I went in the South Stand for the first time ever on Thursday. I couldn't believe what I saw. Grown blokes spewing out the most filthy of filthy racist chants and general "banter" for the entire 90 minutes. Most of them not even watching the match. What's the bloody point? That's ok apparently though because Turkish fans put banners out saying 'Welcome to Hell'. H

I struggle to understand how people are so upset and perplexed by this. End of the day you pay for something and you're entitled to do with it what you want. So these people don't have the same idea of enjoyment as others when at a football match unless the person is directly infront of you, obscuring your view what does it really matter. Either you have to be horribly overexaggerating, or you were spending most of the game watching the people watching the away fans, at this point you would be denying yourself enjoyment to instead watch people do things you don't like. My brother was probably one of the idiots down there, hes that way inclined and I call him an idiot all the time for many, many things in life. Doesn't bother me any that he does it, he had a good time and paid his money just like you. It's the same as things being chanted, end of the day people are allowed to enjoy themselves however they want I highly doubt any of the Besiktas fans are now going for therapy to get over the gestures made or things said that they may not have even understood or heard. What a load of bollocks.....it's the kind of shit that has no place in a football stadium. If you want to have a fight go and find another fool to fight and beat the crap out of each other. If you want to watch a football match go to the ground and shout your head off supporting your team.

Hate to say this but this is all six of one and half a dozen of the other. Is it not the Turks who deck thier grounds out with "welcome to hell". Guys lets get a grip. Of course....that makes it all right then.

It doesn't fucking matter how much money anybody has paid to go to a football match, it doesn't give them the right to be racist cuntbags ever! H End of thread. No social skills at all, some people. I cringe at the lack of grace and respect we show to people from outside the ST postcode, never mind another country. It's one of the reason why SOT is a cultural and employment desert. We are seen as being backwards, insular folk, and when you see some of the sad weapons last night then it's a fair shout. If that upsets some, tough. There was a family of locally-based Turkish folk in the Family Stand last night. They didn't receive one crass comment all night - how it should be. It's just that some have far lower standards than others. Sums it up better than I could. Despite the fact that I genuinely think our support rivals the best in the world we undoubtedly have more than our fair share of cowardly, ignorant knuckledraggers. I do think we're improving though and hopefully things keep getting better.....slow process though.

i was behind the goal in the south stand. its perfectly ok to shout banter like turkey's a shit hole and stuff, maybe even gypo to the keeper but the paki chants were a bit too far. you wont get me chanting that shit! to be fair though, unless someone understands turkish, there chanting could have been even worse?

Sorry but we need to answer a question. Are we Fucking Fulham or Stoke??? You can be vocal, you can chant things at away fans, you can do whatever the fuck you like except be racist. In no way is it acceptable. We might aswell go the whole way and start throwing bananas at half our team ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/cj7bsBj2jOTuEAUVaPt5.gif) It's just as bad and has nothing to do with being a football fan. It has everything to do with being a racist cunt.

Doesn't matter what they were chanting....some things are acceptable others aren't....racist chanting is shit plain and simple. To be honest I grew out of the "Your town/country is crap" stuff when I was about 15 or 16. Don't see the point now. I'd rather waste the small amount of energy I have singing and shouting my love for Stoke than pointlessly screaming shit at opposition players/fans. Each to his own though.

South Stand is mint for leauge games when away fans sell out their entire allocation, can be a bit poor when we get more tickets.
