I doubt you meet too many Vale fans in your neck of the woods Mumfy? Even some of the Burslem Beggars can keep on topic let me tell you! Like I said...''if the Cap fits...'' You seem to be rummaging around the hat stand whilst the rest of the thread is I n the sock drawer! But if you think there is a connection I'm fine with it.

A lot of fans will be gloating over the problems at Vale Park. They are wrong to do so. The unique thing about English football is the number of professional clubs in the league structure. I'm sure this contributes to the quality of the Championship, which is the 4th highest attended league in Europe - with crowds far bigger than you get in the top division of most countries. The health and strength of the league pyramid depends upon the health and strength of its clubs - even the smaller ones. Everytime a club goes into administration, or worse still, liquidation, the pyramid as a whole is weakened. I hope Vale survive as a league club although I'm struggling to see how they will manage to do so. A bit of honesty from their board would help. Its rather more easy to be preaching love when you were living a couple of hundred miles away from the smug bastards in black and white who dished out so much shite to us locals when they were at their strongest and we were at our lowest ebb, John. But still...... I dont think there is any evidence in the known universe that supports the loss of Port vale would weaken English football one jot. If there is I'd love to hear it. There is plenty of logic to suggest Stoke City would be more of a force without them polluting the local pro football landscape for sure. So much for Glenn Oliver's boast made to plenty of us at an IBPU a few years ago that Vale would demonstrate how to run a club properly through its fans board. Thank God that we were never that desperate even in our darkest hours. +1

it would seem that some of you lot on here are too young to remember the 90's when the vale had the upper hand [for a couple of seasons] the amout of bullshit raining down on us from bell& co was unbelievable. they couldnt kick us hard enough when we were down, they seemed to forget all the help stoke had given the vale over the years. i.e. pre season friendlies at vale to raise money for vale with stoke fans filling all four sides of the ground and not even a hint of any mither. i know many football fans who used to go stoke at home one week and vale the next week. but these people were hounded out by the we are vale mob i allways say what goes round allways comes round and sure enough we have regained our rightful place and the vale have sunk to new low levels. so do i feel sorry for them? not a jot bye bye you sad deluded fools

He to remembers Bell`s heyday. I have relations who follow Vale home and away and I feel for them. But as far as Vale are concerned,Fuck `em.

This guy from Blue Sky is great. I cant read anything he says now without thinking of him as the yank in the Waldorf salad sketch from Fawlty Towers!
Latest quote to follow up the classic 'crazy or on drugs' comes in todays Sentinel.
Speaking about a meeting with new Vale chairman Peter Miller and trying to get some facts out of him he says 'I said to him "Wheres this stuff baby? Wheres the beef?"

There are many clubs who are far stronger financially with a much greater scope for growth operating at that level. You can easily argue that Vale's demise would mean a club that is not restricted by being in the shadow of a neibouring club would florish and make the league stronger if given the opportunity.
