Simply there was nothing to cheer about on the pitch, all the best atmospheres come when something controversial , exciting etc happens and today there was nothing. Both sides where poor and didn't crate much and both defenses where solid.

Just like the "performance" Against Arsenal in the past that's never made a difference though. We didn't exactly batter them last season but the atmosphere was a million times better. Fans weren't good enough today, just like some of the players

Probably because it was all too predictable to see how it was going to pan out?
When we did try and get forward the crowd noise increased, but surely the onus is on the manager and players to be positive and try and win a home game, and give the crowd something to get their teeth into. If we are positive but still don't win, at least they've give it a go and the crowd appreciates this.

Fans weren't good enough today, just like some of the players We may not have battered them in the past but we've always looked like we may score a goal. We've put them under a lot of pressure and thats reflected in the crowd. The fans feed off the players. There is absolutely nothing to get excited about. Its total toss and to be honest I'm bloody sick of it.

We've never looked quite that flat at home against arsenal before though have we? Equally that's the worst arsenal team i've seen down there. The crowd started off well up until just after the disallowed goal. After that however nothing happened to evoke any reaction.

We never turned up.
"Where's ye famous atmosphere" is the most sung song at the Brit nowadays.
Whose fault is that?
It's ours. Why do we have to wait for a controversial decision etc. Thats just makin excuses. Get behind the team ffs.

Just like the "performance" I agree But there's the reason for shit atmosphere You mean there's the reason for the shit performance! The last few years we have performed because of the atmosphere. Our team plays to the tempo we set. We are now just average prem fans who wait for a goal or chance before we sing.

When all your seeing is one team passing it around with no end product and another team sitting on the edge of their box and booting it up to the opposition time after time it leaves very little to get excited and worked up about.
The worst decision today was to not install Angry Birds on my phone before setting off.

If the team shows no signs of threatening, and the manager no signs of changing it, what is there to shout about?
The atmosphere was fine for 20 minutes until it became quite clear that we were playing in the same mundane fashion as we did at the back end of last season. Time after time players got the ball and their team-mates ran away leaving them with no option. It's quite clear that the mantra is, simply, 'twat it lads'.

I agree completely, it has dipped recently but surely you can see and understand the correlation between entertainment and the appreciation of said entertainment ? When we play well the fans respond ... if a games dull and event-less the opposite is bound to happen.

Arsenal knew that a hostile crowd favoured us and not them. Everything in the first hour was geared to killing the crowd. Wenger made sure not to make a scene and spent most of the game sat down. Arsenal played mind numbing halfway-line keep ball and kept their usual antics to a minimum.
They may have been dreadful on the pitch, but Arsenal's biggest strategy worked perfectly.

...The last few years we have performed because of the atmosphere. Our team plays to the tempo we set. Generally disagree with the above. It is essentially a symbiotic relationship but with the team being the dominant partner. We can pick the team up and encourage them but, on the whole, fans react to what is happening on the pitch not the other way round.

The club has taken a step backwards by failing to properly strenghten and by playing retrograde football by sticking by a failed system (Walters / Crouch) and thats the fans fault ?
Fuck off

Atmosphere is always fueled by performance. It was obvious we would kill the game and eek out a draw, now we've been in this league a draw against Arsenal just isn't that much of a deal, rightly or wrongly.
It's worth noting though that the atmosphere was toss by OUR standards, it was still miles better than 75% of other grounds.
