20th April 1974 - my first game.
Nothing was ever the same again. Wouldn't change a thing - well, apart from 1984/85 because that season was complete and utter shite!

When finding out the result after a game made you do silly things, or maybe already as a kid with my ear glued to the radio with very bad transmitting! My hearing on my right ear is probably fooked because of this! ;D

It's always been a family thing, going wrights pies in stoke before walking down to the vic as a little boy. inviting a stoke manager to my school for my class project about my interests made me sign on the dotted line forever.

living in brighton at the time, having moved down from stoke in 89 (long story) dad had taken me to a brighton game a few weeks before with a brighton supporting mate of his......but the week after my 7th birthday, he took me to my first ever stoke game, Milwall away....ive been hooked ever since!

Meat Pie, Chips & Gravy in the Tiko Cafe followed by Woolworths Pick 'n' Mix then Oatcakes from the Covered Market into the boot of the car before wandering up to The Vic.
Early-mid 70's, proudly wearing my new red and white scarf, holding the old man's hand up past Spode and the old police station, just taking it all in.
Thanks Dad (RIP) - City 'til I die...

Premier League survival... didn't want to commit too early in case we went straight down to the Mickey Mouse leagues again.

Seeing Richo score at Meadow Lane.Only 9 at the time. And yours? I've got two: First ever game in 1994 - we beat Charlton 3-2. Pesch scored and became my favourite player. And in 1999 at home against Bristol Rovers - we got hammered 4-1 and there was a massive pitch invasion and fans were throwing seats at members of the board. My dad let me stay and watch absolute mayhem. Always remember what he said "This is what it's all about" and that was that.

Likewise, for some reason I loved it and was hooked from then on.

I have a very vivid memory of my dad asking me if I wanted to go down to watch Stoke one day. I have a feeling we were playing Swansea, and he warned me that "they came back from 2-0 down and won 3-2 last week and they’re in good form – Stoke might not win you know." I responded by saying "I don’t really mind – if they did that again it would be entertaining, I just want to see a good game of football…" I was being a bit casual so my dad didn't worry about me being upset I think…! Anyway, we won the game convincingly, I loved it all, and walking away from the ground I realised I most certainly would not have felt the same if Swansea had beaten "us". Stoke became my team that day.

Ruts - Great mention of the Tiko, what a fantastic place (from 35ish years on)! From my first step into the Vic, 1963 v Luton. The smell, the noise and the spectacle and hooked. Bit more effort for my son from afar, but proud to say he is also hooked.
