Quite staggering really.

A lot of fans will be gloating over the problems at Vale Park. They are wrong to do so. The unique thing about English football is the number of professional clubs in the league structure. I'm sure this contributes to the quality of the Championship, which is the 4th highest attended league in Europe - with crowds far bigger than you get in the top division of most countries.
The health and strength of the league pyramid depends upon the health and strength of its clubs - even the smaller ones. Everytime a club goes into administration, or worse still, liquidation, the pyramid as a whole is weakened.
I hope Vale survive as a league club although I'm struggling to see how they will manage to do so. A bit of honesty from their board would help.

tbh its what went through the back of most people's minds when an American company no one has ever heard of announced that they were putting £8 million into an English fourth tier club.
But crazier things had happened. And what was the alternative? That this bloke Peter Miller was making it all up just so that he would get onto the board. I mean, why would he ever do that? The club has no money and the land Vale Park is on isn't worth the cost of demolishing the stadium. What could they possibly have to gain by lying? £100,000 a year plus expenses? Surely no one has the brass neck to pull that off? Surely?! I mean, WHAT THE FUCK?

As much as i am a Stoke fan its getting more than a joke at the Vale. The supporters are being let down terribly by a board anyone would be ashamed to have.
The sooner someone with a vision of something like what i set out below the better for them.
1. Sell Vale Park. 2. Bank the cash and invest in a 10000 all seater stadium on brownfield land somewhere in tunstall/burslem 3. Use the remaining cash from the sale to solidify the club and playing staff. 4. Job done

www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/Port-Vale-Investment-deal-dead-says-Blue-Sky/story-14080264-detail/story.htmlHilarious. Quote from Blue Sky boss Hank Julicher. "I can tell you categorically that Blue Sky will not be investing in Port Vale Football Club. "The deal is dead and has been, in my eyes, for a long time. I simply don't know where these figures of £5 million and £8 million came from. It was never our intention to invest that kind of money into Port Vale." Mr Julicher added: "I'd have to be crazy or on drugs to agree to such a thing."

I find it hard to summon up any sympathy whatsoever, so I'm not going to try! All the bullshit that's come from that side of the City for so long.
Is administration just around the corner? I for one, can only hope so!

Its rather more easy to be preaching love when you were living a couple of hundred miles away from the smug bastards in black and white who dished out so much shite to us locals when they were at their strongest and we were at our lowest ebb, John. But still...... I dont think there is any evidence in the known universe that supports the loss of Port vale would weaken English football one jot. If there is I'd love to hear it. There is plenty of logic to suggest Stoke City would be more of a force without them polluting the local pro football landscape for sure. So much for Glenn Oliver's boast made to plenty of us at an IBPU a few years ago that Vale would demonstrate how to run a club properly through its fans board. Thank God that we were never that desperate even in our darkest hours.

The health of league football is only as good as the clubs on the bottom rung of the ladder. There does seem to be a lot of dodgy goings on at boardroom level though. Time to bring in Mr Choudary and to turn the clubs fortunes around. Long Live Port Vale....Long Live Stoke-on-Trent.

Every time a club goes into administration, or worse still, liquidation, the pyramid as a whole is weakened. I hope Vale survive as a league club although I'm struggling to see how they will manage to do so. A bit of honesty from their board would help. I and no doubt many other people have been saying for years that the real problem is not the number of league clubs, the main and almost only reason why there are so many struggling clubs is the word 'professional'. Even though gates for 3rd and 4th tier fixtures are 'reasonable' they're certainly not anywhere near enough to sustain a football club with 20+ full time professional players and all the admin that goes with it. Watching football is still the most tribal of pursuits and for this reason most of the more isolated, one town clubs can with a bit of careful management just about keep their heads above water. A city like Stoke-on-Trent isn't like that being surrounded by a huge number of clubs in all 4 divisions, is a very low wage earning area and crucially for Port Vale has a successful Premier League neighbour. I'm sorry but Port Vale, as a full time professional club is dyeing on it's feet and has been doing so for quite a number of years. The Vale are not going to survive as a fully professional club for much longer and if there was a modicum of sense in the Port Vale boardroom they should be recognising this now before it's all too late. As the man said . . . . . Mr Julicher added: "I'd have to be crazy or on drugs to agree* to such a thing." * investing in Port Vale.

As I've said above, in recent years all the shit that they have thrown towards us has hardened me to any sympathetic feelings towards them, when they have been shooting themselves in the foot I was the first to laugh but now they are being raped by the scurge of football.
I do feel sorry for them but it wont stop me from laughing when they are relegated.
It's blue, its square, they play it over there, Port Vale, Port Vale ;D

I feel very sorry for the Vale and their fans. I think it's petty and small-time to wish ill upon them. They're a local Potteries football club, supported by local Stoke people. What would you have these people do, go and support Man Utd or Chelsea? Jump on the Stoke City bandwagon now we're in the top tier? These people have the decency to give loyal support to their unfashionable struggling football club, and all some Stokies can do (during a massive purple patch) is rub it in.
And if it's because Vale fans used to poke fun at us when we were in a bad way, do people not consider it petty to do the same when they're in even worse shape, and we're currently in such a fantastic state? That's surely not enough reason to hope for their entire fan base to suffer? I doubt people would wish the same misery on other clubs - when other failing clubs' fans come on here saying they're raising money to save their club from administration etc we normally all express our sympathy and best wishes, so why does this empathy with our fellow football fan break down when he's also our neighbour?
Vale appear to be an absolute shambles at the moment, and I don't see any prospect of them getting sorted out (Choudhury would only make things worse, he's as dodgey as anything), so personally I feel very sorry for them and wish them all the best.
