League One player at best. Agree bayern, terrible buy by Liverpool He's the luckiest man alive and fair play to him for it. How he's conned them that he can play as regular as he has done I do not know but good luck to him for it. I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole and I was only discussing tonight how shite he was.

If Nzonzi and Adams are off this sense...A typical Coates buy, young, english and works hard...

How him and Jay Spearing are Premier League footballers is beyond me, they should have kept to their original past-time of Motor Racing the pair of caveman looking little scrotes.

The lad is a twenty one year old who is one of the better players in the country at that age who has bags of improvement potential in a position where some are saying they would prefer a run-a-round like Whitehead. Breath taking! In this camp. The price is a bit of a face scruncher but would love to see him here.

6.5 million is small fry... We paid 6-8m for palacios...5 million for Adam... Jonjo is better than both of them.

The link is a duffer but I reckon Hughes could do with Shelvey what he did with Ireland at Citeh.

Very harsh to say Nzonzi only one good enough. Charlie Adam when played in right position is class and has proven that at times when playing in his natural position. I think we should go for Bentley as a freebie as back-up and get Palacios fit and we will be fine. We have marc wilson and cameron who can play there too so plenty of cover. All Adam did was prove to me he wasn't good enough, when played in his natural position, always forget WP, can't see him sorting himself out, hes had enough time already, but if he could, he would be great in our CM.

From that tweet it is based on Gundogan leaving Dortmund for Liverpool which is brilliantly laughable in it's own right.
Don't think he's that bad tbh, improvement on our midfield at the moment

I like him, big, strong, comfortable on the ball and can pick out a pass/goal, could do a good job at Stoke.

Think we'd be paying over the odds there myself. Yes he may be an improvement on our midfielders (who wouldn't!)! but that amount would be a huge chunk of our transfer kitty on a player who's yet to really look the part. I'd say £3.5 to £4 mill max and he'd be worth a punt but not £6.5 mill.

I said last week we should sign him, got loads of abuse for it. Now everyone will probably start bigging him up after we sign him though.

Desperately hope we don't sign Shelvey.

Looks like most of you haven't seen him play much at all and are basing your opinion on the U 21 games.
If he joins you, he would comfortably the best passing midfielder in your side. He plays the Hollywood ball as well as Adam but is much better at playing the simple pass and retaining the ball. His movement is very good for a young fella and he knows how to time his runs. His finishing is usually poor but if he keeps getting into good positions, he will get a few eventually.
Did very well in teh Europa league for us against some decent sides. He is a talent no doubt and I am certain he will be playing at a very decent level in the next few years. His temperament is suspect but then again, so was Gerrard's when he was Shelvey's age.
His best position is playing as an attack minded CM(not as an AM as many believe)in a 3 man Central midfield, given the freedom to look for the ball and link play all over the pitch.
His tackling is nowhere near as bad as Adam, its just that he has earned a reputation which is hard to shake off. His long passing ability is very good and he has the vision to make use of it. His touch is a bit erratic at times but its not so much of a hindrance.
I'd rather he went out somewhere on loan rather than being sold outright. Better than Henderson in terms of raw ability, just not as good an athlete.
