From my experience it's the more hardened Stoke fan that really can't stand the man. I don't get the Johnny come lately argument at all. Thats probably because its claptrap. As Albert well knows. He's not wrong about the respect though is he. It seems the blood wont be enough for some, they want to defecate on the carcass of a Stoke City great. Yes, great, any understanding of our barren history assures him of that status.

Respect as always is earned not commanded.. He has that.. It could turn ugly if he stays and we start off like this next season.. Now that would be a shame..

It's when people write crap like 'he has no respect for fans or his players' that you realise how dumb the general criticism of him is. The sensible criticism gets buried under a pile of meaningless nonsense. Some people on here have got obsessed with Pulis to a worrying degree, a bit like the type who's convinced everything wrong with their life is due to their ex husband/wife and moan about them so much that their friends get to sympathise with the ex and understand why they'd have run off to the States with Robert Huth, or managed Wales, or whatever.

Jealousy is never a nice trait in a person. If Tony Pulis retired today he would retire at the top of his game. To say anything else is simply churlish

So when we speak of giving him some respect we mean like the respect he has given/gives our players do we? Boll**s do we. Ask Michael Owen etc about respect.

I don't think he respects the fans on the whole and I think that's totally acceptable after the way we've treated him and continue to do so. With the players, I don't think he doesn't respect them but there's definitely a lack of trust, there always has been hence his rigid tactics and reliance on percentages and luck. He doesn't trust them to go out there and think for themselves.

Lets face it, we're just a bit of an odious bunch at the end of the day aren't we?

FFS it’s blindingly obvious some of you aren’t happy with Pulis and his current team selection/tactics and style of football, but show the man some respect and stop slagging him off for anything he does and everything he says some of the vitriol aimed towards him is totally out of order, just remember he’s the one that’s been responsible for arguably the best days we’ve ever witnessed at Stoke. Some of the things posted on here say just how disgustingly fickle some of the Johnny come lately’s are and some of you should hang your heads in shame but then again some of you won’t bat an eye lid over it probable the same ones that bet money on Stoke going down and openly brag about hoping it’ll happen if it means getting rid of the manager. It’s these so-called fans that I really wish would fuck off up the Vile and stay there. Gouranga. I don't agree with the personal abuse, its only a game of football at the end of the day. But, he gets paid a lot of money for the privilege of managing Stoke City and at times he's done a pretty woeful job.

I wont be around when it gets to the point where the majority of supporters weren't born to watch and understand anything but the record books so it doesn't concern me how second or third hand opinion sees it. Im more concerned about the now and the desperate need to get change so we can build what is required to enable the club to prosper over the next couple of decades or so. Nice buildings and facilities have to backed up by the know how and belief in what they are intended for. I wouldnt mind some watchable football while Im at it. Im hopeful the bigger picture will rule the day over some sentimental bollocks about glorious CVs and myth.

Well that's a pretty blanket statement. Plenty of people on here show him more respect than he deserves given what he's doing on the pitch and particularly at away games. Did Pulis show respect to the fans in Valencia I ask myself? Respect cuts both ways, it seems to me.

In truth as long as it is ended before real damage is done we will all wave him off nicely in real life.

To be fair this place is actually rather tame compared to other message boards I've seen. I refer you to the Penny Arcade Internet Dickwad Theory. And while I find some of the jeering of substitutions at games a bit unfortunate and I really find booing completely stupid we are a long long way off some of grief we used to give managers and players at games.

Good to see the crocodile tears starting nice and early doors for a nanager who will not have to contemplate doing a days work again for the rest of his days. Jealousy is never a nice trait in a person. If Tony Pulis retired today he would retire at the top of his game. To say anything else is simply churlish If you mean no other chariman would ever give him as much money as Coates has, and he's got very little chance of ever managing in the premier league again, I agree. Anyone banging on about respect - how many of you showed such respect to past players? How many of you have never called the likes of Lawrence or Pennant a fucking bellend (or worse) based on nothing but rumours (oh, and that Pulis had obviously shunned them)? How many of you judged ALL the players that brought us into the premier league with the same sense of respect you're demanding for Pulis? Never said any ill words about Creswell? Or Cort? How about Wilko, a Stoke supporter and Stoke player who's kept some of the best players in the world in his pocket in his time but still get routinely slagged off by some of those decrying a lack of "respect" right now? fuck it, how many of you wrote off Fuller as soon as the Pulis wind turned against him? A more patient person then me could post a whole literary of times Pulis has diminished the fans, but the one that sent me over the top with his was Valencia. Not only spending months banging on with his rally cry, not only taking 1(ONE) of his preferred first team out there and not even filling the fucking bench, acts that have seen the end of better managers then him all across Europe, but when he came back he was asked if he regretted the team he took out, with a mind to how off their game Valencia were in the first half. His answer was yes.. he should have played that second string team in the first leg based on how they played.. then he fucking dropped them all, some of them never to be seen again! RESPECT??! Where the fuck is the RESPECT there ey? To the interviewer, to the fans, to the fucking players that were put out as a second string rabble but put a ballsy display in that made us proud. You wanna respect Pulis? Fine, your choice. Do it. Do it twice if you want. Dont fucking expect to re-write history and expect everyone to be as eternally ball suckingingly grateful as you though - he's a "my way or the highway" manager, and I daresay man. You've picked his way. ACE! Hooray for fucking you. Some of us didnt, HE creates these divisions, he has done at every bastard club he's been at, and speaking for myself I'll clap and sing his name if his retirement is announced before his pig headedness drags us further into a whirlpool of shit next season, but dont fucking think for one goddamn second that I'm gonna pretend to worship him to appease some of you on here.
