True and no doubt some of those same people thought Walters was rubbish as well. Don't confuse passion with performance. I don't. Collins can't defend. You must be confused, where have I mentioned Collins?

It's a bit strange that he supposedly has such a serious injury, but still managed to get up and run around after.

Has anything official been said? The OS piece on this yesterday seemed cautiously optimistic. This is a real blow if it's true.

I don't. Collins can't defend. You must be confused, where have I mentioned Collins? Sorry I must be mate, who do you mean you'd play then? We haven't got a lot of viable options in truth.

Wilko and Wilson for me or Wilson and Woody - reckon Woody could do a good job if we keep Wheland and Delap fit in the middle Wilson and Woody is a good shout. Gutted for Danny H though.

I'd still prefer Pugh over Collins, but I'd be content with any of these defensive line-ups:
( from right to left )
Wilson - Shawcross - Huth - Pugh
Wilko - Shawcross - Huth - Wilson
Whitehead - Shawcross - Huth - Wilson
To be honest we're going to have a make-shift left-back whoever comes in.

I'd prefer Collins over Pugh to be honest. I know Collins was a bit shit earlier in the season but he did have some good games before that. He had a good 5 or 6 games where he was part of our 3 wins on the bounce and the victory over Liverpool.
Anyway, fingers crossed for Danny H.

I'm in the "anyone but Collins" camp myself.
He simply cannot defend. At left back(where he has played the vast majority of his career), he is poor. The thought of him at CB fills me with terror.
However TP bought Collins to our club tp play LB, and I think we all know that if Higgy is injured then we will have to give Danny Collins as much support as we can

Now the initial devastation has passed and despite my real fears about Collins if the lad plays he will have my support and I hope he plays superbly well. Prove us doubters wrong, Danny and have 9 blinding games between now and the end of the season to make us all proud!

Wilson has been a revelation at RB and one of these reasons is his excellent interplay with Pennant. To take that away would be detrimental to the team, but not as much if he can build a good relationship with Matty. I know one thing for sure, I would definitely rather see wilko or wilson there than collins, 100%, but if he is picked we all need to get behind him, which I'm sure we will

Too true, and it's odd to many on here why this wasn't addressed in January. presumably TP either feels differently or has a different long term plan. I haven't seen enough of Shotton to know, but as he is not making the bench then presumably TP doesn't consider him ready. Collins and Barney have both been tried and we know their weaknesses so presumably so will Owen Coyle. Woody would certainly give it a go but that could be a gamble and it would then mean we would end up with Whelan in the middle which I would prefer didn't happen. In short as Frazer would say, 'we're doomed I tell thee, doomed'! I'm happy to leave it with TP.

This is devastating IF true, but until it's been confrimed by the club we can still hope it's just typical Radio Stoke sensationalism. But if it is true then for me it has to be Danny Collins coming in. The Shawcross-Huth partnership is as important as any part of our team and one of the keys to our success this season. This shouldn't be messed with at all, so any suggestions of Huth at full-back are a no go. The Wilson-Pennant partnership down the right hand-side has been great in recent weeks and also shouldn't be messed with. No point disrupting both sides of a settled team that is in form. Danny Pugh and Dean Whitehead are midfielders, NOT defenders. Yes they can both fill in when needed and do a job there to an extent but neither of them would fill me with confidence. I really can't remember one game where Pugh has looked good at full-back at this level. Wilko has no left foot. So that leaves us with the safest option. A man who is naturally a defender, is left footed, has played there before and has also PLAYED WELL there before, whether people want to admit it or not. He has linked up very well with Etherington and in our purple patch of form earlier in the season he was playing very well. For me it has to be Collins. We all know that he has weaknesses in his game but he's the best bet out of all our options and if he does get the nod for God's sake give the lad some support! EDIT: Just seen the quotes from TP Bollocks!

I am totally gutted by this news Danny H was in my view one of the reasons for our change in fortunes. A much better LB than DC and DP and i acutally like the way he flights the ball down the line. He also scores a few goals. Totally gutted by this and more for him as he wont be playing in an FC Cup Semi Final that his goal took us too and at the stage in his career i feel deeply sorry for him. Hats off to Danny H and a speedy recovery.

.... and on the replacement i`d play anyone at LB except Collins - his mistakes in terms of positional sense have cost us points this season (more than just a few as well).
If Wilson/Wilko can play LB i`d put them there, then try Pugh again, then Collins as last resort.
I dont think Wilko can play LB his left foot seems so weak when he plays the ball on it, Wilson is playing well at RB and links well with JP - Pugh would be my option first.

if he had a complete rupture of a cruciate ligament i.e. complete snap, he would not be able to stand.
it is more likley to be a partial rupture, if it requires surgery you are looking at between 4 and 8 months lay off, if it is non-operative he will still be out for the season.

Wilko or Collins? I know who I'd pick every single day of the week and it's not the gormless looking Welsh bloke.
It should be a no brainer.
