If this thread didn't exist, would there be anything in the piece that Cross has written that would seem that ridiculous? I don't think there would, it all seems perfectly plausible, I'd say.
Not sure the Poyet bit fits Paul tbh.
Not with PC still here.

Obviously it'll be batted back.
But the choice of words will be interesting!

For what its worth the mirror article suggests Poyet is high on the Coates "radar". I guess from our point of view we could really do with Brighton not getting promoted!

Granted.
But i just can't "see" PC and someone like Poyet (who has the ability to be v unlikabe imo) getting it on.
Maybe a scenario where PC either also goes or signals a firm intention to go (with, perhaps a period of handing over of the reins to Jnr) and then I could see a more contemporary appointment like Poyet being driven by JC.
If PC remains on the Iron Throne however, I think it'll be much more Nigel Worthington.

Just doing a bit of rumour housekeeping.... So there are rumours that TP is off to the States, that Coates is stepping down and all of this at the end of the season (save for Pulis leaving before the end if we are safe) It all fits nicely into the US takeover scenario (presumably to take advantage of the new Sky deal) also rumoured on here and my money would be on a caretaker till the end of the season (GF?) then Rafa Benitez being announced after the last match. Maybe this had all been planned last season (which also fits rumours from last season of this being TPs last season), hence the reason Benitez was only appointed as interim manager at Chelsea till the end of the season, which I thought at the time was a bit odd for a club so well funded. The only hold up to the takeover deal being signed was our survival in the Prem, hence Coates not sacking Pulis cos we might have needed him to get back up had the deal been cancelled due to relegation/loss of the Sky money. Discuss

I'd be really worried if poyet or Martinez was appointed as our manager. They might make a succsess of it but it would be a massive job to turn our team into a "footballing" side. we would need to sign 7 or 8 players.

A 'washing our dirty linen in public' section of the 150th Anniversary Celebrations has now been announced at half time in the Spurs game. Pulis and Pennant talk to Jeremy Kyle about their differences. They both take a lie detector test but the machine explodes. Ebony and Ivory is playing over the tannoy. A semi clad Sir Ben Kingsley playing Tony Pulis and Colin Farrell playing James Beattie recreate Arsenal Towelgate through the medium of dance. The true scope of the Brian Little years is revealed. Pulis gets sacked I know I'm a bit late but that made me chuckle ???

There is no question that Pulis has to go but I would be concerned if Gus took over (due to his lack of experience) and Martinez ( He's sides are great to watch but they have never progressed from relegation favorites, even though other teams such as West brom and Swansea have prospered) Hopefully I am just worrying and they (if appointed) would be great managers for us. My first choice would be Rafa, not saying he would be ideal but the bloke has been to the top and done it, a few times.

Thing is Mark I think there is always a risk factor whenever you change manager. There arent many managers who we could attract who have never been near the bottom of the league/relegated at some point in their managerial career. I cant for the life of me see Rafa wanting to come here.

I have always thought there was something in the Benítez "rumour". He was here during pre-season was he not for quite a spell ? ... I cannot remember until exactly when and for how long it was but I remember it being talked about on here that he was down at the training ground etc.
Maybe, and this is all speculation of course, a deal was struck then with him that we wanted him at the end of this season. Chelsea came up (who also have Mourinho lined up or Guardiola who did not want to appear to shaft Barca) as needing/wanting someone till the end of the season and for Benítez that was a good scenario ... interim manager till end of season. A win/win for Chelsea and Benítez (except arguably their fans). Also, it was Benítez who came out int he press and stated categorically that he was only going to be there till the end of the season when he was getting pressure from the fans.
So, Chelsea get their new man at the end of the season (I spend a lot of time in Madrid for personal reasons and I can safely say that Mourhino is off somewhere !! ... so probably Mourinho goes back). Benítez becomes free to go to his new post at Stoke that he agreed last summer(ish) ?
Pick the bones out of that ! (even if it does seem far fetched that Benítez would come here but maybe he has been offered a big kitty on the back of the US takeover/more TV money/ more from Bet365 or whatever and that´s what makes it a challenge for him).

I can't see it being announced during a game if it's true. During the game would be fucking brilliant. TANNOY: "Would a Mr Smith please come to the main reception to collect your soon. Oh, and also this is the last game for Pulis." Nice one but how about TANNOY: "Would a Mr Pulis please come to the main reception to collect your P45."
