Met Thorney as a kid who was a real top bloke. Listened to my pissed up old man for 30-40 mins whilst he told him just how shite his strike partner (paul stewart) was ;D
Walked past duberry once, instinct took over and before i knew it i was greeting him with a Doooooobs!!!. It soon became apparant that i wasn't in a football crowd and i'd just made myself look a right twat ;D

Was at Wolstanton golf club once with my owd man and John Richie was on the green. I was only young and apparently I ran up to his ball and threw it in a water hazard. He saw the funny side and asked my dad if I could have a kit-kat!
Been lucky enough to have a tour of the old vic given by Sir Stan himself then have a penalty shoot-out against him in front of the old boothen end. Wish I was older as I was young again and caannot remember it at all (i have a picture on his knee).
Played against Shotton a few times aswell Once he was playing LB for some reason and I was right wing, I had a blinder that day and can remember nut-megging him and out sprinting him a few times. Shame he went up front later in the game and scored a hat-trick the w***er!
Drag raced Pennant on the A34 by the new Sainsburys not long ago. Pulled up alongside me, we made eye contact and i pointed ahead, smiled and revved my engine. He nodded and smile so we were on. The lights hit green and I took the lead by a cars lenght. Then he floored his Aston and flew past me pissing himself (put his hazards on) and continued on his way. I drive a 998cc Yaris I would like to add!

Cheers for these folks- certainly given me some ideas anyway.
These all seem quite positive exchanges. Has anyone had a really bad experience? (again be careful about names etc)

I was in the outside lane and this Cayenne Turbo come roaring up behind me and I could clearly see Wilko's face, needless to say I unleashed all 80bhp of my Corsa, he absolutely crushed me ;D

Yeah, don't mind naming him either!
Fell out with Huddy one Sat night in the Placemate in Newcastle. I used to see him regulary in there, but this time he was being a total arsole and bighead. He said something totally out of order to a female friend of mine (not my girlfreind) which i don't want to repeat. i asked him to apologise as my friend was cleary very upset, but he didn't give a shit. All he said was 'did you see me today? Good eh?'
He was with Jackie Marsh who said sorry on his behalf. Then i saw Huddy many years later in the Power League bar before we played Chelsea. 'Still not speaking?' he asked. 'Too bloody right' i replied. Still, one hell of a footballer!

Have met Denis Smith, John Marsh, Terry Conroy, at the Stakis Hotel a few tears ago. Myself and my brother had a great time. I also sat in front of Mike Pejic at the Wigan game last season and had my photo taken with him. Right chuffed I was. He had a very firm handshake, which is always a good sign in my view. I also has my photo taken with Matty on my 60th birthday celebration at the Brit.

Years ago when I was a kid, I lived in the Westlands, Sneyd Avenue to be precise. Twas a snowy Boxing day, and a took a ride on my new bike, up towards Newcastle Golf Club. As I got closer to the newly constructed roundabout, I saw a Mini Cooper, perfectly balanced on it's roof in the middle. Took a couple of tours around it, saw the tyre tracks in the mud, saw that other than being upside down the car was realtively undamaged, and guessed the occupant(s) would have been too. In the days to come it came out that the driver was non other than our erstwhile super talented inside forward, Alan Anthony Hudson!!! The story went that whilst lodging with Geoff Hurst, who was the landlord of the Sheet Anchor, Huddy had torn off back to the Potteries, forgetting that the previous, cross-roads had been turned into a freshly constructed roundabout. Years later, when out at the Cockloft in Stableford, I happened across a slightly worse for wear Huddy at the bar, and without thinking of the consequences, patted him on the shoulder, and told him "now Huddy, you'll remember there's a roundabout now, outside the Golf Club!!" The look he gave me, and the words he came out with made me realize I might have hit a nerve or two!! Great player, though......think may'be the best I'll have ever seen in a Stoke shirt.

A few years ago I was out in Newcastle on a night out with the lads when i got dragged outside by one of them. I looked around and saw the rest of my mates chatting to Ricky Fuller!
I cant remember what was exactly said due to my drunken state but i remember shaking his hand and telling him to get us some goals (season before we were in the prem).
Needless to say i had to confirm these events with my mates in the morning, but was a great moment.

Other than the time you saw Wayne Thomas in Greggs? If so I'd be interested to know the details. Where was it? What happened? Was it positive? Negative? What did you talk about? I'm considering penning an article on those awkward fan meets player moments and would welcome any input from those willing to share a story. (It doesn't have to be a Stoke player- any footballer would do) PM me if you're embarrassed to post the gory details here, and I'll make sure you keep your anonymity (unless you really demand otherwise). Obviously don't post anything libelous when broadcasting the details of any exchange that was less than pleasant. Thanks- this could be interesting. Or perhaps not. ;D ;D Thought in the summer I'd take a look at the new training ground. We went down and we were about 39mins early before they came out. If you've been/seen Clayton Woods then you'll know it's got a great big walk way around the outside and they've planted trees on the outskirts. Anyway, we were on the far side closest to where they train. Typical TP was playing a game of midfielders hoof it in the box and the defenders have to clear. Strikers were shooting in an open goal. Goalkeepers were all shooting against each other and then Sidibe, Lund and Andrew Davies were training/stretching, coming back from injury. We were watching TP do his session, then as we were walking round, there was Andrew Davies with his shlong out having a piss. Right in the bushes letting it out. He goes "Sorry lads I've got to go" and we turned the other way ;D Saw him about 30mins later outside the gates and he gaves us that awkward stare and drove off ;D

Still good mates with an ex player but don't see him so much since I moved in 2000. He now has a high profile job in footy. Still in touch though. Used to be good mates with Aaron O'Callaghan, knew Huddy, Inchy, TC, Banksie (shared an accountant!). Have met Eastham, Ritchie, Dodd, Marsh. Later on knew Tony Ford and Parkin (a git of the highest order). I'd better not tell the Parkin stories here - just in case.
