I'm sorry march that's clearly crap as 100 people have voted him in! And it's in the arse end of nowhere as this forum goes, it should be in this bit and I think it'd get 1000 votes easy. A lot of people also don't know. Until the Wigan I wasn't sure but that was it for me. He has to go. We'll have to agree to disagree then, mate. There's a thread about giving him another season and the football will get better. Well that was me last year because last season I thought we were dire and despite Europe we had no real excuses, it was down to TP. I thought he deserves another chance with what he's done and this season we'll have no excuses, there are no distractions and we'll be better for it. Boy was I wrong, we've been worse and the excuse of the money has come in. What's next seasons excuse? I've had enough of lame excuses for dross football.

Really You don't think 200 registering their point and the other 13,467 watching in amusement proves anything at all? I think the vast majority of those 13,000 probably didn't even notice. Plus there will be thousands who never come on here anyway. Given that it's pretty much impossible to get the vote of absolutely everybody, what would you consider a valid sample size? I realise that in reality it would depend on which way the vote went, but let's try and pretend it doesn't

;D ;D So by this reasoning about march about 0.25 % of our supporters want to keep him , A massive backing Silence implies consent in law, bayern. Only the moaners respond in a protest vote. There are 200 of them - end of story. "silence cannot amount to acceptance" Felthouse v Bindley (1862) But good try but utterly wrong in law.

Opinion polls have a varying "margin of error" , this generally can be between 3% to 5% based on 1000 to the overall population ! March seems to think ours has over 99% inaccuracy

I can promise you all he will never relegate us. I can promise you all that we will average 1 good game/result in every 10.
Attending the games and buying the season tickets will only keep him in charge.

Whatever the actual figure, I think there is no doubt that a very sizeable proportion of season ticket holders wouldn't be devastated if TP moved on at the end of the season. And I think that is quite incredible considering our current league position and where we've finished over the last four seasons. People from Stoke-on-Trent aren't unusually thicker than people from the rest of the country, so there is something else afoot here. Yeah I would suspect that too. They wouldn't be devastated. Not the same thing as them wanting him out though. It would also depend on who the replacement was. Indeed but I still find that in itself quite incredible, considering where we currently sit and where we have been finishing in the table. The football must be really, really bad ...

Phil and March, I'm not having a dig - I would be genuinely interested to hear why you consider things will improve? What justification is there for the continued away malaise? Why is it right to keep playing the same way away and losing so regularly? Choosing the same players when it isn't working?

But if you wanted it to be representative of Stoke fans in general you wouldn't necessarily do it on this MB. I'm not really too bothered which way this imaginary poll would come out. I haven't tried to twist the figures to fit an argument. If you think I'm just saying this because I'm in love with Pulis or something ridiculous (which quite a few people on here seem to think) then just read my response to March above. I very much doubt that such a poll would really count as valid evidence in support of any generalization about the current views of our supporter base... although of course I may be wrong.

Erm, this site has 13,667 members? And it's in a section no fooker bothers with. The poll was bounced to the top of the board repeatedly bayern. Even out of 13,667, 200 is a laughable number. And the biggest laugh is the 200 keep egging each other on. I think your misunderstanding the word poll. A poll takes a sample from a population and tries to understand the total population. I think what you are describing is a vote. For a population of 10,000 a sample of just 370 gives a 95% confidence level with just a 5% margin of error. The sample here it could be argued is not representative, but where else could you take a sample of Stoke fans?

Why is it right to keep playing the same way away and losing so regularly? Choosing the same players when it isn't working? I didn't say it would necessarily improve. I don't think there is much justification for it to be honest but I still wouldn't want the manager out unless I knew they had someone decent lined up to replace him. I also wouldn't want them to do it midway through a season. And I certainly wouldn't want to 'demonstrate my disapproval' in any way on a matchday for the simple reason that it would probably make things even worse.

Even if we take march's fantasy figures, 300-odd is a perfectly decent sample size.
I never quite know where this idea comes from that this messageboard and P&G are unrepresentative of our wider support. It seems to be an idea that negative people are more likely to voice their opinion - I assume, by that logic, that a comparable poll about the manager of every Premiership team would result in similar proportions?

I agree now is not the time, but the end of the season is, for me.
Why sign so many players you have no intention of playing?
Why play the same way away every time when it has so seldom worked?
Why play players repeatedly who offer so little in terms of threat.
The idea of football is to score goals and win. I am really beginning to forget how we played away when we were promoted - surely we must have gone for it at times?
If we are 10th, there must be 6 or 8 clubs we are more than capable of beating away, and another 6 we could draw with if are positive, so why give up an hour of every game trying to strangle the game before attempting to score a goal? We are losing anyway, so why not try something new?
I am genuinely baffled how this can be defended any longer.

Yes I do think you are 'in love' with TP, but that's besides the point. If it was marginal then fair enough but it's twice as many, it's a landslide, any political party would be over the moon even if the sample size was a 100! You can think of no number whatsoever that would satisfy your conditions of a valid poll? Amazing.

Unless you show the statistics for the 39,800 who have said they want Pulis to stay then be quiet. 40,000 people were asked if they wanted TP out. 200 said they did. It's hard to take isn't it that you are in a minority so tiny your views are fun to debate but don't carry an ounce of credence. Are the 39,800 others supporters from other clubs, voting for him to stay so they don't end up with him.

Yeh I think so tbh, it would be close but I think there would be more to keep him as manager. It'd be close you say, so somewhere around 50/50 then, maybe a bit more one way or a bit more the other way. Don't you find that absolutely incredible considering that we currently sit 10th in the Prem? Is it becasue 50% of Stoke City supporters are thick as fook, or might there actually be something about the manager that transcends our league position? The only thing it could be is the way we play, if some are unhappy about where we are in the league they should go and support Man U.

He's so aware of his incompetencies - he wouldn't know when a rottweiller had its teeth wrapped round his balls!
Voted - 69% now - and rising!

We always finish midtable and we currently are midtable and yet (around) 50% of Stokies would be happy to see him go. Considering that people from Stoke-on-Trent aren't unusually stupid, then the football must be really pretty grim to watch, for this to be the case.
