Wouldn't ordinarily post a new thread but seems like we could have some big news coming tomorrow:
I asked Alan Nixon
James Bickerton ?@ Bickstoke 10m @reluctantnicko A lot of noise out of Stoke regarding a striker search. Heard anything at all?...
His Reply:

Don't like the use of the phrase "have the tale" - sounds like something went wrong?

To be fair, Nixon is usually a very good source & doesn't usually refuse info if he has it.
If there's a story big enough for him to keep schtum, it can't be half bad.

He mentions having mixed opinions on the player when he was younger, but has matured and hefty price. Got to be Diouf hasn't it

Almost certainly Diouf based on Nixon's tweets.

With only a year left, I hope the fee isn't too hefty!
Surely no more than £7m?

Knowing our luck, this injury today will scupper it! Described as going off as a "precuation" after a "blow to the calf" from Ben Foster?

The few wont be too big with only a year left, maybe in the 5-6million range I would have thought.
As for the kitty at a guess around 20million as that is what pulis had every year.
I would be happy with diouf.

IT can't be too hefty a price surely? 1 year left on his contract and a pretty average/poor scoring record.

There does seem to have been some movement there today though, although hard to find out just what has been said Hannover local paperDiouf possible sale remains hot topic For a brief moment Dirk Dufner paused. One had the impression that the 96 sports director himself was a bit surprised about what he had just said about the future of Mame Diouf at the Bundesliga club. Hannover local paper twitterNow? Dirk Dufner surprises with new statements on the subject of Diouf and a transfer

I've got a feeling it's De Jong.
He was punted around at Newcastle a season or so ago, wasn't he?

If it is Mame Diouf, I think that is a great signing, another one under the radar and one of the growing number at Stoke with something to prove. The only slight concern is all the shennanigans you get with the African Cup Of Nations

I've got a feeling it's De Jong. He was punted around at Newcastle a season or so ago, wasn't he? He's got 4 years left on his contract so it would have to be hefty, but Nixon mentioned his opinion being mixed when he was younger, but Luuk de jong is only 22, Hope it is Luuk but it seems inevitable its Mame Diouf

But de Jong has always been decent, doesn't go with "mixed when he was younger"

I wouldn't be too disappointed, as he seems to have recovered from his early blip at Utd/Blackburn with a good season and a half in a league that I perceive to be technically stronger than the Premiership. Edit: However, if anything was imminent, why would Hannover play him tonight? I dare say any interest has either faded or we've hit a brick wall.
