When I stood on the Boothen for the first time (on a beer crate). It was against spurs and the noise was immense. I couldn't wait for my next match. Was also very pleased when the crowd responded to my cries of 'who are the people?' for the very first time at the age of 16. My balls had well and truly dropped and was part of something that I was very proud to belong to.

2 November 1963 vs Burnley at home score was 4-4 my first match. Next home game was also 4-4 vs Sheff Wed then 4-1 win against Birmingham next home game. After that goal drought then saw us smash Ipswich 9-1.

I've allways been a Stoke fan, mainly because my dad said I was.
I remember going in 97, just knew i was a stokie then.
Never thought i'd be going Valencia though, or spending the amount of money i do on Stoke.

Its funny really my brother took me in 79 (Birmingham) and then quite a few more for the next couple of years but i hated football!
Got beaten up by my 2 brothers over the tv for watching football many times(i didn't want to watch),then in 86 first pay packet and fucking flush for the first time in my life and wondered what to spend it on and it was almost spooky,on train from Kidsgrove on me sen match at vic won 3-0 some one scored a hatrick.
Nicky Morgan maybe it was Blackburn and when he scored the 3rd he ran from the Stoke end dead fast to the Boothen to celebrate it could of been Keith Berschin them 2 were my first Stoke hero's.

When Sir Stan returned. I was a little kid and hadn't taken much interest up til then. The whole Stan thing was like a fairy tale. We hadn't had so much attention for decade. The whole country was watching us. Stan made his debut at (I think) the age of 47. I still remember the headline on the back page of one of the national papers: 'Stoke's new winger looks good!' Shortly afterwards, the great man scored a goal (unusually for him as he was a goal maker). I think it was against Bury. A cup game, maybe? I was hooked, totally and completely. It felt like a good fit though, SCFC being the family club and the team one of my ancestors had played for. I'm loving our big Prem adventure now, just as I loved the Waddo years, but there's still a once-in-a-lifetime magic around that Sir Stan team, with Allen and Asprey, Lawrie Leslie, Bebbington and Bridgwood, Violett and Clamp. First love never dies...

I was 16 when I watched Sir Stan's Testimonial/Benefit Match in 1965. I believe there were 35000 in attendance and the game was televised with millions watching. I cried as he left the field, carried off on the shoulders of my favourite player ever (Lev Yashin) and Ferenc Puskas (I think) The thought that those fabulous footballers (along with many others) would grace the Victoria Ground just to celebrate the career of a Stoke Player gave me such a buzz.....I'd been to many games previously (of course) but that was the one that 'sold' me

The exact moment is difficult to pinpoint- however back in 1971 at school we wanted to be able to listen to the radio at noon when the FA Cup semi final draw was made. It was always made on the monday after the quarter finals and only live on the radio. I had taken my radio (trannie) to school on that day I asked our teacher at the time, a certain Mr Boswell, if we could listen as our lesson didn't finish until 12-25. At 2 mins to 12 I fumbled around in my desk and managed to hear the draw with my radio on very low. A few coughs helped disguise any other noise. It was Stoke V Arsenal. At the end of the lesson I walked up to Mr Boswell to inform him that it was Stoke v Arsenal. He just smiled and I escaped any trouble. Wonder where he is now?

When I was nine years old I had a photo of the 1969 Man City team on my wall. Great team - Bell, Summerbee, Franny Lee...better than the bunch of mercenaries they have now. I'd never been to a match. ...Then, in 1970, the old man takes me to the Vic and that was it.
It's like being given a drug. 'Here ya go son. Have a toke on this!' A couple of weeks and yer hooked. As much as I tried to ignore Stoke during the graveyard years I could not think about giving another team my devotion.
I tear my hair out when I hear die hard fans of the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea moaning about their team, about the lack of success, their struggle to stay in the top four. Blah blah blah. Check ya trophy cabinet tossers! Try a spell in the third tier and get a reality check.

17th November 1972. SToke City 1 Birmingham 2.....freezing cold day stood on the Stoke End....smog, Cigar smoke wafting through the air, floodlights on at kick off, the ground seemed huge to an 8 year old boy. Had to leave 5 minutes early as i was wearing short trousers and I think my Dad thought I might die of cold if he didnt move me.

Boxing Day 1989, we played Newcastle United at home (lost 2-1 I think). The Beest scored an absolute screamer I think. The noise, the smells, walking to the ground, hot meat and tater from Wrights Pies, quarter of Everton Mints from the sweet shop down the road from the ground. Awesome times.
As much as I love the Brit now, I can't help but think that some of them great old traditions have been lost

Saturday 27th December 1986. We beat Sheff Utd 5 - 2 at home, it was my first game at Stoke. I was 9.
I think Carl Saunders also scored a hat-trick that game.

March 20th 1971, taken to Stoke by my Grandad, him & me Nan had 2 ST in Boothen stand. He picked me up from Castle, I was so excited, I think now I still get a tingling from it. We went through Hartshill, suddenly before we dropped into Stoke he slammed on the brakes, it was quart to three by now. Come out of the shop, 20 Number6, 50 a day man.
Got in the ground, ran up the stairs, got too the top & WHOOSH, Boothen to my right, Stoke End to my left & Butler straight on. That day just shy of 40,000k.
Stoke 1-2 Man U, but it did'nt bother me, I was a STOKIE.

My 1st Stoke game was against Millwall. (the old man wanted to throw me in at the deep end!) I dont remember much other than the trouble and being scared shitless! The game that hooked me and one of my earliest Stoke memorys was when we beat West Brom 4-3 at the Victoria Ground in 1992. What a game!!
