlier that Harry Redknapp is the current 10/1 fav to be our next manager!

Well i put this in another thread and i thought i'd stick it in here as well.
I struggle to see why Sunderland would want to employ Tony Pulis right now.
The way i see Sunderland is as them being very similar to us, they want improvement in performances, results and are aiming for the top 10 in the Premier League.
Regardless of what a poor start to their season they've had and a poor season last time out, this situation is very salvagable and they want to push on. Whether this is seen as too fanciful an idea is open to debate.
However that can't be done by hiring a manager who has just been removed from a club with similar if not identical ambitions for the reason that he personally couldn't improve us both in performances and league position.
If we were in March say, and Sunderland were in the mire then i'd understand it but there's the best part of a whole season to come and so surely they'd be after someone who can do more than just keep them out of the bottom 3?
Hypothetically if a club like say Palace or Hull were faced with a tricky situation at say Christmas time and decided that they needed a new man then TP would suit them a hell of a lot more than Sunderland because of those clubs individual ambition levels.
I think for TP a Championship club is the way to go for him, pretty much any club at that level would be ideal for what he can get out of players and achieve.
Add to that the fact that in the top flight for a team like us now, and arguably Sunderland, we want the means to be enjoyable in reaching the end. As opposed to one dimensional functional, attritional and many would say dull, predictable means reaching an end target.
If that makes sense at all?
To keep a team up and/or to get a team promoted, well if you achieve that in the end, then how you did it doesn't really matter but when a club strives for more than that, as we do and i believe Sunderland do, then you need someone who can adapt and improve more than TP can do.
Sounds harsh on TP does that but hopefully it's a decent summary.
Also, how will TP deal with all these new signings they've got over there. Maybe none of 'em work 'aaard enough.

Sunderland could do much worse than hiring TP. I was not TP's biggest fan at all, but the S'land supporers must see that he ticks a lot of boxes: - Fresh experience from Premier League - Never relegated - A fighter - Getting the maximum out of the squad
TP is made for situations like the one in S'land. The entertainment value is close to zero with him at the helm, but as S'land now have seen PDC in action for a few months I wouldn't be surprised that they will consider a more convetional and safe approach. The board must be pretty stupid if they don't give him a serious consideration.

TP would be great for the IF they players would buy into his methods. Not sure if they would though. Not a good fit for him, so I would be surprised if he went there (if offered). Not a good fit? A chance to manage one of the biggest clubs in England and in front of 50K fans if he gets it right? Surely he wouldn't bottle that chance? Very true, but I was thinking of the squad he would have at his disposal. Certainly have some players there, but I'm not sure they fit the way he has done things. However if he thinks he can make it work, agreed he would jump at it.

TP is easily the best manager available to them, so hopefully they'll get di Matteo to take them down.
I still can't see why he'd want the job anyway. Even if he turned around the present disaster, their next manager won't last for much more than 18 months.

If they dismiss Pulis as somehow beneath them, it could be a costly mistake.

At least we'll be able to palm off some of our cast-offs if he does. Walters Oh don't play with my emotions, it would be too good to be true. Also, I like how they think having Pulis would mean they'd buy Jones. Do they know nothing?

How so Mick? He didn't say he'd wish them better than Stoke. Unless I've missed something. Sunderland are and always will be one of our main rivals in this league and a team we need to finish above if we are to increase our chances of staying in the division. BM And I guess this goes for ex players too. But only if they go to rivals?

on a different note, has anybody else noticed how horrendously underrated N'zonzi is? even on there he is described as a player who just plays hoofball. my mate highlighted him as one of the players who we should replace because 'he isn't good enough' and pretty much every opposition team label him as a donkey.
sorry it's a bit off topic but i find it quite bizarre. It's like we live in a different world!
anyway, i can't see what blunderland are moaning at. put him on a contract until the end of the season to keep them up, if the football isn't too bad and he does well, offer him a permanent position! at least he offers solidarity, something they haven't had for quite a long time now.

I genuinely think it'd be perfect for them! any relegation threatened teams would be lucky to get him, he's good at what he does. What he does isn't get teams into the top 10 it's get teams to play solid safe performances, which is what blunderland need

Anyone else noticed the thread on RTG has gone. Their version of shit binned? As with most things up north the Mackems have their own slang. They have a few names for shitbinning. I think they call it Di Cannioed. Or O'Neilled. Or Keaned. Or even Cotterilled if you love a bit of retro.

Was? Are you Gypsy Rose Lee? He didn't take us down and he was with us ten years. It must fucking kill the likes of you that he made you look complete tools. well said sir some of the ungrateful wankers on here dont deserve a prem football team and its my bet that the majority of the phw would dissapear if the unthinkable happened and we went down! like any true football fan i am backing our manager [mh] 100% but i will allways be grateful for the job tony pulis did at stoke

That Pulis mega-thread on RTG is hilarious. You can smell the panic.
The really funny thing is they think it would be a backward step. God bless Sunderlona.

Some of the little cunts on there... they don't even deserve to have TP manage them, because all of us know he would keep them up no matter what. He was taking us down I do love eeeeeeeet when folk make up a load of fcuking shite.

Pulis would probably keep them up but then do exactly what he'd done here- spend a lot of money on old players and workhorses, and they'd get fed up of being bored to death, same as we did.

Hopefully wont happen. Don't particularly want the worry of possibly losing Shawcross, Huth, Bego or others to Blunderland, who could no doubt pay more than us (remember Pulis likely knows what they all earn).
That, and I want a relegation spot taken asap. Mad, airy football 'sexy' managers seem to be the order of the day, why stop now?
Could be down by Christmas
