Well done Fabrice and well done the emergency guys and football staff.
That was one salutory lesson for us all.
Best wishes to him and his family.

even if stable he's got a huge road in front of him. Pray he hasn't suffered due to loss of oxygen to the brain or owt like that.
Cracking player, seems a decent lad too from what I've seen. Prayers with him.

is this similar to what happened to clive clark?? maybe, and Marc Vivien Foe and the Motherwell captain, and a 16 year old lad near me a couple of years ago, it may be more common than we'd like

I'd be interested to know what causes young, perfectly fit athletes to just drop down like that...had it not have been for the immediate proximity of well qualified medics, it may not be such reassuring news. I'm contemplating cmc89's post and wonder how much truth there could be in that...it sounds rather plausible It'll all be purely speculation at this time but the most likely causes for an athlete at his age are 1) HOCM 2) blood clot HOCM (Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy) is where the heart muscle is enlarged to a point where it actually blocks blood flow out to the body. It's a (relatively) common cause of sudden death in young athletic lads and most don't know they have the condition until a massive incident (such as this) happens. I hope fabrice recovers quickly but if it is HOCM it may be his playing days are over. Needless to say, football isn't exactly a priority for anyone right now and everyone just wishes him a speedy recovery I guess time will tell, and i'm just glad that the lad is stable....nothing else really matters tonight x

As I understand it ( and I am certainly no expert ) certain forms of cronic heart disease are practically undetectable until they strike a fatal blow , scary , hope the lad pulls through !

If not physically, it could do mentally.
It would take quite a lot to get over something like that.

(@robins4479 is steve robinson. a cardiologist spurs fan who ran onto the pitch to help save muamba's life )

If he pulls through, It should be the end of his career right? due to health reasons i would say so. i cant see him being able to carry on. if its similar to clive clark he will retire to prevent it happening again. sad really but if it will save his life it is for the best i hope if he is forced to retire bolton will do the same for him as we are doing with mama and pay his wages (or at least a proportion of them) to him for what would have been the rest of his career. lets hope he pulls through first though

The very fact the paramedics have managed to get him to hospital and onto ICU is incredible and they have given him a fighting chance. My thoughts are with him and his family. The treatment he has received really is wonderful and everyone involved should be very proud.
My young son has a corrected cardiac condition and suffered a cardiac arrest. He has (touch wood) made a full recovery thanks to the heroes who treated him. I sincerely hope Fabrice can follow the same path. x
