I'm far from the biggest yankophile on this board, but fair play to our US counterparts for bringing this shower to justice. Listening to the statement on Sky just now it really does seem that the US finally "get" the beautiful game and are more than happy to treat those who threaten it to a swift dose of US Justice. Unlikely heroes, but well played you Yanks, you may just have saved the game as we know it. Take a bow. Yep, I agree. I'm sure there is some motive in it for them as well (I am naturally cynical) but I doubt any other nation in the world would have the guts, resource and desire to take on what must be one of the most corrupt, dishonest and rotten organisations this side of the Noth Korean presidency. Now, what relationship do we have with the North American FIFA representative.......good enough to support a future World Cup bid????? I think pretty much every football fan in the world (with the possible exception of those in Russia and Qatar, assuming there are actually some in Qatar) will be feeling extremely grateful to the Yank authorities tonight. We've waited a long, long time for this.

Of course you may know something that the rest of us don't yet, apologies if this is the case mate.

Not so according to the press conference by FIFA this morning, they were invited on 18th November 2014 by FIFA. The Swiss have taken it upon yhemselves to conduct a seperate investigation not controlled by FIFA ( who supplied documents to US. The Swiss raided the offices and took what they wanted not what was supplied. The accused are already resisting extradition, but of course they are already in Switzerland. Have a good read of what has been happening and you will see that FIFA were spoon feeding the information that they wanted to (as always) but the Swiss have blown it wide open. US have had twenty years to do something but only acted when invited to. Only giving praise where it is due, hope both get on with it but have more faith in the Swiss despite their previous record with their own banking arrangements. Like you just desperately hoping something gets done at long last.

Fair enough, i'm clearly reading it in a slightly differently way from you. Either way it's a very good development for football.
Heres to successful convictions for both the US and the Swiss.
It's all over for Blatter.

It's all over for Blatter. Press officer was asked this morning whether Blatter would resign. Answer nothing to do with him. When pressed that he was in charge whilst all this was going on repeated the response and said Blatter was quite relaxed about it. Mr bloody Teflon that bloke. We can but hope.

Oh yes, the Swiss. I forgot about their nobility when it comes to banking matters and their past Nazi customers. Lord knows what sort of money is laundered through their banks under the guarantee of anonymity. Again I will say I'm cynical but I wonder if their apparent show of an investigation is because they are involved in some way and are trying to distance themselves from a rotten apple in their country, on their watch now it is starting to come on top.

You may well be right about their motives but at least it was instigated of their own volition and not because they were invited to. The money fiddling has been taking place in the US for the twenty years and only investigated because they were asked. No axe to grind on my part just hope either lot nail him but it wilk be interesting to see how long resisted extradition takes; on the other hand possession is nine tenths and the Swiss already have them. Not going to he over until that fat bastard Blatter sings!

We need a coordinated protest by football supporters to try and persuade our FA to take a stand and withdraw from the next two world cups, why hasn't the FSF taken a lead on this?

Former UEFA president Lennart Johansson believes England should be given the 2018 World Cup ahead of Russia.
"I expect they will reconsider the (World Cup) decisions. Blatter himself has said that the decision to go east wasn't proper. I am sure the initiative will now be taken to make a new decision. "England haven't had it since 1966 and it's considered 'the motherland of football', whatever we might think. They are worthy of the attention.
Simon Johnson from England's 2018 bid has told Sky Sports News HQ he doesn't think England would be asked to host the World Cup even if the 2018 and 2022 bids were sent to a re-vote.
"It's slightly more likely that the 2022 will, but I don't think there's a high chance of that, and if it were to be re-opened for 2018 I think it's very unlikely it would be awarded to England because however much you or I think England have the best facilities and could stage a wonderful World Cup, the fact is that FIFA blames England and the English media for the predicament it finds itself in now.
Does it?

I'm sure I read that Blatter and co blamed our media yes, but obviously should the legal findings be that FIFA or at least parts of it is corrupt then that blame becomes pointless. I've always had the impression that FIFA and UEFA have never looked fondly upon our country for some reason, so I'm quite fascinated by how all this could pan out.

Can we have our game back NOW.......
I have written the English FA and have written to the German FA last year to boycott the games in Qatar since the first construction site fatalities came to light. How can we support anything that has cost so many lives on a daily basis in order to make a few quid and for people to have a kick about.
Some mutterings have been that we should play, for the legacy of all those that have given their lives is not forgotton. They are very, very wrong. Why? No matter what efforts have been made, people continue to die in order to make a a few quid, for criminals, and for people to have a kick about.
62 deaths per match. Nepalese workers refused permission to return to Nepal for funerals after the earthquakes and to help with reconstruction of their own land. In order to make a few quid, for corruption at the highest level, and for people to have a kick about.
The Qataris illegally purchased the right to hold the world cup; was it:
A to show the world how the beautiful game brings people of all walks of life together in the spirit of cheer and and playfulness? B a fucking PR exercise to show how advanced they have become since moving out of tents, post oil discovery, into their castles built on sand? C to make a few quid, ultimately at the expense of 1000's of lives bringing misery to countless more thousands?
NOT IN THE GAME'S NAME. NOT IN OUR NAME. ENGLAND SHOULD WITHDRAW IMMEDIATELY. That they haven't already is a stain on our integrity.
God rest souls of all those who have met horrific ends on construction sites, and bless their families, who often don't find out for weeks that their breadwinners are dead at the hand of corruption, at the hand of greed.
It makes me seek and it is not defendable.
Peace, love and we'll be with you.
FYI - Here in London, the Qataris are about to take over public realm and lose Central London it's World Heritage Status, by building a monstrosity together with an oil company of £2-£20 Million flats, wrecking the Southbank, in order to house criminals art collections, and to make a few quid. These camel fuckers had nothing, they lived in tents until not so long ago, until they found oil. How much happiness they have delivered to the Citizens of the World with their untold wealth since then?

Platini endorses prince Ali Does that mean herr sepp has no dirt on him What am I missing here - both Dyke and Platini have said they think that Prince Ali can win but how? I don't get it. Platini has just said that he HOPES Ali will get 53/54 votes but he expects him to get a minimum of 40. But surely if Asia, Africa, Concaf and Oceania are all behind Blatter then that will be nowhere near enough support for Ali?

Platini is reported to have told Blatter quite bluntly that he, Blatter, should resign. Blatter doesn't see why. Platini is also reporting that if Blatter is re-elected then UEFA will meet to consider their relationship with FIFA.
Hopefully that may mean creating an alternative. Not sure FIFA can survive or should survive in any event, better to start again.
I think the attitude of the sponsors will resolve the situation, providing they in turn listen to their customers
