A fit owen would be great , but only if we supplied him with passes in the right area, the worry is always going to be keeping fit and he may not want lots of money by his standards but 30k a week is a lot for us to risk on a player with his injury record . I think thats why we want him on a pay as he plays deal

Our offer is pretty much certain for being on the table for sometime now, probably has been for a number of weeks - we suit him for a number of very practical and obvious reasons
and yet, he waits
not for football reasons
for a better offer - pure and simple !
SO - why do people try to complicate such simple issues ?

Quality player if fit. He comes across as a nice bloke who loves his football. Cant see him wanting to finish his career with us though, unless we get someone in who can supply him/or play the players that can supply him, which has got to be part of the discussions with his people, not just wedge...?

I think it's more Stoke waiting than Owen, we can't afford to pay wages to six forwards one or two would have to go first

He seems keen to have somewhere local....very keen on staying in the PL
Seems inevitable to be honest, at least he's got loads of self belief

He didn't sound like he'd be happy to be a last 10-15 minutes option either.
Being a starter is what he's after.
I really can't see how that could happen for him here.

I like his attitude, wants to play regularly and seems very confident he still has it!

Can't really see how ANY club is going to meet the criteria he's drawn up.

I like his attitude, wants to play regularly and seems very confident he still has it! Me too and I'm now 44 and still awaiting an offer from Stoke. Reality is he's achieved very little in the past 4 seasons. Give me a go Tone, I'm ace, honest!

No doubt he's class but surely we have got to be reducing the age on our squad getting rid of the likes of Jones/jerome for old have beens got to be a massive risk

Can't really see how ANY club is going to meet the criteria he's drawn up. He spent 2 minutes explaining how life as an impact player was not conducive to him performing. So, if that's the plan here, we can forget it. And obviously there's no way he could be a starter for us in our set-up. I can't see how it could possibly work - unless location to his house and stables is a lot more important than he was claiming just now.

everton were interested in him, i think. If they want him i think he will go there, if not i think he will come here I can't see him at Everton mate. They already have Jelavic, just signed miralles, and last i heard were close to signing that Niang fella too.

I'd have him here in a flash and having heard what he just said, I don't think that it would take a massive leap of faith by either Owen or the club for him to sign on the dotted line. Just wish that we would be decisive, just for once.

I find myself warming to him as a person. Quite down-to-earth with just the right amount of self-confidence and said all the right things.
But just looks like the most ridiculous potential signing for us on every level

In fact he was finished when he was at Newcastle.

He might have said all the right things but I really do think he's got his head in the clouds.
He wants a team that is ...
a.) Local b.) In the Premiership c.) Are prepared to bring him in as first choice up front.
And I'd guess that he'll want a contract that reflects criteria c.
It's not going to happen Michael and is probably why you haven't got a club at the moment ....
