Given a great opportunity to prove it today, but blew his chance. Legend is a very overused term, like world class, genius, etc. I'm afraid he'll be remembered as much for his stupidity as for the magical goals that he scored. That, I'm afraid does not equal 'legend'. He looked totally embarrassed when Drogba was talking to him immediately afterwards. Rightly so Ric,... for today read Prick.

You really think a first Premier League start since January 1st 2011, stuck out on the left wing with Diao and Whitehead in central midfield away at Chelsea is "a great opportunity"?

Better players than fuller have been asked to play and do a Job for 90 minutes on the left, like Rooney. Just get on with it, do your best and give everything to try and help your team to a result.

It was an oppurtinity to disprove the impact sub myth, but he blew it and he (should) no doubt be kicking himself now

Any start for Fuller at this stage in his career is a great opportunity. All he needs to do is keep his head and give it his best shot. He still gets paid when he's on the bench.

ok I'll start but others may follow.... Stein. Hero for us,brilliant player but not at top level better than Ric,dot think so but each to their own Yep, I'm with you, Steino banged them in at a much much lower level and didn't succeed in the top flight despite playing in a better team than Stoke.

I absolutely agree with that Sportsman, and I'm in no way trying to excuse Ric's petulance today, but come on, he would've struggled to have made an impact and grab this so called opportunity up front today, never mind stuck out on the wing.
It's hard to understand why he was even selected to play there today. It's pretty obvious from the team selection that this was another of TP's "write off" games, so why didn't he simply rest Jonny Walters, put Ric up front and Pennant on the left wing?
If nothing else, we'd have had better delivery from set pieces from Pennant, and when all is said an done, set pieces are usually the only way we're going to score at a place like Stamford Bridge.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis on Ricardo Fuller red card: “I’ve just watched it on the TV and it’s a ridiculous reaction. Ric has been at this club for six years now and he’s been fantastic. But he is prone to react sometimes like that. It is unacceptable. He’s a great lad and I’ve got a lot of time for him. He was the first one to apologise when we were all in the dressing room. I’ll speak to him on Monday before I speak to anyone else That it was his first league start in a long time makes it doubly disappointing.”
Indefensible actions today. But he's always had it in him, and we all know it.
He'll get fined 2 weeks wages and probably feel like shit all weekend.
He's got real anger management issues. When he thinks he's wronged, he sees the red mist......and KABOOM!
But you'd hope he'd built up enough credit to avoid the kind of bullshit abuse he's got today.
Depressingly, obviously not.
It's saddening to see this kind of kneejerk nonsense written about a player who's done so much for us and is the best player I've ever seen at Stoke.

Absolutely FM. How many times are certain sections of the Stoke support accused of having short memories or forgetting where we've come from? Seems to have been a lot of that on the message board today.

Time for a poll!? Legend or not, since that is what we are discussing. Burrows Yes; Ritchie Yes; Greenhoff Yes; Hudson Yes (most definitely). I have a long memory and whooped like a maniac at Ric's wondergoals. 'Fraid he wasn't a legend yesterday and only one today for the wrong reasons.

The thing is though, if Ric isn't a legend, who else from the last 20 years (apart from Steino is?). In my view a legend is someone who will have his stories (his 'legend' - geddit?) passed down to the next generation and so on. Stokies under 30 won't have seen Hudson play, but will know he is a legend because Dad told them all about him. I guarantee Ric will be the player the young Stokies of today tell their children about - so yes, he is a Stoke legend. If he can slap his captain in the face in the midst of a relegation dogfight and still be a hero, he sure as hell still can be now. I know who I want to come on in extra-time in the Cup Final this year, that's for sure.

His goalscoring record since promotion has been poor and his disciplinary record for a forward is disgraceful. Some legend. His goals per start since promotion is pretty good actually. He's always been more than goals as anyone who travels away will testify. For what he's done for Stoke City he is an undoubted legend.

We won 6 (SIX!) away games in our first two seasons in the Prem. Ric was massive in all of them. 08/09 WBA 2-0: Scores and is vital in first away Prem win Hull 2-1: Scores when it really mattered as Stoke stay up 09/10 Spurs 1-0: Run and pass for Whelan in 90th minute. Cue mental. Portsmouth 2-1: Makes Salif Diao score a winning goal (I think we've hit legend already ) West Ham 1-0: THAT goal Fulham 1-0: Assist for Etherington winner

His goalscoring record since promotion has been poor and his disciplinary record for a forward is disgraceful. Some legend. True his disciplinary record is bad,but it's easy to forget that on his day he has been one of the best players i've ever seen in a Stoke shirt in nearly 30 years of following us. In my eyes a definite legend.

Only 10 league games left for him to prove his worthiness of a new contract - and now he will be banned for 3 of them anyway. Not looking good. I am gutted myself, as I think he is a magical footballer - really don't want it to end this way, but I have a horrible feeling it just has?

Fuller is a liability and has been for the past 2 years. If Fuller is the best Stoke player you have seen then you must still be at school. I'm not at school, I'm 20 years old and Fuller is the best player I have seen in a Stoke shirt, who are you to question that opinion? Unpredictable and not always able to produce a great goal - but that's why he has been playing for Stoke! If he could score goals like he did against West Ham in every single game then he wouldn't have ever signed for Stoke. Only player we've had in the PL who excites as soon as he touches the ball.

The term kneejerk has a clue in the title about the vast majority of people who make that reaction.
Fuller was totally brainless today, but I question some people's sanity with their agenda-ridden bile.
I could have come home and he was on top of my missus and he'd still be a Stoke legend in my eyes. He's no 'Super' Jon Walters though, is he lads?

Somebody should have told him before the game that he was on a football pitch and not in Touch, you can't just go around assaulting people on a pitch.
Reckon that's him done in a Stoke shirt now sadly, he'll be left to rot in "Pennant corner".
