I spent most of the match last night embarrassed about the behaviour of our home support in the South stand. You'd think for someone who has a season ticket in block 19, that I'd be hardened to the behaviour of a certain element of our support ....but you'd be a million miles off. A fair percentage of the so called fans in the south stand hardly saw much of the game, but spent most of their time devoted to baiting the pretty impressive away support. From spotty chavs to middle aged portly men, with veins bulging out of their heads (yes you know who you are) furious at the away support for even daring to gesture back. One guy spent a lot of the game replicating the throat slitting gesture to anyone who dared to glance across the netting. Half time was no better with a fair few hundred people marching towards the fenced off smoking area to bait the away smokers, with a lovely rendition of; "I'd rather be a P*** than a Turk," to boot. Basically the South stand contained a fairly high percentage of chav's and knuckle draggers who seem intent on provoking a reaction from the away support. I wonder how they'd react if a few hundred crossed the flimsy netting ??? Because it will happen sometime, like it almost did against West Ham a couple of seasons ago. Note to self, give the South stand a miss in the future .....ahhhhh shit I've got two more matches to go PS I like giving the away support as much stick as the next man but some people wanted to go the extra mile and get angry for no good reason.

I struggle to understand how people are so upset and perplexed by this. End of the day you pay for something and you're entitled to do with it what you want. So these people don't have the same idea of enjoyment as others when at a football match unless the person is directly infront of you, obscuring your view what does it really matter.
Either you have to be horribly overexaggerating, or you were spending most of the game watching the people watching the away fans, at this point you would be denying yourself enjoyment to instead watch people do things you don't like.
My brother was probably one of the idiots down there, hes that way inclined and I call him an idiot all the time for many, many things in life. Doesn't bother me any that he does it, he had a good time and paid his money just like you.
It's the same as things being chanted, end of the day people are allowed to enjoy themselves however they want I highly doubt any of the Besiktas fans are now going for therapy to get over the gestures made or things said that they may not have even understood or heard.

No-one, paying customer or otherwise should have to listen to racist abuse. Truly disgusting.
Some of our fans literally just come to the football to shout the things they have been bottling up at work all day. Awful

Same in the boothen mate some little spotty 17 year old chavs offering on the keeper, even calling the bloke a p### bastard. Even though he was one off the most Turkish looking men i have ever seen. It was the same against the spuds, be the same against the scouse.
Embarrassed to watch a 'fellow stokie' act like that.

I cringe at the lack of grace and respect we show to people from outside the ST postcode, never mind another country. It's one of the reason why SOT is a cultural and employment desert. We are seen as being backwards, insular folk, and when you see some of the sad weapons last night then it's a fair shout. If that upsets some, tough. There was a family of locally-based Turkish folk in the Family Stand last night. They didn't receive one crass comment all night - how it should be. It's just that some have far lower standards than others.

I'm a season ticket holder in the South Stand and I was sat in their last night.
I agree with your comment that a lot of the 'fans' in there spend 90 mins goading the opposition however you need to remember that half of the South Stand which was open last night, isn't usually available during Prem games, meaning that most of the wankers who were sitting next to the away fans were non season ticket holders.
During Prem games I absolutely love the South stand, most of us spend the whole match standing up and it's brilliant having banter with the away fans (and I mean banter, not cut throat gestures or racist abuse). We sing non stop (often to drown the away fans out) and the vibe in there is generally brilliant.
You do still get the odd sad fucker who offers the away fans on, but I'm sure you get that in any part of the ground.

We were in block 37 and the atmosphere there was great but as i looked towards the away fans i could see some of the clowns more intent in baiting the away supporters than watching the game , a great number of them old enough to know better

Was surprised to see so many visiting fans in the top tier of the q railing stand , very loud and proud and no trouble at all !
Asked the head steward why they were all up there and was told it was a UEFA directive to allow them in Based on he number of home seats unsold !
Shame some our fans cant act in such a positive way !

Some people feel the same way about profanity. Except me swearing on a fucking messageboard isn't illegal. H Neither is racism in some parts of the world That aside, no one has been offended enough to start anything down a legal route so its purely from the foundation of disliking it, rather than taking a proper stand against it. If you witness a rape or murder (or as it would be in this case, make an effort to watch it instead) and don't do anything at all to report it or see justice done but proceed to complain about it then its a pretty hollow sentiment.

I'm sure all clubs have percentage of fans who can act up, but the most difficult to comprehend was the guys in their 40s who had purchased tickets as close as possible to the away fans, with bright red faces and bulging veins going mental at the away fans, and missing most of the game. I tried my best to ignore them, but it was compelling viewing, they were far less civilised than the inhabitants at trentham monkey forest

Well I wasn't in the South Stand to hear it, but if I had I would have reported it. We have a bad enough reputation as it is without a few more brain dead spackmongs adding to the poor side of our image. I think it's fucking disgraceful and it's about time the club did something to address this. It's not like it's the first time it has happened either. H GD shouldn't you be murdering some Polish people somewhere?

There was one Besiktas fan who I don't think saw a minute of the game. His fingers must be sore he spent that much time sticking them up at everyone in sight :-) Was sat near our fans in that section and some are so brave behind segregation. I always think of the Wigan fans that day who ran like Usain Bolt that day after gesturing at the Stoke fans until he realised they were coming in his direction :-)
Was only a few to be fair and if they get their fun that way then says a lot. Was a kid in front of me who spent the whole game swearing at the Besiktas players and his Dad laughed every time. Maybe explains a lot
