Atmosphere is always fueled by performance. It was obvious we would kill the game and eek out a draw, now we've been in this league a draw against Arsenal just isn't that much of a deal, rightly or wrongly. It's worth noting though that the atmosphere was toss by OUR standards, it was still miles better than 75% of other grounds. Agree 100% So when the atmosphere is great before the game starts, is it how fast the players ran in the warm up? Sing your heart out every game, get the famous atmosphere back, we all want one thing in the end and thats a Stoke win. Lets do our part again.

I think we need to get over ourselves? We have this reputation as being loud and intimidating, but it turning into a myth.
We can blame the manager, the players, the ref the man in the fookin moon if we want, but it's upto us to up the ante in my opinion.
We are at our best when we feel we're being cheated or treated unfairly, and then the temperature is lifted. But as much as it pains me to say it, there are other fans who are way ahead of us in terms of backing their teams and clubs imo.

There's no doubt about it... The honeymoon is over Those 11 are going to have do it on their own
If we are not going to be up for it against Arsenal in August its definitely not going to v Wigan in January

Our 12th man seems intent on reducing the team to 10 men. Sad.

I think the '12th man' has been taken for granted by those employed by the club as well.
It's a two way street.

Seemingly, the 12th man will only be interested again if the man in the dugout is removed.
Sad.

Last season the excuse was the poor performances. People claimed that they would sing if we were playing good football and/or winning games. What was the excuse today? We were pretty poor in possession and offered nothing going forward but if you can't get up for the first home game of the season against our biggest rivals in the league then there's something wrong with you IMO. It was clear the players needed a bit of a lift but nothing really came.

The 1st half was not too bad.
The 2nd half we sat back, invited the pressure and parked the bus at home, when on seasons gone by we would have still gone at Arsenal. I think people are becoming disillusioned with the tactics. we created 1 decent chance and Walters barely tapped it.
There is an argument to suggest an early goal for Arsenal or a terrible error from the Ref would have put us back into "fight mode", but Arsenal were pretty pants blazing it miles over the bar.

I enjoyed today, lots of humour about
What we have lost though is the angry, underdog, been wronged attitude we had for the first 2 years
On the pitch too there are no snappy tackles, body on the line stuff (bar Wilko sticking his head in the way today which was ace)
The crowd need that level of effort on the pitch, the on pitch seem to want more from the crowd - is a tough balance, give and take
That said, the amount of moaning bastards seem to be on the increase not just on here, but P&G, Sentinel and on the terraces
The old 'look where we were 10 years ago' argument is a shit one, I agree, but FFS we have just held Arsenal to a draw and are unbeaten in the league!
A few players would transform that team, TP doesn't help himself with selections and subs, but I can understand why he picks Walters over Jerome - one will put a shift in for 90, one will explode for 10 mins then fizzle out
Obv a star striker would generate a buzz, as would a marquee midfielder, but at the minute both the crowd and I imagine the players know it will be a tight 0-0, 0-1 or 1-0 game with little excitement or chances created.

Come on guys, this is silly. Why are Stoke fans turning on fellow Stoke fans?
The atmosphere very much reflected the game today and, sadly, the run we've been on in 2012.
The support at Reading las week was absolutely fantastic and even today it started off superbly. The fans answer the call time and again (as they did when 6,000 turned up in Valencia and got treated to a reserve team line-up)
Eventually though there has to be something to cheer about, something to put a bit of fire in the belly's of the fans. We're not scoring goals and we're not even creating chances.
The fans are the absolute least of any problems we have at the club.

What comes first? The team lifting the crowd, or the crowd lifting the team?
In that particular dilemma, we can only influence half of it, so for me, this is our team, our players and our fookin club!! We should give everything, now matter how tough it can be, and play our part in the game.
We aren't half as good a set of fans as many of us would have people believe. Fans by nature are fickle the world over, but we are nowhere near as good as we think!
I'm not a newbie where Stoke are concerned, my first game was over 40 years ago, so I am speaking from experience. We are at our best when we feel wronged, always have been, but we need to be more proactive and set the tone in games ( Accidental pun!!) rather than always wait for the team to do it, then moan like fook, that the atmosphere is flat!

Today was the first match i've been to in a couple of seasons (save the Semi Final) and it was pretty depressing hearing so much abuse for our own players, and for Tone and there being a real disjointedness to the singing.
Obviously a lot of this is down to there not being such a "Them and Us" mentality around the club now...We're mid table also rans...Neither vying for dinner at the top table, nor fighting for scraps at the bottom. In short, we're comfortable.
We had promotion, then staying up...then staying up again...and the cup run...All of this meant we were on the same hymn sheet, even if the football agitated us at times.
I think we need to start playing the Great Escape music before matches...Or Dambusters theme...And have TP mocked up as Kitchener on the screen...Get some solidarity going!

Of course it's the fan's fault. I mean, look at all the goalmouth incidents that got us up off our feet; the brilliance of our front two pairing who gave their defenders so many problems; the width we played with that stretched them at the back, and let's not forget the number of fantastic saves their number 3 keeper brought off. OS.

We can only influence one part of that argument.

I dont think the fans are going to tolerate him much longer. And we will press the self destruct button firmly down.
