Ideal man to keep them up short term Way we had a Chairman gutsy enough to appoint him I wouldn't want him anywhere near the club.

I wonder if Paulo thinks we should bring back national involuntary servitude ? It's time to worry if the Academy of Light becomes the DiCanio Youth all of a sudden. It's the '1000 year plan' to push on that's worrying me the most!

David Miliband has resigned from whatever it was he did due to Di Canio's politics.

He was leaving anyway so it's a bit hollow but it'll get him some good Brownie points but fair play to him anyway.

Certainly one to watch with interest.
Somehow, I can't see there being any middle ground with Di Canio. He will be a rip roaring success or an unmitgated disaster with, I imagine, no real middle ground inbetween.

David Miliband has resigned from whatever it was he did due to Di Canio's politics. He is an openly declared Fascist. He declared it many times He said of Mussolini - "basically a very principled, ethical individual" who was "deeply misunderstood"

If this had happened to us today, I would now be sobbing into my whisky. A ludicrous 25 hours from a an increasingly ludicrous football club.

Could get quite nasty - at least he's off our radar when we need to renew

What a mess! Sunderland's board consists of a hedge fund entrepreneur, a politician, (just departed) a family lawyer, a pop concert organisor and an accountant. It is chaired by an American and does not include anyone with any expertise on football. Di Canio was appointed without the knowledge of David Miliband, who as a labour man would hardly agree to a fascist and is off to New York anyway but was, until an hour ago, the vice-chairman (and Arsenal supporter!) so how they came by DC is anyone's guess!
Count your blessings, fellow Stokies!

A very bold decision by the Sunderland board but Sunderland may argue desperate measures for desperate times. Their plight is very similar to ours and if they survive but we fail, then many Oatcakes academics may rue the day.... I'm not suggesting that I would welcome Di Canio or his antics at Stoke , but I certainly wouldn't dimiss this managerial change as easily as many on here.
It is very difficult at times to know for sure when a manager has served his useful cause and in O'Neill and Pulis there is very little to choose. Both seem to have hit terminal decline if results on the pitch are anything to go by ....only time will tell which club has made the right decision.

A disaster for Sunderland, a bigoted hothead who will not be able to exert the same influence over Premier League players as he did over lower League journeymen.

What are your thoughts on our current situation? It's going to be very tough because we are so out of form at the wrong time, we have to keep battling away and supporting the manager and hope we can get the rub of the green in the six pointers coming up at home. It's very difficult to see us picking up anything in the remaining away matches.

What an almighty fuck up of a season.
