These fucking international pre-season games are stupid. No wonder most managers want them gone.

Got to be doubtful he'll chuck Popov straight in, though. He's playing Lithuania in Macedonia on Wednesday night. So maybe the first time he'll be on the training pitch with the rest of the team is Friday morning. Can't see Pulis throwing him straight into Reading in those circumstances. Perhaps, but Macedonia is very different to the US of A...I'd like to see him play against Reading, but being an away game maybe I'm expecting too much; more likely we'll be cautious and go all out for the 0-0.

I'm almost certain neither Cameron or Popov will play v Reading, and can you really see TP playing either of them against Arsenal the week after? We're probably 3/4 weeks away from seeing them anywhere near the 1st team

www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/Stoke-City-Huth-make-Potters-Premier-opener/story-16712104-detail/story.htmlPulis also has decisions to make in central midfield as Whitehead is one of six players in with a shout of two slots following the summer arrival of American international Geoff Cameron and former Rangers youngster Jamie Ness.
With Glenn Whelan away on international duty this week and Wilson Palacios still struggling for his best form, both places could be up for grabs.
Whitehead admits Cameron has made a favourable early impression after winning international clearance, but his departure for a friendly in Mexico could hamper his chances on Saturday.
"Geoff has settled in like he's been here for five years," said Whitehead."

Shit! So he never leaves the centre circle and can't make a 5 yard pass. I had such high hopes as well!

Palacios still struggling for form? We haven't played a friggin' game yet! Yeah. Dunno why Spinksy keep banging this 'Palacios still struggling for his best form' drum. That's the second time he's used that line in the last week. Palacios' significant improvement seemed to be the one good thing to emerge from pre-season

I can't see Cameron playing this weekend. The Mexico v USA game has been postponed until Thursday. 2 games in 3 days with all the travelling on top doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah - you'd have to say 'no chance' of starting on Saturday.
KO in Mexico City is 1am tomorrow morning our time, isn't it?
Then he'll spend all day Thursday travelling with about 12 hours in the air.
No prospect of Pulis starting him. Suppose he could sneak him on the bench, but even that's probably unlikely.
Klinsmann has done him no favours in picking him in this squad for a friendly when he's trying to settle in.

Palacios' significant improvement seemed to be the one good thing to emerge from pre-season Tony “performances aren’t important in pre-season, it’s all about getting fitness levels up” Pulis. Spinks can frig off if he’s referring to form in friendlies.

The line-up on Saturday will have a familiar look to it, although it's quite possible Kightly could play instead of Matty or Pennant as both are struggling with knocks. Aren't they?

No chance he will pick Cameron for Reading, so I hope he gets a run out for the USA. Its been a while since he last played a competitive match.

I'd like to see this XI starting when everything with permits, fitness etc is sorted. I have no idea if it's our best, having not seen three of them play before but it's certainly the most exciting looking at the minute.
Begovic; Wilson, Shawcross, Huth, Popov; Pennant, Cameron, Palacios, Kightly; Crouch, Walters.
For Reading though, I'd imagine:
Begovic, Wilkinson?, Shawcross, Upson, Wilson; Kightly, Whitehead, Palacios, Etherington; Crouch, Walters.

Just noticed on the BBC sport website that the Mexico v USA friendly tonight has been postponed until tomorrow night instead. With Cameron over there I can't see him having much chance of getting back and featuring on Saturday

Didn't he say himself that he would be available for Arsenal and not Reading a couple of weeks back?

All other sources seem to say it's still scheduled for 1am our time tonight.
No chance of him starting on Saturday, though, after travelling all day tomorrow.

Not if Pulis has a say in it ;D I bet Tony is absolutely seething...and I would put money part of the reason why he hates signing foreign players being that international duties (especially across the pond) are a huge inconvenience to the club

Cameron Jerome said "See you on Friday" to him, so you'd expect he may actually be with the squad...I doubt he'll play, though. Stranger things have happened.
