Thought he did ok considering he's not fit, never played this standard before and was essentially isolated with little support going forward. Lots to come from him and think he has the character and personality to deliver. As this season is finished(barring a nightmare relegation scrap scenario) and Matty possibly injured he should be given game time to try and adapt so with a good per season he can hit the ground running for next season.

"Its not me writing him off. Its the manager. If you listen to the interview, or bother to read the post before you comment." Sounds to me the most negative Shea related words to come from TPS mouth are "Erm..'es just found out what English footballs like".

Judging a player after 70 minutes is a bit harsh. My concern is that we are signing players from a Mickey Mouse league weaker than the SPL.

Brek Shea is a poor mans Gareth Bale. A good left foot, tall, young, goofy looking...LOL

Yeah Pugsley, we should change the name from MLS to MML! Novel idea!

I think that if we were 10 games in we'd probably be drawing a line under him based on that performance. But we aren't so let's see what game time brings...if he gets any more.
On the face of it, he looked naive in the extreme, a bit like I would, if I'd won a competition to play for the football club you support, in a Premier League game. It was pretty bad.

Here we go... Why have we signed an exciting prospect who will never get a game? Why, when the same player has been injured for 6 months, is the exiting prospect, who will never play a game, played? Talk about it being impossible to please some people! If Pulis hadn't played him then it would be typical Pulis and time for Pulis to be driven out of The Potteries for good. When he does play him it's a shit decision and he should be driven out of The Potteries for good. To give the prospect some encouragement we say he's shit on his first game. Makes you proud to be a Stoke fan...

Etherington has needed competition for his spot for two years, and although yesterday he was clearly off the pace you'd have thought the scouts would have looked at him and seen the potential to do a good job, so here's hoping. I'll reserve judgement until he gets a run in the team.

That's a damning indictment of the manager. He's admitted that he's scouted Shea for 3 years and he personally travelled half the length of the UK on deadline day to get him a work permit. You don't rate Pulis much do you? You say you do but what you actually say in your posts tells a very different story. On the contrary. Something is going on at SCFC at the moment as I'm sure you have noticed. Could a newly appointed person leave in the near future? Possibly???? but not Brek Shea imo

Sadly and painfully, he looked like this was his first ever game of football he'd played in his life.

The lad can't be hung, drawn and quartered on his first outing. To judge him on half a game is just plain ridiculous!!

I thought that all things considered he did OK.
Thrown in at the deep end and not fully fit he was still our only player with a degree of skill or composure on the ball.
Despite him looking a bit "rabbit in headlights" he won the penalty and had our only real effort at goal.
I think there were plenty more players to focus on before Brek and it's frankly ridiculous to even attempt to assess him on that outing. If we are going to discuss people looking out of their depth we should perhaps start with Shea's compatriot first.

He supposed to have done well in the behind closed doors games. Yes, not strong opposition but still shone.
I spoke to jimmy greenhoff who said he caught 30 mins of the last game behind closed doors, and agreed with others who said he looks a great find.
Funny how a top four team can spend £30m on a foreign player and they say it can take 12 months for them to adjust and settle in. We sign a good prospect for bugger all and expect him to hit the ground running in a side that playing shite

Given that it was his first game......... Quality doesnt give a fook whether its his first game or not! He looked like he had about as much ball control as my 2 year old. It did look like he had a powerful shot though, perhaps hes going to take over Whelan as the only player who is allowed to shoot outside the box and hit row 105!! Shite..

Look at Giroud at Arse. Sounds and looks ideal for the Prem but he's taking a long time to settle. Mata and Silva also took a good few months. Can we expect anything different from Brek? Really?

Thought he did okay it would have been nice if he'd had chance to get the ball down and run at the full back a couple of times but unfortunately he didn't really have the opportunity. I'm sure its a big learning curve and he's probably not used to speed and physicality of the league yet. A few more weeks and I'm sure he'll catch up. The team's performance as a whole was pretty poor yesterday and was hampered by some bizarre tactics once again from the capped one.

It's hard to imagine a more difficult situation for a relatively young and inexperienced attacking player to be thrown into than a Pulis away game where the team is playing poorly even by their own not very high standards.
What Brek needs now is 15 minutes at the end of the West Ham game, when hopefully the game will be stretched, he'll have some space to run at players and he'll have the crowd 100% behind him.
The worst thing that Pulis can do now is not to give him another chance.

I think the bloke in front of me summed up his performance yesterday when he said"he looked like he'd won a competition to play out there".In all fairness though we can't really judge him on one game and like many have said we have massive problems all over the pitch and in the dugout.

With Matty injured yesterday, who will fill his role on the left? It might have to be Shea, I can't think of anyone else (sensible that is)

That is pretty much what happened to Shea. I doubt he grew up following Stoke, but I am sure it was his dream to play in England. It is almost like winning a competition when a player is allowed to be sold by MLS. I'd say he was very nervous and excited.

Rather than judge someone who's played his first ever 70- minutes in the Prem. We should focus on all the other shite in side that have years of experience but seem not to know what a football is.

I think with the crowd behind him and a more attacking approach V West Ham we could see a new Shea. That said I'd prefer Matty.
I have this awful feeling he might bring in Whitehead.
Dont be surprised with this lineup Saturday

Shotton.....GCam........Ryan......Wilson
Jon.........,.Whelan.....NZonzi....,WHead
