Quite a few years back I was on hols in Hotel in Cyprus, there was a rumour going round that a professional footballer was staying there. I kept my eyes open but couldn't spot anyone. One day I was round the pool in me Stoke shorts whe a guy in the pool waved to me so I went over for a chat. He asked if I went to a lot of the games which I said yes although I lived in London, I then asked him if he went and he said yeah I go to all the games I play for them!!!!! It was Ronnie Sinclair, I was just so embarrassed

Got to the Brit very early twice. First time met Pulis outside the clubshop and second time met Shawcross and Huth as they were getting out of their cars. All had photos taken. Seemed nice enough chaps.

I once played Graham Shaw at snooker - I played for Burslem, I can't remember which team he played for (oddest thing was he played with a metal cue!!!!)
Seem to remember he a missed a few sitters that day as well :-) I also met Ryan Shawcross on the train back from London the Monday after the recent Fulham game; nice down to earth guy and happy to have his photo taken with my lad...oh and Graham was a much better footballer than potter by the way!

Met Gordon Banks a few times. Inchy many times. And kicked a ball around with Sir Stan, when I was a nipper. The magic didn't rub off.

I saw Asmir Begovic on Saturday at my daughters ballet class in Trent Vale, i have been staring at him for the last 3 weeks thinking 'is it him? it conna be?'. Then he got up and he's a bloody giant, so i followed him pretending i was talking to someone on my phone. He got in a big Audi jeep-type thingy. I am in the process of trying to sort a loft conversion for my step-lad but have now decided to convert it into a shrine for collecting Bosnian/Canadian goalkeepers, hopefully by 2019 i may have enough for a football team. I think i need to see someone, the parrots in my head are now telling me that i should not just go for goalkeepers but also defenders/midfielders and strikers. Now..onto google for Edin Dzeko's address.....

Was at Disneyland Paris when Simmo clocked me in my Stoke top and came over and had a good chat with me Top bloke said that Higgy was also on the park somewhere too. This could be an interesting one...player hassles fan. ;D How did he open the conversation, and did you recognise him straight away? (And had his wig blown off on one of the rides?) My old man was telling me the other day how he was stood next to Pulis in Netto of all places. He didn't speak to him but that's what got me thinking about whether there's any mileage in this as a subject. I bet Pulis shops brilliantly at Netto. His problems begin when he goes to Harrods and spends copious amounts of cash on garbage that is actually worse than the budget baked beans he got from Netto.

I met Sidibe at work in BHS about a year ago, he made a right mess of everything he touched. Bloody nightmare! I also met Pennant not long after, he was with 'one' of his ex girlfriends. They were asking me every question under the sun about a hand towel when it was written a foot above them.

Gave Neil Cutler a lift back after we beat Bradford away a few years ago. He was on thr phone most of the time but was kind, enough to offer me and me mate jaffa cakes. He also got us comps for the game too!
Another time was out in brum, went to the ministry of sound bar on broad st and saw Ben petty in there. He was a sound lad , bought us drinks but tried palming his 'big boned' sister on me!

WAY more star struck with Hooky though

When me and the wife arrived at the venue of our wedding reception, Alan Hudson was sitting outside. He wished us the best of luck for the future. We are still married 23 years later.
My dad said The late Lohn Richie once put my mum's bag in the the overhead locker on a flight to spain, because my mum is such a short arse.

I remember Noel Blake teaching our class Maths at high school about 10 years ago. Fuck knows why but he did. Safe to say nobody said much in that lesson.
That was a bit surreal.

In the late 90's, ordered a taxi, and it turned up driven by Graham Shaw.He was happy to talk football, as long as I didn't talk about THAT miss v liverpool! He also said that he'd been to a party at my address-when it was owned by Ian Painter.

Went to my mates stag do at The Belfry a couple of yrs ago,who does a lot of charity work with Steve Bull & Don Goodman, who were both there. Steve Bull is a very competitive sportsman......he is also a massive arrogant wanker who loves talking about....Steve Bull & everything to do with Steve Bull. Don Goodman , on the other hand,is an absolute ledge. Fookin hilarious and very down to earth. Bull does not like Stoke and i spent most of the evening bending his ear & basically annoying him for hours and hours about how i hate Wolves......C*nt ;D ;D ;D Also used to run a pub in East Molesey,Surrey and Ray Lewington used to come in at 5pm on the dot almost every night with his wife. He would meet up with the same crew and they would stand at bar talking football for approx 2 1/2 hours then go home before 8pm. Top man and knows his footy, also mates with Pulis.....Rays' sons would come in too,Dean who is captain for MK Dons & Craig who played for Walton Casuals........similar to Leek Town standard !!!

Friday June 14th 1996. I was up near Wigan with the Mrs (of the time), at someone’s 50th birthday party with her family. I was just tucking in to some rather nice ham when the birthday boy’s wife gets on the microphone and declares that as a surprise she’s invited someone who used to go to his old school, and then announces Roger Hunt in. I didn’t take much notice and kept munching on the ham. She goes on “and he’s brought along his golfing buddy for the day, Gordon Banks”. Banksie walked past me and got a right eyeful of my gaping gob full of half chewed ham. They hung around for a couple of hours during which time I managed to pluck up the courage to have a chat with him (Banksie). What an absolutely brilliant bloke, really friendly and a true gent. I remember talking about our playoff defeat to Leicester, and I think he said that he was just about to relocate from Leicester to Stoke. I also remember Roger Hunt smiling as we moved him out of the way so that I could get a picture with Banksie. Got the film developed the next day and our picture proudly sat on the pub bar as England beat Scotland 2-0 in the Euro’s. Great weekend.
On another note, met Inchy in Ritzy one drunken Saturday night in the 80’s. He gave my mate one of those “do you know who I am” kind of looks just because he brushed past him as he put his glass on the bar. We gave him a bit of verbal and wished him ill. The following week he broke his leg playing for Everton. Sorry Inchy.

Denis Smith's sister was our neighbour and a dinner lady at my primary school. I remember seeing Smithy on crutches limping down her driveway a few times. He only seemed to visit when he was injured.

Taught Liam Lawrence partner to drive. Probably met him either before or after her lessons on and off for about 12 months at their house at Wytchwood Park. Nice house, and once saw him cutting his own lawn in bare feet !! I could just imagine TP watching from his flat behind Liam's house barking at him to put some shoes on. Envisaged the headline "Prem star cuts off toes cutting lawn", not so clever an idea following 'Max-gate'. The dog Max did sleep at the bottom of the stairs as his bed was there. Liam once made me a cup of coffee, and used the downstairs loo a few times. Nice family and made me feel very welcome at all times, with no 'premier star edge' to them. Kept in touch after their move to Portsmouth. One of the perks was to be invited up into the players lounge before and after games. My son was in heaven, and loved meeting all the players.
Not a Stoke player, but taught the Vale keeper Chris Martin to drive. He was 17 but looked and acted like a 25 year old. Mature beyond his years would be a fair assessment. Top bloke, and a great laugh to teach to drive. Passed his test 1st time, on the day he got called up to the 1st team for a league game for the first time.
