so people can write what the fuck they want about him but he cant retaliate? He will earn more money this week than i will earn in the next 5-10 years.... no he can't retaliate. John Terry had to endure 'Your family is scum' from 25,000 people today, i bet he's laughing all the way to the bank. ;D so because he earns more than you he aint allowed to do anything out of the ordinary? ;D ;D ;D

hmmm, tricky one, i suppose he is pretty much untouchable though isnt he?? Multi millionaire, he can get any with murder, but i suppose i feel like for someone who is on that much money, people idolizing him, he should just bite his lip, instead of acting like a child .. p.s dont say he EARN'S money, my dad was a labourer his entire life and never made a 1000th of his career money

Rooney is a thick neanderthal who doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself - as the summer fiasco with him wanting to leave proved.
I don't give a shit about swearing at the match or in the ground in front of the spectators - but i do give a shit if a supposed rolemodel (laughable in itself) does it live to the camera in a televised game being shown to millions of people and kids all over the world.
The last thing i want to see is his ugle pug-faced mug swearing on tv while i'm watching the game with my 3 year old son.
I hope he gets a lengthy ban. I fucking despise the prick.

Lovely SKY tv again, getting the publicity they crave whilst upsetting those who didn't know there was football before 1992.
Rooney's language or Essien's potential career-ended. I know which I'd rather see.

Precisely.. i could almost accept the swearing in a joyous celebratory manner, but an aggressive tirade against god only knows who?.. The camera man, the critics, the fans of other teams?.. i don't accept.

I know which I'd rather see. I think you're missing the point. This isn't swearing at a match. It's going out of your way to swear in front of millions of viewers at home and kids who's parents might not want them to attend a match (at their current age) precisely to avoid that sort of thing. In this case, it's about not having a choice in the matter. On top of which, swearing is for after a certain hour on tv - not early afternoon.

I'll have to disagree with you there. I don't think it's appropriate to swear in front of young children. Although that i guess that comes down to class.

Who decided footballers had to be role models? Is it in the contract or something?
I hear this role model thing time and time again but they're doing a job they love and being paid extremely well for it.
Yet we expect them to spend every minute signing autographs, visiting hospitals, donating all their money and behaving like little angels yet i bet half on here have never been to a hospital to help out or hand out toys and are loud, full of swearing and from time to time act a little naughty when full of beer or at football.

You read these forums and you would believe everyone is doing all they can to stop world poverty, create world peace and within all that be an upstanding gentleman of society.
If thats the case then i presume non of you go Stoke as you wouldn't be seen with all those knuckle dragging drunks that can barely string a coherent sentence together.

Yet our fans swear and abuse the players when live on tv yet get upset when they respond too it. Seems one rule for one and one for another. If you want players to be respectful, polite anf gentleman like on the pitch then surely us as fans have to do the same?

If you go to a football match you know what you're letting yourself in for. The same applies to to the pubs before and after games... no issues there.
What annoys me is the live aspect of this and Rooneys total disregard for the parents and kids who watched that game.
I'm also sure that there are a lot of kids (not in Manchester but worldwide) that have Man United shirts with Rooneys name on the back.
