"We've just created another little bit of history," Pulis proudly declared afterwards.
"I've just been told that's the first time we've finished outside the bottom six in the top flight for five seasons on the bounce. It's a new achievement for us as a football club and a fantastic record."
For hand it to him, he knows how to spin a purse out of a sow's ear

I can't wait for that to be added to the clubs 'honours list'.

The sound of a man clutching at straws to keep his cushy job.
He really is turning into a parody of himself.

But still a fact. More than can be said for the likes of Tony Waddington and Martinez.

Of course it's a fantastic achievement, something not equalled by any other Stoke side in the club's long history.
Further significant evidence of the consistency of the Pulis era.

Sad, predictable and boring. And no I didn't mean Pulis.

Symptomatic of the desperation people have to denigrate TP. Turn an achievement into a negative. Everything he said was true.

This season doesn't represent an achievement in any way, shape or form.

Maybe if he's given another £100 million we can make it seven years on the bounce of not getting relegated by playing the most arse clenching football ever seen in the top flight.

This season doesn't represent an achievement in any way, shape or form. In your opinion. Wasn't great but unlike three other clubs we are still there. And yes people are getting above themselves, we finished more or less where we should have done. Thirteenth highest wages.

I like that he then went on to say that it was more of a level playing field in the past too, and the club were able to sign players like Alan Hudson.
Alan Hudson would have been great playing off Peter Crouch...

Can't see your problem, everyone has a right to an opinion. It's just that it's not the same as yours.

I don't see how anyone who's followed us and has any degree of ambition can consider it one. We've finished 13th but with our lowest points total since promotion, after another dishwater dull, goal-free campaign and in a season that featured a terrible run that lasted almost half the season. We went into this season with hopes of pushing on. We had thafWe'd lost no significant first teamers, signed loads more of them, and with no Europe to tire us it was expected we could get back to how we were playing at the end of 10/11 and have a crack at the top 10. Improving on last season should have been the bare minimum expectation but we've finished with less points.

It is an achievement, of sorts - if you have limited ambition, no stomach for expectation and general contempt for your support.
Let's hope 'the family' are slightly more aspirational for next season...

Can this stat really be true?
If it is, while I am not sure it's one Tone should be proudly chucking around, it's an interesting one none the less.
Serves as a salutary reminder if nothing else that some of our (relative) 'glory' years were not quite as long lasting or glorious as it sometimes feels like they were.

Off the top of my head, I know we finished 5th twice under Waddo and 4th under McGrory. Pretty sure there were a few other top tens an all

Whilst TP's latest entry on to his CV speech is probably true, I find his regular claim of 28,000 fans at home games reason enough to disregard any of his stats.
